With the two contestants for the round in tow, Professor Summers lead them through the chamber, stopping short of a long, raised platform. "Alright, take your positions here, and here." He stated, motioning briefly to the far north and south sides of the platform. He explained the usual rules to follow, and how the point system applied to ensure a winning side. Stepping back, he allowed for a safe distance between himself and the duellists, before giving a thumbs up to begin. ​

The red haired girl was fairly nervous, it was her first time to duel someone and she had never hurt anyone without a valid reason. But her parents wanted her to have more than one extra curricular at school and the only thing her mother can think of is by mentioning dueling to her step father. And so, Mia is here, her wand in tow. Before starting, the Professor in charge gave them a brief explanation of the duel. Firmiana was having second thoughts to back out but she couldn't disappoint her parents and sister now. The Slytherin took the north side of the platform, bowed as instructed and as she lifted her head with her body, Mia hesitated for a second before casting the disarming spell, <COLOR color="#000">"Expelliarmus!" Hoping she could finish the duel early

Ares had never taken part in a duelling tournament, he had always just sat it out. Never being really good enough in his mind to do it. But this year was different, the chaser was trying to get more involved in the school, pushing himself to do new things, pushing himself into new experiences, and this was very clearly a good one to do that with. He bowed as he was shown to and took his spot opposite the slytherin girl. She wasted no time in casting a spell at him and barely had enough time to erect a shield. Ares took a long breath, and fired back, "Incendio," he said with strong purpose and the fire spell shot from his wand

Firmiana didn't fuss when her opponent shield himself. She was glad the boy was alright. But when the boy retaliated with a fire spell, Mia dodge to the ground of the platform, almost missing her but her flower crown that she was wearing got caught and was on the ground engulf by the fire. She stayed calm and collected once up from the ground and she fired another spell, <COLOR color="#000">"Diffindo!" On her mind the spell was none harmful because she had forgotten what it is for.

Ares was watching carefully, trying his best to guess how she might next fit, what spell she would cast, where it would go. He had fantasies already forming in his head, Ares the victor, the winning, the greatest dueller to live. The dueller that would fight for the hand of the handsome prince who was being falsely imprisoned by the evil witch. Ares' head was so high in the clouds, he barely noticed that she'd actually cast the spell, and he was just able to dodge out of the way. He reminded that he had to keep his head in this, "Rictusempra", he shot back.

Still fuming from the flower crown incident. Firmiana was fast to cast a shield and fire another spell to her opponent who seems very proud to win. <COLOR color="#000">"Scourgify!" It was the harmless spell she could think of. Mia chuckled lightly, waiting to see what would happened to him if cleaned like that.

Ares was realising that this girl was pretty good at this, probably far better than he was, though he had fantasies of winning the reality was likely that he would not. However, it would be fun while it lasted. The boy had no time to block her spell, and suddenly found the spell cleaning his robes, that he had thought weren't too dirty. It made him smile, laugh a little too, he focused and cast back, "Tarantallegra" though not as fun as her spell, certainly a dancing one

Her laugh as she saw her opponent getting cleaned was like a song to her ears. This was fun she thought and it seems the Hufflepuff was enjoying the duel too. Firmiana is not for violence but extra curricular is a must for her. <COLOR color="#000">"You still owe me a flower crown!" She shouted at the boy and she was engross at his robes that she didn't realized he cast a spell on her. Too late to shield herself, Mia's feet started to dance and at one point it wants to do the moon walk. The Slytherin cast a spell to stop it and when her legs stopped dancing, she swiftly waved her wand at her opponent and cast a spell again. "Rictusempra!" Mia wanted to hear his laugh again, it seems to calm her, he has a sweet laugh.

Ares couldn't help but actually be enjoying this fight, at her reaction to the burned flower crown he smiled,
"I'll make it myself," he retorted with a friendly expression on his features. He found it also rather enjoyable to watch, she was dancing when she didn't want to be. Perhaps duels were more fun than he had thought them to be, or it might just be this girl. He blocked the spell she sent towards him, the smile still clear on his face from watching her dance, but he knew he should focus, winning was the point of this,"Expelliarmus," he said, thinking of nothing better.

Mia chuckled at his response. She wanted to make the match longer, to know the boy more but it was a timed duel. As he shielded himself from the spell she did, the next one made her yelp in surprised as Mia was disarmed. The red haired Slytherin pouted at her opponent. <COLOR color="#000">"Make sure you add some peony on that flower crown and send it to Slytherin house." Firmiana was alright about the lost. It was a friendly duel and no one got hurt from their spells.
