Jonathan was quite pleased with how popular the Elective Fairs were becoming. This was the third year of it happening and, well, it wouldn't have made it to the second annual Fair if it didn't prove popular and useful for the students. Jonathan was a firm believer of choosing electives been one of the hardest moments of a students life up until that point. Being at such a young age it was a lot of stress for the students to think about the rest of their lives and what they wanted to do with it so they could choose the best subjects. Regardless of been such a difficult decision for a lot of them no-one was ever harmed in the process so it wasn't that scary. Jonathan looked forward to these fairs as he could talk to his pupils in a much more relaxed situation than all sitting in the stuffy common room and making it easier for them to approach him if they had any questions to ask and not feel embarrassed as they might if they had their classmates watching them as they would in the common room.

Seeing as this was the third year of this happening Jonathan felt people were more comfortable and that the elective professors were more prepared for the types of questions they would get from the students and have all of their resources readily available. It didn't take long for the Great Hall to get set up in it's usual fashion of stalls darted across the vast Hall with the four long tables removed from the center of the room and smaller tables put around the side of the room so people could sit down and review the information they had been given or a quiet place for students to talk to Professors in private. Jonathan had a small folder tucked under his arm with his own information ready if anyone approached him. He wasn't a Professor that taught an elective class but as Ravenclaw Head of House it was important for him to be there for any of his students. With the flick of his wand he opened up the doors of the Great Hall and waited for the students to arrive.

Olivia was excited for the electives fair to get underway but on the other hand she was very nervous. The second year had no idea what she wanted to do but she was having to chose new subjects and potentially discount some others. The young Ravenclaw was torn and her sister had been no help, having already made her choices Victoria outright refused to give her any feedback which had upset Olivia though she was used to being brushed off by her elder sister. Deciding that she would achieve nothing in the common room Olivia decided to go down to the Great hall and see what all the fuss was about.

The second year made her way inside the Great hall and was shocked to see it so different. Where the large house tables once stood the hall was now filled with various different stalls all representing different electives. Olivia was blown away by the number of choices that were available to here and each class was so different. She was considering muggle studies but was unsure if it was a worth while course given that she was muggle born, she went over to the stall in the hope of seeing the Professor who taught it. "Excuse me, Professor...Stark is it?"

Sloane was excited to see the electives fair coming about again. It seemed to be doing the students a world of good and anything that helped the students was good in her book. She hoped to see her Hufflepuffs taking full advantage of this time to ask questions and decide what they wanted to do in the future. That was what they were here for after all. She would be here for double duty today however, as both a hand and support to her house and of course as a representative of the Muggle Studies curriculum. She could tell them what they wanted to know about the basic classes, third year and fourth year and even a little on the advanced course, but that would be a question better left to her colleague. She hoped that she could steer them in the right direction though, she didn't want them forgoing muggle studies just because they weren't sure or because they thought they already knew everything. She walked into the Great hall and nodded to Jonathan and some of the others before sitting in her space. It wasn't long until a student was approaching her and she smiled warmly at the girl. "Yes, how can I help you today?"

An elective fair was an excellent idea - especially for his own subject, Arithmancy. It was far too easy for students to automatically give up on trying to course, assuming it was some ungodly difficult subject that would break them. Professor Arvo Tuuri didn't like to think of it as anything like that at all. Obviously, as the man teaching Arithmancy, he very much enjoyed the subject, and the best he could do right now was try and remove the stigma about it. It only involved a few calculations, really, and the books (and himself) were always available for use to help. By time these students were in their last year, they would be laughing at how worried they were in the beginning, he was sure. Smiling happily at his fellow professors, the tiny man found his own space and sat down. His chair was a little higher than the others, to help him reach the desk. There, he sat and sipped at his cup of tea with a cupcake.

The more Olivia thought about the question she wanted to ask, the stupider it sounded in her head. Surely Professor Stark had more important things to worry about and more. Before she got lost in her own inner monologue she took a breath and addressed the Professor. "Professor, I was thinking about taking muggle studies, the think is I'm muggle born so is there a point, everyone says for someone like me it would be too easy and that there's point, that can't be true can it? Muggles from a wizard side of things must be interesting enough for it to be a class? Surely the lesson isn't, this is electric it powers things instead of magic, this is a tv, this a toaster, blah blah, there's more right Professor?" Olivia was almost out of breath as she finished talking, as she realised just how much she had rambled on at the Professor she blushed a little bit and looked down at her feet. Professor Stark probably thought the girl was a raving loony.

Sloane listened carefully to what the young girl said and smiled in encouragement for her to keep talking. She could understand the girl's problem as she'd had a similar issue in school. She smiled and gestured for her to take a vague overview of the course. "To be honest with you, what was your name?" She smiled, "muggle studies is a subject that depends on the kind of career you want to go into." She started. "Depending on the line of work you go into, its all well and good to know about muggles, but if you want to get a ministry job for example, you need muggle studies on your transcript." She took a breath and thought about what else she could say. "In the junior classes a lot of it is basically learning about muggles but it gets more interesting as you stick with it. I'm not entirely sure of the program for the later years, you'd have to ask Professor Phillips about that, but its always interesting to see how they perceive each other and just because you know how to deal with muggles, doesn't mean you could appropriately do so when dealing with the magical community." She added, smiling. "Does anything that I said help you in any way?"

"Olivia, my name is Olivia Havelock," She beamed at the Professor as she went onto explain some of the things her part of the course offered. It sounded all very interesting but most of which she would know from first hand experience. The later stages of the course sounded like they would provide more of a challenge. The girl still wasn't sure if taking the course was for her or not but she was glad to see someone talk so passionately about it. "Thank you so much Professor, I'll have a chat with Professor Phillips if I can find him," Olivia grinned at the woman and went to see if she could find Professor Phillips.
