Steph walked up the steps to the owlery, she no longer had to stop half way, her many walks around the castle have stopped the pains in her legs and the shortage of breath she used to have when she walked up here.
She pulled out her letter from her bag and whistled for Wellie. 'Take this to my mom, make sure dad isnt there,' She said to Wellie, stroking her head.
The letter read.
Mom,
im sorry mom, ive been a total cow, i shouldnt of been so stubborn. I feel terrible, i feel that im the reason that stopped Alex from making up with you, i just really dont want you to hate me.
How are you coping? Have you got Elizabeth? She is okay isnt she? The letter never said.
Hows dad and Kayleigh? This cant be easy for either of them.
Its nearly the end of the semester, ill come home.
I love you,
Steph.

Wellie flew off with the letter in her beak, and Steph leant on a window sill, staring after her.

Willow made her way up to the Owlery not to write home. Really she had nothing to say to that wench Penelope. She was up here to visit Apollo. As she had chainged so had Laughing Apollo as she called him. He seemed to have lose his joy when she did. She saw that there was someone else there. Someone that she didn't know. It wasn't surpising. Willow hardly knew anyone at the school. She was planing on keeping it that way. Willow really didn't want to get close to anyone. "Hey." She said almost in a monotone. It wouldn't hurt to say hi to anyone though.

Steph turned, a girl she didnt recognize was standing there, 'Hey,' Steph smiled, 'Im Steph.'

Willow nodded but didn't smile. "Willow. I'm a Gryffendor and I'm guessing you are too because I think I've seen your hair before." She said holding her arm out. A menecing looking owl landed on her arm. "This is Laughing Apollo." She said then started to stroke the bird's chest.

Steph smiled and ran her thin hand through her hair, 'yes i am, second year. I havnt seen you round,' she stated. Smiling at the bird that landed on Willows arm. 'My owl Wellie is sending a letter, she should be back soon.' Steph looked out the window.

Willow nodded. "Second year too, I'm a tranfer from HS. It seems like a lot of people are. You sending to your family?" She asked looking out of the window. She wished she had someone to send letters to. She felt utterly alone.

'Um, well im trying to make up with my mother, we had an argumennt last year, and havnt spoken since, Steph didnt mention that she was only trying to make it up because her brother had just died.

Willow looked at Steph. Her eyes where large and disparing. Like she had lost all hope. "That's good treasure her and whatever family you have. You don't know how much you will miss them until they are gone." She said her voice still a sort of monotone. It had gotten that way since the summer. "Sorry if I seem a little out of it. I've locked myself in Gryffedor tower for a really long time." She said with a half smile.

Steph had the sudden urge to cry, Willows words had made the empty feeling in her chest ache. Steph sat down on the window sill, her legs had gone a bit unstable.
'My brother just died,' She blurted out.

Willow sighed and placed her hand on Steph's shoulder. "I'm sorry." She said. "I lost my mother recently." She said. Her voice was kinder but still a bit hollow. She couldn't get up any real heavy emotion up anymore.

Steph looked up at Willow, 'Im sorry, i guess i can kinda understand what its like to loose a parent, Alex was like a father to me, since we argued with my mom and dad..' Steph closed her eyes in an attempt to stop the tears.

Willow sat on the window still. She was sorry that she coused the girl sorrow. Maybe she would like to share. Willow could never share what she had been though but maybe she could help someone else with what they where going tough. "Care to tell me about what or is that to personal?" She asked. Willow took the edge out of her voice for the question. She was ready for tears if they came. Apollo moved to her shoulder making her look like a bit like Athena.

Steph looked at Willow, and sighed, 'last year, i decided i wanted to live with my brother in New Zealand, we went to Canada to tell mom and dad, but it all kicked off, i said things i shouldnt, alex called them lousy parents, everyone said things they didnt mean. Me and Alex left, havnt heard or spoke to them since. It was like we lost our parents, so we stuck together, remember what i said about him being a father figure. He did everything dads were supposed to do, on top of being my best friend and my brother.' Steph stopped, chewing her lip. And turning away from Willow, she wasnt going to cry, but it was best to look away, incase her face showed the pain she felt inside.

Willow looked out the window nodding. She remembered having arguments with her mother. What she wouldn't give to have them again. "I'm sorry. I guess everyone has falling outs with their parents. I don't talk to my aunt and we live in the same house. Well we used to now I live here and there is no way I'm going back for Christmas." She said. If it where up to Willow she would never see her Aunt Penelope again but she really did have to go back for summer. Fourtunetly she didn't have to see her much because of the stores around Obesten and Brightstone.

Steph sighed and turned back to Willow, she smiled weakly. 'But thats all in the past,' She said quietly.

'Really? That must be awkward,' Steph said, wondering how you could live in the same house with someone but not talk to them.

Willow nodded. "Be greatful. Your parents will most likely forgive you. I will never forgive Penelope for what she did. Never." She said a bitter edge to her voice. Penelope was the first Death Eater she was putting away for life. Willow shook her head. "never mind about that. I could use some help you see I haven't been keeping up with classes the way I should be and I was wondering if you could help me catch up." She said. It was a cover really but she really did need to make up all the work she missed.
