Open after @William Potter-Cade

It was no secret that Eurydice loved to go to dances and balls. She adored them, enjoyed dressing up, and liked to have fun dancing. With how challenging the semester had been, the Yule Ball was actually the only thing that she had been looking forward to. While the Halloween Feast was quite entertaining, dressing up in costumes, she realized, wasn't really her thing. Especially since it wasn't much of a ball as it was really just a food party. Her excitement was quite palpable for the whole thing, especially since William had so thoughtfully asked her to go with him to the Ball again. She'd had so much fun with him at last year's Ball and the Valentine's Dance that she'd been ecstatic. She'd hoped he would want to go again and it was a pleasant surprise that he wanted the same thing. This was going to be the best thing ever. She'd taken great care to look her best tonight and was putting the finishing touches on her hair before she noticed the time. Not wanting to keep William waiting for very long, she rushed out of the Common Room to meet him, waving at Theo-nii nearby. "Hi," she greeted William as she slowed her pace as she approached him.

Asking Eury to the Yule ball had been a no brainer. It had become their thing ever since the first time they’d attended a school event together and there was no one else he wanted to go with, so he was thrilled when she had agreed to go with him. He made sure everything about his suit fit right before. He got to the entrance to the Hufflepuff common and waited for his date to appear out of whichever of the barrels made way for the entrance. He beamed as she appeared coming out of the common room and made her way over to him. “You look amazing,” He kissed her cheek before taking her hand and leading her up to the common room so they could start having fun at the ball.

Jonah saw that quick kiss on the cheek William gave his cousin and couldn’t help but blush when he saw the interaction just as he walked by with Lumos. He didn’t know that his friend and cousin were already like that and he didn’t know how to feel about that.

Eurydice was not new to physical affection. She knew she had a tendency to be physically affectionate with hugs and small touches. Her parents and her siblings indulged her frequently. She was, however, new to people outside of her immediate family being affectionate with her. Elio-nii, of course, was an exception. He’d been a known fixture in their family for as long as she could remember, he was practically her brother, even more so now that he and Kael-nii were dating. Bottom line, she was used to being affectionate with William, with her always holding on to his arm or giving him kisses on the cheek when she feels particularly grateful. She was not expecting him to kiss her cheek out of nowhere. She could feel the heat on her cheeks as her face exploded into a blush and her jaw dropping in surprise and next thing she knew, he was holding her hand and pulling her towards the Great Hall. “W-what was that for?” she asked when she finally recovered, though her heart was still threatening to beat out of her chest.

They were almost to the Great hall by the time Eury finally spoke, evidentially him kissing her on the cheek had left her stunned. “Do I need a reason?” She was his date, wasn’t that what people did with their dates? Maybe she hadn’t liked it and that was why she has asked, if it was something she didn’t want him doing then he wouldn’t do it again, it was just what felt right in the moment. “I won’t do it again, if you didn’t like it,”

“N-no!” Eurydice could not believe that William was inadvertently getting her to admit that she liked the affection he just showered her with. It was unexpected. Certainly a surprise. She had always been the one to initiate affection betweent the two of them. So it was a pleasant surprise to be on the receiving end this time. Didn’t mean she was prepared for it or that he wasn’t causing her heart to nearly beat out of her chest, butterflies flutter around her stomach, and a red hue on her cheeks. “I- I was just surprised is all,” she said as she squeezed his hand while telling herself it made no sense to be shy around William now. And yet here she was. “I… I liked it… It was nice,” she mumbled and can’t bring herself to look at him as she felt her cheeks heat up further up to the tips of her ears at the admission.

William smiled as she they approached the open door to the great hall and walked inside. It was a winter wonderland, a cornered off ice rink in the corner, Christmas decorations filling every rafter, there was no mistaking the theme of the event. How odd that the temperature outside was the complete opposite of the vibe the great hall gave off. “Good, I liked it too, I don’t know you’re surprised its not like we haven’t kissed before,” William teased her, he let go of her hand so he could pick up two cups from one of the refreshment tables and handed it to her. “We should ice skate before the end of this, it looks fun,”

He was totally right, but it wasn't like Eurydice could help it! They'd already kissed like two times, maybe three, during that whole truth or dare fiasco in their first year, which frankly felt like forever ago. Besides, it was such a chaotic time! And Eury had kissed him and Ondine mostly because of the chaos. It was all fun and games then. This... This felt different. And it was a struggle to figure out why it was different now. Perhaps cause even in truth or dare, Eury had been the one to make a move. This time it had been William taking the lead, which was making her all different levels of flustered. And his teasing was very much not helping, but at least it made her look at him, if only to pout. "Shut up," she grumbled. So eloquent. She took the drink anyway and took a sip before she lit up at the mention of ice skating. "Ooooh, why don't we go now!" she said as she set her drink down and started to playfully pull him towards the rink, both hands on his arm - not that she could really pull him anywhere if he didn't want to be moved. It was still early enough that there weren't many people in the rink, but that could change, and she'd rather do it now than have to wait later because there were too many people. "Pretty please?"

William should have expected an excited Eury to want to go ice skating right then and there, she wasn’t one for waiting around for something she wanted. He wasn’t one to deny her something she wanted so he smiled and nodded at his date, taking her free hand in his again. “Let’s go,” He said gently pulling her towards the ice rink. “Have you done this before? I haven’t so I’ve no idea what’s gonna happen when I try this,”

Eurydice would not have been able to hide such a huge grin even if she tried. She let him take her hand and let him lead them both to the rink while she nodded excitedly. “I’ve done it a few times. Yuki-nee, Jonah’s older sister, skates and she does it so prettily,” she said with a sigh. It was certainly going to be interesting to have William on the ice considering he’s never done it and she was no expert. Well, it should be fine. They weren’t going on the ice to compete or anything, just to have a bit of fun before they enjoyed the rest of the ball. She doubted they’d both stay on the ice for very long. “Don’t worry, I’ll hold your hand the whole time,” she teased before she got them both skates - thank Merlin they lend those out. It was easy enough to put the skates on and give William pointers on how to stay on his feet on the ice. Honestly, she was just a little bit nervous for that first step on the ice, but when she kept her balance and didn’t slip, she turned to William so he could hold both of her hands and she could try teaching him how to skate. “Come on, I won’t let you fall alone I promise,” she said amused.

William was glad to hear that Eury had ice skated before, maybe he wouldn't look like a complete idiot if he had someone who knew what she was doing propping him up. Or he'd look even worse, only time would tell but the idea of Eury holding his hand through the whole thing was appealing, so there was that. Her choice of words for her encouragement might not have given the vibe she had been going for, falling wasn't something he was going for, doing it alone or with company wouldn't matter one way or another. "If it's all the same to you Eury, I'd prefer to avoid falling all together," He laughed as they both started to pull on stakes and tentatively started stepping onto the ice.

"But falling's half the fun," Eurydice laughed with him. Well, her plan was to not let either of them fall but it's also not like she's had consistent practice with being on the ice. She was going to try her best either way, but oh well. "Alright, alright, I'll make sure you don't fall," she giggled as she pulled him out from the edge of the rink towards a spot where there were fewer people. "Just bend your knees a little and look at me," she smiled up at him. She'd always found that looking at the feet made one a lot more conscious of how they were moving, and it was a lot easier to slip like that. It was probably fine if he was alone, but she was there, and she'd promised him she wouldn't let him fall over. She made sure to keep an eye if he were in any danger of falling, but she was going slow and had his hands held tightly in hers. Once they'd reached a spot in the middle where they were unlikely to bump into other students, she stopped them both, though she had to use her body weight to get him to stop since she didn't exactly teach him how to brake which ended up with her close to him in an almost hug. Once she'd gotten him to stop, she pulled away slightly, flushed and grinning up at him. "How's that for your first ice skating?" All in all, she thinks they'd done well up to this point. "Wanna try standing on your own?" she says her head nodding at their joined hands.

William liked the sound of Eury's giggle, it was cute and he wanted to hear more of it. He'd just have to be funny to make it happen. He followed her lead and pushed out more towards the middle of the rink, away from the safety of the barriers but also the people. William was unsteady on his feet but he followed Eury's advice and looked at her, he watched her move gracefully and was comforted by her presence, and so far he hadn't fallen. Eury came to a sudden stop and without any idea of how to stop himself he continued until his body met hers, he rocked back on his heels to try and slow down otherwise he ran the risk of running Eury over, instead the two of them ended up very close to each other, almost as if they were hugging. "I didn't know ice skating would be so intimate," He laughed with her, "We might have to do this more often," He teased and slowly started to pull away from her to try and stand on his own. "Ah see, this is less fun,"
