Kiera sighed as she sat down on the edge of the cliff. She had been thinking a lot lately about the upcoming Yule Ball. It wasn't like she was dying to go. But. She would like to go. Kiera liked getting all dressed up and dancing. However no one had asked her. Kiera considered herself to be attractive. She was short for her age, only 5' 2', but she had a good figure. She was slim and well toned from her years of gymnastics training. Her curly brown hair fell midway down her back, framing her face nicely. Overall, she was a pretty girl. Still, no one had asked her.

Kiera picked a pebble off the ground. She twisted it in and out of her fingers as she thought about the previous Yule Balls. Out of the five, Kiera had a date for three of them. Steel had gone the first year with her but then his parents pulled him out of school and she hadnt seen him since. Then she had gone with Bruin twice, one year had been more eventful than the other one, but both had been fun. One year, Mike had been her unoffical date for part of the night. And once she had attended the festivities alone. Kiera was not sure she wanted to attend another one alone.

Kiera sighed again as she threw the pebble over the cliff.

Alex ran through the grounds, looking back behind him to see if he was far enough out of site. Pleased that he was, he wondered where to hide, knowing he couldn't go back in eyesight. Cheaters only win Hide and Seek. He out his finger to his mouth, before looking in the direction of the cliffs.
You wouldn't dare, but then..he'd never think you'd dare..would he? No..but still..it's a nasty dare if I lose this.
He decided finally. Walking quietly, he walked towards the cliff before a girl came in his sights. Right on the edge. His breath held for a moment as he watched her throw the pebble over the edge. Kiera? he thought as the girl became recognizable. What's she?
He walked up behind her and placed his hands gently on her shoulders, hoping to give her a fright. 'Boo' he whispered in her ear, smiling.

Kiera did not hear Alex as he approached her from behind. She nearly jumped as someone put their hands on her shoulders and whispered in her ear. Her heart was racing. She was definitatly startled to say the least. Kiera turned her head to find that it was Alex. Of course..she thought to herself. She glared at him. "Were you trying to give me a heart attack?" she asked. She shook her head before smiling at him. Kiera was sure he was greatly amused by the fright he had given her.

Alex smiled as he heard Kiera's intake of breath. 'Nope. I was trying to throw you over the edge. You were too grumpy'he told her, totally serious. He waited for her to glare at him again before he gave up and said, 'I'm joking'he told her, straightening up again and messing up her hair playfully.
Alex sat down next to her, though he didn't go right to the edge. Rather quite a bit away from the edge. 'So what's a busy and gorgeous prefect doing out here all by her self, 'specially when there are first years with burning hair running about the school?'he asked her, joking about the first years bit. Not quite with the gorgeous bit though. Kiera was one of the better looking girls out this school and the fact she wasn't as bad as some of the girls with their looks, made it all better. At least in Alex's opinion.

Kiera rolled her eyes as Alex said he was going to throw her over the edge. He might enjoy a good laugh at his pranks but he wasnt cruel. At least not in her opinion. Alex ruffled Kiera's hair. She laughed and shook her head so that her hair straightened out some. She wasnt one to fuss over every hair being in its exact place.
Kiera grinned. "I figured I would let the other prefects deal with the first years. Its my day off. Plus who cares if they lose a few hairs." she teased. "And now your here so Im not alone." she said simply. She wasnt about to confess that she had really been thinking about the upcoming Yule Ball.

Alex looked shocked. 'but your a prefect. It's your duty to care' he teased, sticking his tongue out at her. He smiled. 'True but you were alone. Nobody want to break the rules with you anymore?'he asked her, before hearing a bird crowing. He looked over the to sound direction before looking back at Kiera. 'You done any studying yet?'he asked wondering if he was the last one to even think about it. He had just been having so much fun lately and he didn't want to spoil it by studying for the upcoming exams.

Kiera stuck her tounge back out at Alex. She put a sad look on her face. "Sadly, I have no friends. So therefore no one to break the rules with." she said pretending. In truth, she had many friends but they were all too busy studying for their exams.
Kiera nodded her head at Alex's question. "I have been but today was just too pretty to sit indoors and study. I would much rather be here in the sun." she said grinning.

Alex laughed. 'Oh gee. thanks. Do I not class as a friend anymore?'he joked with her smiling. He rolled his eyes as she answered his last question. 'Great. I'm the only one who hasn't done anything yet'
Alex sighed before bitting his tongue thinking. 'What can you possibly do out here? It's like soo quiet really'he complained, though he really did mean it. There wasn't anyone to annoy, not even an animal in sight to scare. Just talking and seeing who falls down the cliff to their death first.

Kiera laughed. "Of course you count as a friend. I was just teasing." she said smiling playfully. She looked off over the cliffs and down. It was a long way down. She liked the silence. Kiera smiled as she heard Alex's question. It would seem that way to him.
Kiera turned to look at him. She smiled as she realized just how handsome he was. And it didnt hurt that he had a sense of humor. "I come here to think. Its not a bad spot if you dont want first years around constantly." Kiera said with a shrug. The first years were seeming to take over the castle these days.

Alex stuck his tongue out at Kiera. 'That's why you set their hair on fire. Then they move, and you can stay where you are' he joked though she did have point. It was quite good to get rid of first years. Not many would come out here. He sighed. 'Ok, you win that round'he joked smiling. He looked out over the cliff, not exactly thrilled with the heights. 'I can't wait till the yule ball'he randomly said, mostly to himself but still partially to Kiera.

Kiera rolled her eyes as Alex teased about setting the first years hair on fire. She laughed as she realized he might not be joking. She shook her head at them. "Maybe I will try that next time." she said with a sly smile.
In the comfortable silence, her thoughts returned to the Yule ball. Again, she considered not attending the ball though in all likelyhood she would end up going alone. She was surprised as Alex spoke again, saying he was looking forward to the ball. It seemed their thoughts were on the same wave link.
Kiera grinned at him. "I bet you just cant wait to show off your wicked dance moves." she said playfully. Kitty had told her what a good dancer Alex was.

Alex looked at her with a raised eyebrow. 'I wonder when the last time you went to the Yule Ball was,'he thought aloud, teasing her. 'You obviously don't know my style thanks'he told her, before turning back to look at the ground, plucking a few blades of grass out.

Kiera laughed. "If you must know, I went to the Yule Ball last year with the head boy himself." she said. Of course, Bruin was just a friend to Kiera. He had been one of her first friends at the beginning of her first year. He had even gone to the dreaded first visit with her mother. Kiera remember how nice he had been to join her when she had been so scared. "When was the last time you went mister?" she teased Alex back.

Alex laughed. 'Last year too.'he replied smiling. 'Anyway, I haven't got that many new wicked moves this year,'he added smiling. Looking back at her. 'So you going this yea?'he asked her, just curious at the time. he knew he was going but he didn't want to go without a date again this year. It was really against the traditions as such. According to the girls anyhow. Having the common room ruled, Alex did take it's advantages of ease dropping a lot. And was a bit annoyed to find the boys, all the boys, were meant to ask a girl to the ball.

Kiera laughed with Alex. She felt comfortable with him. "I bet not everyone remembers all your moves." she pointed out. She knew most of the boys at this school couldnt dance. She heard his question and shrugged. "I am still not sure. I have attended two balls dateless. One was fun the other one wasnt. I havent been asked so I am not sure if I want to go or not." she admitted to him. "Are you going this year?" she asked. Kiera assumed he was since he was attractive there was probably girls falling at his feet to go with him. Plus he had said he was looking forward to it.

Alex laughed as she asked him if he was going. 'Yeah. I wouldn't of said I was looking forward to it unless I was going. Though, if I'm going with anybody if a different story.'he answered smiling. 'You should go. I'll promise you a dance, your choice of song'he told her, winking his eye at her.

Kiera laughed as he said he would save her a dance. "I probably will end up going. Especially if I get to dance with you." she said half teasingly and half serious.
"My roommates have plans to get dressed together. I have a feeling I will get dragged in. No doubt they will end up fixing my hair and putting makeup on me." she said making a face. Kiera had little use for makeup on her flawless skin. It was too much trouble and she didnt need it. She sighed and shrugged her shoulders.
"Sometimes its just more fun to have a date." she said, even though she knew she didnt need one.

Alex laughed as Kiera made a face about putting make up on. 'What's wrong with make-up? It smells really good actually'he told Kiera, nodding along with it. He was making it up of course, though he didn't mind it when girls wore make up. At least it showed they put some effort into impressing everyone. 'Not really, not if you have to dance with me. You don't even need to stay the whole night then'he told her, hoping she would get the joke. It was one bad dancers used all the time, the kind of dancers that stood on people's toes all the time.

Kiera looked at Alex. "Make up? It really just doesnt do anything extra for me. Or at least I dont think it does. But if I go to the Yule Ball I will be wearing some." she said with a smile. Kiera was just a natural type of pretty. Kiera laughed at his joke. "You will probably dance circles around me." she teased. "I will have to leave in shame." she said jokingly.

Alex laughed. 'Probably'he agreed, smiling. He thought for a minute about what would happen if he asked Kiera to go with him. Would she? he thought, though she was sort of anyway. A dance was booked kind of with her. But Alex did that with every girl he knew and talked to who said they weren't going. Not that they all came in the end anyway. 'I can just imagine it. Kiera shame faced, is leaving the ball. Her dance partner is left scratching his head. what an idiot,'he commented joking

Kiera laughed at hit Alex playfully. It might be worth going to the dance just to have one dance with him. She liked Alex and always had a good time with him. "I am jealous of Kitty's dancing. Maybe if I could dance like her I wouldnt have to leave shame faced." she teased. Kiera was fairly good at dancing, but she was sure Alex was still much better. She felt intimidated, a feeling that rarely happened to her. She grinned at him. "I am sure people are lining up to dance with the champion dancer." she joked. In truth, Kiera hoped that wasnt the case at all.

Alex laughed. 'Yeah, but that dancing isn't the kind of dancing that goes on in the yule ball. You can't get any beats out of the music played. Well, none fast enough'he mentioned before grinning. 'Absoloutely. I'll be top of that queue though, since I promised you first'he said, think Kiera had meant she was the champion dancer.

Kiera laughed as he explained that he couldnt get a proper beat from it.
"Well thats better for me isnt it? I still dont know if I can keep up with you." she said teasingly.
She was happy he had promised her the first dance but she couldnt help wishing she got to spend the whole ball with him.
He was very entertaining and fun.

Alex smiled. 'I'm sure you will. You can't be that bad.'he disagreed, shaking his head. 'If you're anything like Kat, then you're fine'he added, sticking his tongue out her. 'So what kind of music do you like?'he asked, just curious.

Kiera laughed as he told her if she was like Kat she was fine. "We might have a problem there. We are complete oppisites." she said laughing again. She heard his question and shrugged her shoulders. "Mostly muggle music. I like hip hop, rap, pop, rock, and country. I like older music too. Especially from the 80's and such." Kiera said smiling. Her musical tastes were all over the place. "What about you?" she asked.
