Lola had, yet again, skipped out on going for a swim with her roommates seeing as how she was totally uncomfortable in a bathing suit when she was around anyone. Instead she opted to grab her guitar and head down to the gardens hoping that maybe today she'd find some sort of inspiration because that seriously seemed to be lacking as of late. Finding a nice secluded bench the Ravenclaw sat down, one leg on either side of the bench, and opened her notebook in front of her placing a pen down with it. Lola situated her guitar and strummed and hummed for over half an hour before finally giving a frustrated groan and flinging the notebook and pen a few feet away from her onto the ground. If she was one of those people that cried in these sorts of circumstances than she'd probably be in tears right now, but as it were she very rarely cried.

After another ten minutes or so the brunette started strumming again before finally going into an old muggle song that she'd heard loads of times when she was little. It still amazed her that she could always do so well playing songs that belonged to others, but couldn't manage to either finish her own or once they were finished she couldn't manage to sing them in front of others due to embarrassment. It seemed that Lola Mason was doomed to merely be a cover artist...never to sing her own songs.

The magicial music device in Sam's pocket bounced lightly with every movement of his leg as he jogged through the Hogwarts lawn. He was beginning to build up a sweat which only meant one thing; he was having a good training session. Sam was training extra hard this year not only to have the stamina to play his very best in the school Quidditch tournament. But to have the stamina to play professionally in just a couple of years time. Sam was in his fifth year and although that seemed hard for Sam to believe, he had to accept the fact that time was passing and it wasn't slowing down for anyone. As most other fifth years kept to their study or homework timetables, Sam kept to his own, fitness timetable.

His earphones blared music loudly in his ears and he was pretty sure students who he passed by could hear it. However, he didn't take much heed to this, there was only one way to appreciate some kinds of music and that was loudly. Sam jogged into the hogwarts gardens, he was almost back to the castle and he couldn't have been more pleased. Using the back of his arm, Sam wiped his forehead free from any drops of sweat that accumulated from the sheer heat of the blazing sun. The scent of the flowers reached his nose and he inhaled the smell deeply as he quickly passed through only to come to a slow stop as his foot stepped on some sort of object. Curiously, Sam took the earphones out from his ears and allowed them to fall onto his t-shirt, just hanging over the collar of his t-shirt.As his ears adjusted to the quieter surroundings, Sam spotted what had caused him to stop. It was a notebook, Sam looked around for a student who may have possibly owned it. However, he heard her before he seen her.

Lola Mason - quiet as a mouse, yet Sam felt there was always something intriguing about the girl. Not having spoken to her..ever really, Sam didn't know wheter to even return the notebook to her. Would it even be his place? The fifteen year old eventually decided that it would be the right thing to do and so Sam bent over and picked up the notebook and the pen next to it. It was only then that he fully allowed the music to consume him. Being a huge fan of muggle music himself, Sam instantly recognised the song and she was playing it beautifully. As much as he attempted to play that song, he never managed to pull it off. Sam waited until she was finished before walking over to her, slowly almost cautiously. "That was really great." He said truthfully to her, his voice was clear but soft so that he would make his presence known without alarming her too much.

Sorry for the delay in posting

Lola nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard someone approach and address her. For a moment she just stupidly sat and stared at the boy. Finally words found her again, though they came out meekly as usual. "Um, thank you. That's very polite of you to say so," she said turning her gaze from him. The Ravenclaw never understood why social situations were so difficult for her, but as it were every time she found herself in a situation where she had to absolutely speak then she always seemed at a loss for words. Lola knew it sure as heck wasn't a genetic thing because Merlin only knew that neither Serena or Kat (especially Kat) were awkward in moments like these. Glancing down at his hand she saw that he had picked up her notebook that she had flung across the ground out of frustration. Grimacing slightly she said, "Thanks for picking that up. I swear I usually don't litter like that."

no problem! ;)

With a laid back shrug of his broad shoulders, Sam smiled down at her, "That's alright, I believe you." His tone of voice held a certain amount of playfulness to it, his facial expression too. Sam held out the notebook for Lola to take and as things became quiet he really didn't know what to do. In most social situations, Sam could muster out a few words but never having even spoken to this girl before, made it a hell of a lot more harder than it usually was. Sam's dark blue eyes looked from Lola to her guitar, there! conversation! he quickly reminded himself. Sam loved music and it was clear that Lola too, held some sort of interest in it.

Sam cleared his throat, "Seriously though. That was great, that song is tricky." His feeble attempts at the song were nothing compared to what he heard of Lola's cover. "How long have you been playing for?" He asked while trying to make some sort of estimation in his head. It was obvious that she was playing for quite some time because her fingers had so effortlessly pressed on each chord, reaching each note with perfection. Either that, or she could have been some sort of musical prodigy that had picked it all up within a week, Sam honestly didn't know.
