Why walk when you can slide

Geo was pretty confident she must have had a growth spurt over the summer, because she was becoming much more clumsy than she once had been, plus as the third year stood in front of the mirror a month prior to Halloween she realised her intended outfit was no longer going to fit. After proceeding to spend the next four weeks coming up with an idea that might amuse her friends though, she settled on attending the Halloween feast as the sorting hat. She'd managed to make a large version of the hat she saw in the Great Hall during the ceremonies, gathering enough material that she could be covered but with just enough room to walk. As the day of the Halloween feast approached, Geo decided last minute to add an additional feature to her costume, as while she only had the smallest of eye holes to peer out of in her hat, it would have been much more fun if she could glide across the floor instead. Grabbing a pair of skates that had been sent to her from St. Mary's a short while back, Geo plodded herself carefully to the direction of the Great Hall, only once getting stuck in a doorway. She decided to wait until she was just about to enter the hall to put the skates on. She didn't need to be rolling down the stairs on her journey. Once she made it to the celebration, she skated through the main doors, focusing on keeping her balance while navigating through the crowd as best as a giant hat could. She'd already come to the realisation that eating and drinking were probably out of the question, but the Hufflepuff was content with skating around the outside edge of the hall, seeing what other costumes the students had arrived in.

Elly her costume was a bit big, but she loved her costume. Her goal was to have seven really silly costumes in her time at Hogwarts and thus far it was going well. She had already an idea for next year, but now it was a pinata. Elly was searching for her friends and then she spotted Geo. Geo had told her what kind of costume she was going to wear and she wasn't hard to find into the mass of people in the Great Hall. There was only one person dressed as a giant sorting hat with roller skates on. Elly didn't dare to walk through the mass so she opted to walk around them. She finally arrived at Geo and smiled. ''Hey girl, you look ridiculous'' Elly meant it as a compliment. She wondered if Geo could even see through the thing.

Geo was just about managing to see the both the new arrivals and those that were already here, but it had escaped her notice that her best friend had arrived. She heard her voice first, and had to turn on the spot sixty degrees to even be able to face her, which was easier said than done on skates. Usually Geo was the type of person to greet her friends with a hug, but since her arms had to remain by her side underneath the dark material of her oversized hat, the Hufflepuff had to settle for attempting to rest her head, and the pointy end of the outfit, upon her friends shoulder for a moment. Geo of course took no offence from the Ravenclaws comment, and instead blindly grinned at her. "Thank you!" Geo had to shout in order to be heard both over the noise of the people and music in the room, as well as to get her voice acoustically balanced from within. Geo hated using any kind of her Metamorphic ability on her costumes, and as fun as it had been in her first year to dress as Professor Pendleton, she felt more satisfied with herself when she'd put actual work into it. Despite knowing that Elly was going to be arriving dressed in a pinata, she was impressed even more so to see it in person. Her best friend always put so much effort into the outfits she wore for Halloween and her's was nothing less than ridiculous too. "Sweetie, you look amazing!" She said glancing up and down and acknowledging her design, pun completely intended. "Do you think the others are coming?" she asked, referring to the other members of the IC. Geo hadn't spoken to Jess Leila or Vil for what felt like months, and all she knew from Sophie was that she was spending more of her time recently with another Ravenclaw.

When Geo let her head rest on her shoulder Elly giggled. ''Your costume is almost impossible'' It was true, Geo couldn't even eat or drink with the contraption on. It did look amazing and much work had been put into it. Geo always hugged her and the fact that she couldn't hug now made Elly believe that she couldn't do anything in the costume. The music was loud and Geo shouted the response back.

When Geo complimented her costume Elly smiled. She had put much work into it and to make the Pinata hang over he shoulders was a bit hard. Elly didn't like buying a costume, she usually made them herself. ''Thanks'' Elly smiled, but she wondered if Geo could see it. When Geo asked about the others Elly didn't really know. She hadn't spoken anyone and she had only seen Sophie over the holiday. She had stayed at her place and it had been wonderful. ''I have no clue, I think so, some of them actually love parties like these.'' Elly wondered if Geo had heard anything from Jess or Leila. ''And you?''
