Why is it so important to wear a dress anyway?

The night of the Yule Ball, great. Becca wasn't looking forwards to this a bit. Dancing; she didn't mind, not having a date; she could deal with it. Dresses. Maybe not... She could have worn a long shirt with jeans, but no. Her friends simply had to dress her up, and as much as she loved them, she would not let them. She was a Marino girl, and Marino girls were not to be messed with. She waited in the fifth floor girls bathroom, sitting on the counter. Three hours before the ball started, three hours that Becca could spend not doing her homework, pranking someone, or having a paper snowball fight in the common room.

It was the night of the Yule Ball, and although Emi wasn't going with anyone she didn't mind. She would be going with her best friends and that was all that mattered. She wandered down the fifth floor corridor, which was suprisingly empty. She guessed most people were getting ready for the Yule Ball. She came to the door of the girls bathroom and opened it with her foot looking in to see if anyone was there.

"Hey Becca!" she said when she noticed her sitting on a counter. "I got some stuff" Emi smiled, by stuff, she meant her makeup box and her Yule Dress and shoes. Emi's makeup box was heaps of fun. It had many things that Emi had used over the years. She had even practised on her little sister and had became quite good at making scary masks and scars; not that she would be doing that tonight.

She hauled it over to her and dumped it on the counter beside her. Looking over at Becca's face she giggled

"Its not that bad" she paused "one night" she gave her a puppy face laughing.

Katie stood in her dorm room, fiddling with her hair. Her usually bushy hair was done up elegantly and she was wearing her usual kind of clothes: faded blue jeans and a t-shirt that read 'Stand up, Stand out, Be happy'. Katie would put on her Yule Ball dress later, first she had to help Becca. She was going to the ball alone, but she didn't care at all, she'd have a bit of fun anyway.

Katie exited her common room and began to decend the stairs. She walked into the bathroom where she was supposed to be meeting the other two. "Hey guys." she said, setting her bag down beside a sink. Her bag had somg makeup, hair accessories and her own ball gown. "So, what should we d first?" she asked Emi, looking at Becca. "We won't kill you, promise!" she laughed.
