Daryl gave himself a small frown as he sat next to a young girl. He had initially had no intention of sitting at the Ravenclaw table - besides, he was a Hufflepuff. But his friends had let him down, and were gathered at one end of the table with no space for an extra small person. So, Daryl placed himself next to the Ravenclaw. There was no doubt about whether he was hungry, and he tucked into the feast with relish, though still remembering his manners. At first, he did not even turn to look at the girl. He had barely remembered she was there until he was half way through a chicken drumstick. He didn't get food like this at home. There was barely enough for one. As Daryl started feeling full, he wiped his hands on a paper towel and finally looked at who he was sitting next to. She was younger than he had imagined, but he still gave her a smile. She was very pretty for her age, and Daryl expected she wouldn't even need to wear make-up to be pretty.
Daryl was surprised at his own thoughts. He had never felt this way towards girls, he had just counted them as another type of human being. He was starting to realise they weren't - and at 15, it was about time. He gave the girl a grin anyway, placing his paper towel back on his plate and sitting awkwardly.'Hi,' he said slightly nervously, knowing she would wonder why he was sitting at her table, and next to her. It must have been strange. But hopefully she wasn't going to be weirded out by him, and was going to reply!
