It was still daylight, curfew only but a few hours away, classes had ended on a good note and Briony had managed to finish her homework promptly after the last lesson of the day. She was always prompt in completing her assignments and she made sure to keep an eye on the sky so she could be in the common room directly before the last bell for curfew rang. She was bored. Bored with school already, and it was time to step a few toes out of line.

Hanging around the edge of the Forbidden Forest was NOT against the rules, was it? She grinned feeling rebellious, although unbeknownst to herself she was not doing anything remotely wrong, she had only convinced herself she was breaking some minor school rule. She was so desperate to make herself known, yet to afraid to take any chances and get in trouble. This would do for now, although the lure of the forest was tempting, and Briony had to check herself so she would not enter into the unknown.

Xavier was out for a little stroll with a few friends of his to gather a few things for a task given by a Professor. He was walking and all of a sudden saw a student near the Forbidden Forest. He thought, "What in the hell is the bloody student doing there near the forbidden forest? She should know that going inside is a bad idea." Xavier then told his friends that he will meet them back at Hogwarts and proceeded towards the girl. He then reached the girl and proceeded to saying, "You shouldn't be here, it's not safe. Get back to Hogwarts or you'll suffer the consequences. Understand?" Hamza was trying to scare the girl a little bit. He then said, "I'm Xavier btw."

Briony's eyes widened at the boy cornered her and confronted her. Her heart beat fast, and her hands shook a little, never before having encountered a situation like this. She quickly reminded herself of what her older sister would do, and stepped forward with a determined look upon her face. "I'm not in the forest, so technically I am not breaking any rules!" The boy looked about her age, so she knew he couldn't be a prefect nor a teacher. "Besides, unless you are a tattle tell I won't get in any trouble....also..." She smiled. "You are near the forest too."

The girl was a little worried and scared, so that gave Xavier a little bit of an edge. He looked at the forest and replied, "I don't care if I am close to the forest, what matter's is if you can protect yourself if you get in any trouble." He then looked back at the girl and said, "I was home schooled for a bit, so I know a few spells to keep myself safe, but you, on the other hand won't be able since your are just a clueless second year like everyone else. Do yourself a favor and got back to Hogwarts. I won't tell a soul about you or anything, you can count of that, I'm no tattle tale." Hamza turned around at looked to see if anyone else was in the view and saw no one. He then turned back to the girl and said, "Why do you even want to do to the Forbidden Forest anyway?"

"Actually I'm a second year, you clueless baboon." Briony smiled happily, feeling as if she had bested him. "I know spells as well, so I am not dim, like you apparantly are." She still wouldn't tell him her name for fear he would find out which house she was in a tell her head of house about being near the forest. "Do myself a favor? I just think you want to get rid of me...well, I am not leaving because if it will annoy you then I am winning." She crossed her arms defiantly. "I took a walk, if that's any of your business."

((OOC: Sorry, I forgot you were a second year, I made a mistake writing first year. lol ))

Xavier walked closer to the Forbidden Forest and heard noises coming from there, very scary noises. He then turns around and says, "Do you hear those noises? Do you want to be one to create the noise in the forest?" Xavier then looked at her robes and said, "Ah, so you are a Ravenclaw second year." Xavier walked up to the girl and said, "Get rid of you? I can get rid of you right now if I want and no one would even find you. You taking a walk doesn't concern me, but what does concern me is if you are near Restricted Areas." Xavier of course couldn't get rid of the girl, but he was just trying to scare her. "You want to go into the Forbidden Forest?"

"Try it, first year." Briony said. "I know waaay more spells than you, even if you were 'homeschooled.'" She pulled out her wand and faced the forest. "I'm not stupid enough to go into the forest when I hear noises like that. Standing on the edge and walking into that are two completely different things." She secretly dared him to call her a coward, and perhaps she was but in her Ravenclaw mind she was only being logical about the situation. "I shouldn't concern you at all. If you would mind your own business then you still be having a great time with your friends."

((I so enjoy putting Briony in confrontations...she so unused to them...))

"I have no intention of getting rid of you, I have already stated that." As she pulled out her wand and faced the forest, Xavier said, "You think you can take on whatever is in there? I'd like to see you try to do that. I'll give you 100 Galleons if you think you can protect yourself being a petty second year student." Xavier saw her pull out her wand and Xavier pulled both of his hands behind him, pretending to be a gentlemen, but he was actually prepared if she were to use a spell on him. "You aren't my concern, but your safety is my concern. I've made a vow with someone in the past, so I've got to keep it no matter what."

"No, I don't plan on going in there." Briony told him calmly. "But if something jumps out at us, I'd at least want to go down fighting." The noise in the forest faded, and it seemed as if all were at peace again. "100 galleons would mean nothing to me when I'm ripped to shreds." She put her wand away, and stepped a few feet away from the edge of the forest, and faced Xavier. "What does that vow have to do with me?" She asked curiously. "This is the first time we've ever met."

Xavier was glad to see her putting the wand away and stepping away from the Forbidden Forest. He then walked two feet away from her, looked at the sky and said, "I appreciate you listening to me. The vow has nothing to do with you, but with me. It is a long story, and I'm not sure if you'd be interested in listening anyways since I am a nobody to you." Xavier was getting a bit personal with the girl.

Briony was tempted to leave but her interests were perked when Xavier offered to tell her the story. "Yes, I'd like to hear."

Xavier started to kick a few rocks off the ground, he put his hands inside his pants. He then said, "Well, it's involving my father due to the reasoning of his past. My father was once a student here at Hogwarts long ago." Xavier took a little pause and said, "He was forced to go along with two of his friends into the Forbidden Forest. At that time, my father was a 5th year student, so he could handle himself pretty well. He tried to reason with his friends to leaving, but they did not listen and continued on. While they were walking, they were attached by a few Death Eaters and a few other animals. My father managed to make it out alive, but barely. On the flip side, his close friends weren't lucky, they died while trying to escape. " Xavier looked at the ground and said, "Before coming to Hogwarts, my father made me promise him that I would never go into the Forbidden Forest and I would stop other students as well from going in to the Forest, even if it mean't fighting with them or for them. Now do you understand?"

Briony listened to him and suddenly is hostility towards her going into the forest made sense. She was still a little annoyed that he had confronted her so aggressively but she was a very forgiving person and suddenly a smile flitted across her lips. "I understand. Don't worry, I won't be going into the forest. I'm to frightened anyway." She admitted, feeling a bit embarrassed. "I'm sorry that happened to your dad, but I'm glad he made you swear that oath."

Xavier was glad to see her agreeing with him. He then said, "I'm glad we have come to an understanding. It's not common for me to get aggressive so easily, I rarely get aggressive, but only on certain matters that I do get aggressive. I apologize for my rather rude approach." Xavier then was clueless as to what her name was. He then asked her, "Hey, what's your name? I didn't catch your name. Xavier smiled at the girl.

"Me too." Briony agreed, feeling a little better now that they were on friendly terms. "I'm Briony Harper." She informed him. "Second year Ravenclaw." She was proud of that fact. "What house are you in?" It was getting a bit dark now and the sounds in the forest were beginning up again. She began to walk farther away from it, and grabbed the handle of her wand, feeling more secure.

((OOC: Hey, I have an idea to keep this thread going. It involves both of us being attacked by a something that comes out of the forest. Want to keep going? ))

"Nice to meet you Briony Harper." Xavier was glad to see that him and her are on good terms now and the aggressive moments are now over. "I'm a Slytherin First Year student." Hamza also heard noises from the forest, but that didn't scare him at all, although he saw Briony get scared a little bit and grabbed her wand. "Don't worry, I don't think anyone will be coming out of the forest."

Although Briony was not one to make assumptions based on which house someone was in, it did make a lot more sense about the way he acted. He wasn't exactly a 'typical' Slytherin but his attitude exhibited some qualities. "Perhaps not. I think though...." She wanted to be more daring, and not be a cowardly Ravenclaw. The sounds had died once again, so she took a step towards the forest, and allowed her feet to lead her into the dark abyss.

Xavier was talking to Briony and heard no reply. He turned around to see that Briony was heading towards the Forbidden Forest. Xavier then said, "Where do you think your going?" Xavier followed Briony because he could not let her go in there alone.

After a few minutes, both had reached inside the Forbidden Forest. Xavier then says, "I told you not to come in here, I told you didn't I? Why did you come in here?" Xavier was shocked at what Briony had just done. He followed her blind eyed that he couldn't remember which way was out, it would seem that both of them were now lost. "Great, what do we do now? We are lost." Xavier then all of a sudden something taking deep breathes from a little distance away, something evil. "What's that noise. It's getting closer and closer."

"I'm going into the Forest. I want to be brave....Like other students." Briony answered with determination. She figured that Xavier would think her foolish, and perhaps she was but at least they would have an adventure together and maybe a friendship based on that. "I know you did....but I'm glad you followed." She said genuinely. They were a little lost, everything looked the same, the trees waved threatengly at them, and the sun dipped lower and lower away. The shadows from the trees made it almost completely dark, so Briony pulled out her wand whispered, "Lumos" suddenly illuminating the forest around them. "We'll explore."

The growling and sound sounds of running started up again, and the realization of what she had done suddenly sunk in. "Oh no...oh no..."

"Of course you want to be brave, who wouldn't want to be, but there is a difference between being brave and being foolish." As Briony pulled out her wand and used the spell 'Lumos' to listen things up a bit, the growling got more and more closer. All of a sudden, a Werewolf appeared out of no where. Xavier got in front of Briony and said, "Get behind me, NOW! I'll try to take care of this." As he was done talking to Briony, he faced the Werewolf and said, "Look, we don't want any trouble, so why don't you just get lost, understand?" The Werewolf continued to step towards both of them and looked like they were in trouble. Xavier then said, "Looks like we are in trouble. We'll have to fight for our lives now." Xavier instantly took out his wand and pointed towards the Werewolf.

"I know....know.." Briony said, her voice transforming into a whine. "No, you'll be killed." She gave a yelp as the wolf appeared in front of them... she did not yet know the difference between a werewolf and a regular wolf, but it couldn't be a full moon already could it? She looked up into the sky and saw nothing, the moon was blocked behind all the trees. She would rather it be normal wolf for she could not bear to live the rest of her life transforming every month and being treated as an inferior.

She stared at the wolf and backed away slowly. "Let's go...we can't beat him..."

"I'll be fine, my father always taught me tricks on how to handle myself if any situation like this came, so I'm not that worried, but you on the other hand, I can't let get harmed. So stay behind me." Xavier also looked up at the sky and saw nothing, but when he closely looked at the Werewolf, it wasn't a Werewolf, it was a regular wolf who was hungry for food. "Yea, let's get out of here.", said Xavier grabbing Briony's hand and starting to run. Xavier while running looked back and saw the wolf disappear. The two then slowed down and took a breather. "Well, that was interesting. The wolf disappeared." said Xavier looking at Briony. I think it's gone now.

While they were taking a breather, they heard the noises again and this time, there was more than just one. Xavier looked to his left and saw one Wolf, then he looked to his right and saw another Wolf. He then said, "Oh crap, first there was one, now there are two to deal with? You have got to be kidding me. I'm sick of this crap now, I'm gonna end it here." Xavier took off his robe, took out his wand and said, "COME AND GET ME!" out loud to the Wolf's and the Wolfs started to charge against him. "Briony, I want you to run."

Briony nodded, and suddenly began to run with Xavier, hand in hand. She felt somewhat comforted as he held her hand... it reminded her of when her older brother would take hold of her hand when out shopping for various supplies for the home and when they had gotten in the middle of a loud and rambuctious crowd. She was relieved as they went into an area where the wolf was, so she pulled hand away and held up her wand, her eyes widening as two more appeared.

"Xavier, they're cornering us... we have to get out of the forest. If we fight them, they'll gang up on us and kill us." She grabbed his arm and began to run for the castle, not wanting Xavier to be killed on a count of her stupidity.

Xavier started to run with Briony, but then stopped. He stopped and said, "Sorry, but I'm no cowards. When it comes to a challenge, I maybe a first year, but I can handle myself, I've went through some training with my father, I was home schooled for a bit." Hamza then got his wand up again and said, "COME ON, COME GET ME! One of the two wolf's charged towards Xavier. Having Briony beside him, immediatly pushed her to the ground so both can dodge the attack by the wolf. Both managed to stay alive with that attack. Xavier turns around and says, "Locomotor Mortis!" That did the trick for the first wolf, but it would not hold the wolf for long. Xavier turned to the second wolf and said to Briony, "I want you to use the Wingardium Leviosa spell to lift the other Wolf and smash it against one of the trees. I will do the same, and we will do this at the same time."

"They'll over power us!" Briony cried, pointing her wand at the wolves as they bounded towards them. She thought quickly and was thankful that Xavier suggested Wingardium Leviosa. "Wingardium Leviosa" She cried. The wolf hovered, but soon fell to the ground. She was not nearly as powerful as others would be, for her magical ability was not yet matured as of yet. As the wolf growled and bared it's teeth, Briony once again called, "Wingardium Leviosa" She swished and flicked and the wolf rose into the air. Briony smiled, and slammed the wolf into the tree. It crumpled onto the ground whimpering.
