Ever since almost destroying the library book about skipping stones and got help from a professor, Blaine Matthias decided that he was not about to get involved with another event like that, so he would not take the library books out of the library anymore. Blaine knew that it was a bad idea so he did not know why he had ever bothered to let his anger get out of control like that. Sometimes it was just sparked and he hated it. Blaine let out a sigh and he looked over some of the books in the library. His own collection was better than this but he could not find anything remotely interesting. Then again he had only been in here for two minutes so of course he did not find anything interesting. There was something that his amber eyes was looking for. He needed a book that would assist him in his studies, and he could not hope to find it. His eyes looked over the references before he found himself in another part of the library, and the book that he was looking for had a certain title on it. He needed it immediately, but the Ravenclaw was starting to get frustrated with not being able to find it. 'Remember, cool the head, and everything will turn out fine,' thought the Ravenclaw, reassuring himself. Sometimes if he thought things like that, it was deter him from the curse of ending up like his miserable brother. He sighed and he continued to look.

The book itself was over Astronomy, and it was a class that Slytherins had with Ravenclaw, and he needed to get ahead with it. There was an empty place where the book used to be, and it was no longer there which meant that someone in here had it. Blaine found the information and he went to the lady to see where it was. It was not checked out so someone in the library had it. Blaine started his search in the library with the students and the tables, looking for the book that he desired. However it took some time, and he managed to find it. Another first year had it. Blaine decided that he would have to be a bit forward with it, and it was something he was not used to at all. "So, I kind of need to study for Astronomy and you have the book I need." Blaine's tone was not rude nor pleasant. It just sounded somewhat bland. However would the student share?

Iason was settling in quite nicely to Hogwarts so far. Classes had yet to start but Iason wasn't going to let that stop him from getting a head start on the homework. He was already a few chapters into the majority of the books he had for his first semester and had a number of notes wrote out about the chapters, just to help him memorise it better as he strongly believed that your brain could only remember about 20% of something by reading it, no matter how many times, and to help this you write it out and or speak it out loud to yourself but no matter where he would go to study he either got strange looks or told to be quiet. On this particular day the Slytherin common room was particularly busy and subsequently noisy. Letting out a frustrated sigh, he gathered up his astronomy books and decided to head for the library, with any luck everyone else would be like the Slytherins and just seem to congregate in their commons rooms today.

Thankfully he wasn't far wrong and the library was nice and quiet today, there were people in it, yes, but thankfully they seemed to respect the rules of the library and be quiet. Iason found and nice isolated part of the library with just the one table and a few chairs around it so at least he wouldn't have other people around him and distracting him from his studying. Taking out his ink and parchment he went on the search for the Astronomy book that wasn't the core text but one of those optional books with other interesting facts that you maybe wouldn't learn in class but could get some extra marks in an exam with. Upon finding the book he took it back to his desk but before he could even get comfortable he was interrupted. Greeeaaattt! He thought sarcastically. "Well I just sat down with it. If you want to sit and read it with me then that's fine, but be warned I’m a quick reader." He said with a smug sense of arrogance about him. Although the boy did look familiar, from the sorting ceremony, so he must of been another first year – or a slow second or third year as he wanted a first year Astronomy book. If that was to be the case then he was clearly a Ravenclaw as Slytherin had Astronomy first term with the Ravenclaws, or a very eager Hufflepuff or Gryffindor. Maybe this Ravenclaw could be a match for Iason's reading skills.

Blaine did not recognize the Slytherin at all from the sorting ceremony as he was too busy thinking of other things. There was something that the boy had in common with the Slytherin that neither knew about. Both could be arrogant. Blaine might as well be described as an arrogant prick. Blaine liked that best about him. His skills could easily surpass the normal first year, so he thought anyway. That was the way he honestly felt. That was one of the reasons why he was in the library in that moment. Blaine had a lot of things on his mind, and being around idiots was not one of the things he could tolerate. The boy seemed to have that smugness about him that made Blaine curl one side of his lips up into a smirk. He said that he was a quick reader to which Blaine retorted with a cocky tone that didn't seem negative, "That's fine, I am a quick reader as well. Hopefully you can keep up with me." The boy was willing to share and that was what mattered the most. Blaine felt like he needed this since Astronomy seemed like a boring ass subject anyway. The professor did not seem that smart either, but that was not up to Blaine to decide.

Blaine sat his things down on a the chair beside him and he took a seat next to the Slytherin. He was unsure if he would want to talk, but as of right now, Blaine was more focused on at least getting through chapter one by the time the term started. Blaine was not that interested in getting house points and such for Ravenclaw since he did not care. He was a little surprised that his brother got Head Boy, a Slytherin Head Boy no less. Blaine wondered why a Slytherin would bother to get ahead, but Blaine was not about to complain since this was the only copy and he was sitting here, reading it with another male. 'I hope this doesn't look a little fruity,' thought Blaine with a roll of his amber eyes. Blaine would hate to have that reputation, but then again he did hang around with another male a lot, so one would never know. Blaine kept his eyes on the book, making sure that he was not going to be too slow about the reading. It was a little awkward here in the library. Like, should he even try talking to this Slytherin?

Iason eyed up the boy standing across from now, who for the time being he was going to just assume he was a fellow first year but a Ravenclaw as he wasn’t a Slytherin or he would of seen him about the common room by now. If he was a Ravenclaw then he may just be a match for Iason or an academic rival. He clearly wanted to be ahead of most of the other students by reading one of the books that wasn’t exactly a core book for the Astronomy course albeit on the reading list it was one of the more obscure hence only one copy being in the library . By the looks of it Iason could tell it was an old book but barely read by any of the students before him as the pages didn’t seem to have any doggy ears or anything. Astronomy was one of those courses that was all theory with no practical in it so Iason figured that the more well versed he was in the majority of the books on the reading list the better of a chance he may have with being ahead of his fellow classmates. Iason noticed the small smirk form on the boys lips making his eyes slant ever so slightly; he wondered what the smirk meant exactly. Iason let out a silent chortle as the boy seemed to question his reading skills. For an eleven year old Iason was a quick reader, it was all he would really do in his spare time as he didn’t socialise with the other boys his age like you would expect a typical eleven year old to do, but Iason never saw the appeal in being like everyone else, if that were the case you wouldn’t get anywhere in life, or at least nowhere worth going.

Iason shuffled his seat over a bit so the other boy could sit down beside him and moved some of his things on the table so that both could see book just fine. Iason decided not to write any notes now as he would be too rushed and wouldn’t have the time to make proper notes – he would come back again some other day, take the book out and return to his dorm room so this Ravenclaw couldn’t bother him again at least. The two of them read in silence for a short while, not conversing in anyway but they seemed to know when the other was done reading one page so one could turn the page. The book wasn’t very big and was actually quite boring – no wonder no-one had seemed to have read it. “I’m Iason by the way. Iason Samartzi, first year Slytherin.” he said, getting a little annoyed with the awkward silence and never being a particularly rude person Iason figured it would be only right to introduce himself, his parents had brought him up that way, although he didn’t know or really expect the other boy to introduce himself, the ball was in his court.

Blaine thought that he would be a quicker reader, but the Slytherin boy was as fast as he was, which was surprising. Blaine thought that everything was good to go. He really liked it for the most part. With it referring to Astronomy, even though he felt that the subject might not be as epic sounding as the book. The professor looked funny, and was married to a female nurse, from what he had heard, so he was avoiding that subject. Blaine wondered if there was something with the Slytherin that made him want to start studying a bit before classes. Was that not a Ravenclaw trait alone? Well, not all Slytherins are like the cliched ones. He had seen way too many of those, and was glad that the boy here was not one of those. The silence was bothering him though, since he could not read or study much while there was silence. It was the way the boy was. The library might have been peaceful but it was also annoying. He crossed his legs under the table and shifted his weight from one side to another. The chairs were incredibly uncomfortable. Blaine did not need to write anything down since he could memorize the interesting facts in the book. Everything else he could see in the class itself.

The boy introduced himself as Iason, and the last name made him look up. How in the hell could anyone pronounce that. "I'm Blaine Matthias, first year Ravenclaw." The boy at least seemed to be kind or something like that. It was hard to describe based on the small word exchange. Blaine figured that now would be a good time to stop reading, before he cracked his knuckles. Blaine did not want to read anymore. He sighed and he looked over at Iason before he said, "Dude, this is kind of boring. Want to just hang out? I have seen some girls around here, and some were hot, the others need to be hit by a hippogriff." Blaine could talk about girls, since he had seen several, and then he had talked to a few. The only house he did not really bother with was Gryffindor. That might have been a good thing. He did not appreciate them much unless it was like his older brother who was Nikandros, a fourth year Gryffindor. Blaine waited for Iason to want to talk or something. Anything is better than reading now.

It wasn't like Iason to find a book boring but this was definitely an exception but believing in second chances, even for books, he figured that he could come back sometime later and get the book out for himself, read it at his own pace and take notes; something that he was used too and enjoyed doing with new and old books. Although right now he just couldn't seem to get into the book and was only remembering bits of the new information that hadn't been explored or discussed in his core book for the first year Astronomy course which he had as good as memorised and wrote a number of notes around in preparation for exams and such. Iason was still unsure whether introducing himself was a good idea or not. Even though the boy across from his looked up at his introduction he could see a slight confusion in his eyes, not knowing that it was brought on by his weird sounding surname. Although why would that occur to Iason? To him Samartzi was as normal as any other name really, and back home it was a well respected name and popular enough that his wasn't the only family with the name.

Somewhat relieved that the boy, Blaine, returned the formality of introducing himself, Iason now felt slightly more at ease. Grimacing at Blaine as he cracked his knuckles, something that always turned Iasons stomach, the sound was just so horrible to him, it was like someone was actually cracking their bones; then again that was only his train of thought because his mother and father always warned him not to do it because it wasn't a polite thing to do, especially when in company of others. Although what Blaine came out with next took Iason by surprise. He had the misfortune of been brought up to ask way beyond his years and because of this never connected with anyone his age - specifically boys his age. So being referred to as dude and girls refereed to as hot or needing to be hit by a hippogriff was all really rather strange to him and somewhat degrading to the girls. At this point though Iason held his tongue with his remarks. If Efeyenia had thought him one thing it was to not act so proper at school, let loose and try to make friends his age and he would get no respect from his peers if he went around talking like he was better than them. "I can't promise I'll be any good but I'm up for a challenge." he grinned, seizing the opportunity to heed his sisters advice.

Blaine looked into the Astronomy book even more, even though he was getting really bored of this. He wanted to go out to have some fun, and he figured that Iason would need to experience the same thing that he was getting while at the school. Some people were fun and some were not. He was hoping that one day, he would have some guy friends too that were not Vladimir. Vladimir could be funny, but he knew that Vladimir could be really tight. Vladimir needed to loosen up a bit. Maybe this other guy right here could help him out some and just have some fun. It could be possible. He looked to Iason as he waited for what he was going to say about them going to hang out. It would be great if he would agree. He might not have had a familiar surname to the Ravenclaw, but he still seemed really nice. Well, nice enough to make him wonder if the guy was really someone that he could be hanging out with. Blaine looked at the book once more, wondering if studying should be considered right now. Astronomy was not the Ravenclaw’s best subject anyhow. In fact, he almost hated it.

“Well, the first thing you do, is get rid of the book.” Blaine reached over, took the book and tossed it on the shelf behind him. He thought that it would put itself up, but apparently not. He frowned a bit before he almost cracked up in laughter. Wait, what if the boy wanted to read the book some more? He shrugged his shoulders before he said, “So, what about Quidditch or the lounge? We can go there and just talk. Trust me, I can show you how to have a lot of fun around here, either at the expense of others or not. It really depends.” Blaine could not wait to get out of the library. He got up and he held out his hand toward Iason before he realized that he was a guy. He quickly withdrew the hand and he smirked slightly. He doubted that Iason would ever be one of those that would make fun of anyone, but it would still be more fun. After all, Blaine could see a potential friend in him.
