Personality: Maya comes from a mixed race family living in Alice Springs. As a child she grew up on stories of the dream time and other stories of princes and princesses being rescued. Disney fairy-tales are her ultimate favourite. The first thing people would notice about Maya is that she is a sweetheart. She is adorable and she likes everyone. It is very hard for her to not find at least one good quality in anyone. It doesn't matter what it is, if someone could find it, it would be Maya. She is very observant in that respect. Because her mother died when she was ten, Maya has had to grow up fast. Faster than should be allowed for any child. She cooks, cleans and helps take care of her three younger brothers, much to the annoyance of her father. He's not annoyed at her, but wishes she would let him be the parent and her be the child. Being a muggle-born, Maya was and is very curious about magic. She is very curious about how magic could help her in her care for her family. Her younger brothers would be easier to deal with if she could threaten to turn them into toads.

A whole new world
Every turn a surprise
With new horizons to pursue​

History Before Hogwarts: Maya was born at seven thirty in the morning on the twenty first of April in the year two thousand and twenty four to Carol and James Corby. As a toddler, Maya was doted on by everyone as she was the youngest at that time. Carol's parents, though not happy with her choice of marriage, adored Maya. As did James' parents. Maya was spoiled as a baby and was never at a want for anything, including hugs and toys. At the age of three, Maya's first sibling was born, a brother, Corey. Maya was suddenly no longer the baby and instead became the big sister. She was fine with this however and enjoyed every bit of responsibility she was given over her brother. It was not very much responsibility but she enjoyed it and that was fine by her. Maya and Corey grew close very quickly and she spent a lot of time with her brother, teaching him games and trying to teach him to talk. As a result, Maya's name was the first word uttered by her brother, shortly followed by sissy, mama and dad-dad. Maya was rather pleased with this result.
