It seemed that going to the North Tower was a good idea for a young Hufflepuff named Ai. Going up would be an exercise for her and a way for her to think straight. Classes had already started but Ai's mind was making her crazy. Different thoughts had continued to cross her mind and she couldn't help but to be near the edge of sanity. A lot had been going on with her life and not everything about it was pleasurable. "Are the gods playing a trick on me or something?!" she shouted as she continued to trudge on the steps nearing the top of the tower. She was sure that reaching the top would be worth the energy she is using.

While using her energy on the steps at the moment, she thought about the different happenings in her life. But most of all, she thought of the dreadful ones. Recently, Ai had become a puppet to a Slytherin named Liam. During that unfortunate event, she had gotten lost in the forest and was well sure that she was almost a goner, good thing she made it out though. Then there was also the incident last year that had gotten her sent to the Hospital Wing. Conan had kicked her leg, and it ended up with a broken bone and the nurse needed to keep her in the hospital wing for it. She was certainly mad at her twin for it, but then again it was partly her fault as well. She continued to walk, only half realizing that she had already reached the top and was walking straight to the window, until she tripped. The Hufflepuff fell on the ground hard as she felt a leg from underneath her pull itself away from her. "Sorry," she said. Yes, she had learned to apologize from her unfortunate encounter with Liam, and she hoped it would do her good. She stood up from her position and dusted herself off.

Conan had been staying for almost an hour already. He had been used to the scenery of the North Tower and felt more comfortable there. Only a few would go to the North Tower as it was a bit of tiring to go there. One has to deal with more than a hundred steps just to get to their destination, but Conan didn't mind that at all. He liked the place, and it seemed to be one of his favorite places during his stay at the castle. It was peaceful there, it was warm, prefects didn't really check the North Tower after curfew as well, so he really didn't have to deal with those nosy guys. He was happy and comfortable there. The Hufflepuff was certainly contented with where he was at the moment.

His relaxation was cut short though when he heard an all too familiar voice of a female. He would have been glad if it had been Taylor or Amelia, especially Amelia. But fate certainly didn't grant him that wish. It was his twin sister, Ai. After he heard her, he began to argue with himself as to whether he should go down or stay instead. Thinking that he was first to get there and they would probably end up fighting on the stairwell too, he decided to just plainly ignore her. He stretched his legs and tried to close his eyes. He was almost drifting off to sleep until he felt someone trip on his legs. And when he opened his eyes, it was Ai. That certainly annoyed him. "God! She wasn't THIS clumsy!" he thought to himself as he pulled his leg and stood up. He dusted a few parts of his clothing and he heard her apologize. That got him annoyed. She never apologized to anyone she didn't know. "So, when did you learn to apologize, brat?" he said with a smug look on his face, looking at his twin before him attempting to stand up. "Finally learned your manners?" he said in a mocking tone as he watched her continue her actions.

At that moment did Ai realize that she wasn't ready to face Conan, especially if she was alone. She was scared. Scared that her twin brother would once again bring her the same pain that he did a few months back. She didn't want another of that. In fact, she didn't want to take another hit from her brother. And now, she definitely wished that someone was with her. Heath, Ryuuji, or Kate. It didn't matter to her at the moment because she just wanted to feel safe.

The young Hufflepuff had turned to face her older twin and she definitely didn't like the way he called her. In fact, she was almost about to break down into tears once again, but she had changed. Ai wanted to be stronger, braver, and this was definitely one challenge she had to face. "Does that have to be part of your business?" she asked him back, not really sure what effect it would bring her, but then again she had promised Liam that she was not to tell anybody about him, and she was more willing to keep the promise than break it. "Maybe I had learned them," she answered back but another statement quickly followed, "When you lost your own manners," she retorted. She knew it would bring her trouble, and that she wouldn't be able to win this little challenge. But she had to try.
