Andros stumbled into St. Mungo's, his hair sticking to his forehead, his eyes wide, and his body, tense. He had sprinted through the doors of St. Mungo's and to the reception desk. "Andros Carter," he had panted, pushing his damp hair from his face, "I'm here to see Kira Carter." The panic in his tone was obvious to all present, and the woman on reception directed him to a nearby healer, one who had been there when Kira was brought in. Andros went eagerly with her. Nobody had told him how bad a condition she was in. Was she conscious? Was she still alive? Adrenaline surged through his shaking body. Healers zipped past, this way and that. His ears picked out the most hostile sounds, the ones that suggested his wife was not alright. Aurors were supposed to be able to just shrug these things off. Andros had met an older female co-worker who had lost her husband, and still managed to hold her head high.
He was led to a ward. Many of the beds had curtains pulled round as the healers treated their patients. Andros was asked to stand outside of one curtain while the healers confirmed that Kira was safe to be seen, and that Andros was who he said he was. Seconds later, another healer emerged, nodded to Andros, and allowed him inside the curtained area to see his wife. Andros dived to her side, taking hold of her hand and softly kissing her cheek. "Thank Merlin," he breathed, relieved that his wife was still alive. He turned to one of the healers, "is she going to be alright?" The healer said nothing, he quickly turned back to Kira. "Are you going to be alright?"
