The dungeons was something Ai Edogawa normally wanted to avoid. But right now, she was in the middle of it, in the middle of the darkness and cold walls of the dungeons. Just a week ago, the young girl hated going through the dungeons when on her way to Potions Class. But now, the darkness didn't get to her anymore. Lately, she had been seeing everything as black again, like the time from when she was featured in Rumor Has It. But that was different, she had someone with her. But, now, she had no one. No family. No friends. No companions. It was a lonely world for Ai Edogawa.

She sat down and rested her back against the wall of the dungeons. She looked at her bandaged hands and seemed worst the they ever were. It was hurting, but she didn't care. Her head became blank and she began to see things again. "No, please. Not again," she said as she saw different memories. Bad memories. Memories she never wanted to remember. Tears began to fall the girl's eyes. "Stop. Please, stop," she said as she continued remembering. Remembering every single thing. She sat there staring blankly, with tears in her eyes constantly seeing things she never wanted to experience again.

Heath James headed down to the dungeons. The Hufflepuff did not fancy heading down to the dungeons unless it was from Potions. He found potions to be one of his least favorite classes because the professor was creepy. What was up with his hairstyle? Heath twirled a strand of orange hair with his index finger. He had let his hair grow out, and it was down to his shoulders now. He was confident in his hairstyle because it gave his fingers something to do, and it actually suited his personality. Some evil people were able to pull of a long and shabby hairstyle. Heath was not evil, but evil was in his future as long as he was in Epiphany's hands. The dungeons were dark, but he was able to see. He got strange looks from other students in the hall. He was in Slytherin territory, so he totally understood the looks. That did not mean that he was not uncomfortable.

Heath had started to get better at handling the looks he got from people. It had taken a lot of work, but he was able to help himself not be so pathetic. He still did not like being judged by others. Who were they to judge him anyways? He heard crying, and he stopped at a familiar girl crying against the wall. the girl had bandages hands, so he knew it was Ai. She was always punching walls like a mad woman. He kind of felt bad that she was crying. Who had made her cry? Heath wanted to be the only making Ai cry. It was strange, but Heath did not lie to himself. "Why are you crying Short Stuff?" he asked. He shifted his weight to his right side, and he stuffed his hands in his pockets. He waited to hear a good answer from the Hufflepuff.

Ai was crying, crying silently. Hoping not make any sound, hoping for not anyone to see her. But, it was hard to do. She was seeing a lot of things. Her parents' death, the burial and everything else she never wanted to happen to her. Or to even remember. They were painful memories for her, but others wouldn't probably care. Darkness seemed to devour the young girl's being. Would she be out of control? No, that was something she wanted to avoid. The last time she was out of control was when she was with her older friend, and it was a good thing she came to. But, today there was no one to comfort her or to just keep her company.

The young girl was now trembling at the things she was remembering. There were quite a lot of them. Tears continued flowing from her eyes until she heard a seemingly familiar voice, "Who's there?" she called out. Until she noticed that it was one who called her 'short stuff' and there was only one person. Heath James. He was asking her why she was crying. Ai's trembling hands began to wipe off the tears even if they kept coming. "An idiotic reason," she said in a shaking voice. She wasn't seeing anything clear yet except for the memories, but she wished the flashbacks would stop.

Heath rolled his eyes. Who else made Ai's height clear everytime they met? Heath was positive that he was only on that did that. He decided to try and not get snappy with the already sad girl. "It's Heath. Are you blind now?" He said with attitude. He soon regretted it. Ai was crying. Of course it would be hard for her to see who was talking to her. The dungeons were already dark, and Ai was crying. She said it was a stupid reason. Heath did not mind listening to Ai's sob story at the time. "Talk to me. I'm willing to listen to something stupid." he said quietly, and he leaned against the wall next to Ai. He was not one for physical closeness, so he was not right next to Ai. He hoped that she did not start crying on him either. Then he would surely push her away with a great force.

Seeing things was scary. But seeing the past with things you wished didn't happen were even more scarier, it was like you were reliving the moments you wished never existed. And that was what Ai was experiencing at the moment. And it was quite a miracle that she could still hear Heath. "Maybe. I'm not seeing the dungeons or you, I only see horrible things right now," she said with a calm tone, but her voice showed great fear. She was definitely scared, more scared than she had ever felt in her entire life.

"I never knew you would be interested in something stupid," she forced a smile as tears continued strolling down on her face. Ai was quite surprised when Heath had sat near her, it seemed that he was really willing to listen. "It's because you were right. My aunts were right. Taylor was right," she whispered. Ai had remembered Heath telling her once that she would be a hindrance to her brother, and that was what Ai was thinking about at the moment. "Liar, a spoiled brat is what you are. How did Yusaku and Yukiko raise you? Now that they're dead, you'd only be a hindrance to poor little Conan. Stay away from him. Those were the words they told me more than six years ago. I guess they were right," she said as more tears came from her eyes and she continued to wipe them off. The words that were told to her remained in the young girl's mind and it seemed almost impossible to forget about it.

Heath sighed. "Are you delusional now Ai? I think the dungeons are getting to you." Heath suggested. He was not much of a comforter, so he felt awkward. He wanted to help Ai. He just did not know how. A typical thing to do would be hugging the tears out, but Heath did not like others touching him or touching others. Strange things were known to happen in the dungeons, and Ai must have been overreacting or something.

Heath did not know what to say. He was not a counselor. He hated counselors to be honest, and Heath did not want to seem like a counselor. "Conan is your brother Ai. He is your twin. It is natural you will want to protect him and stuff like that. Your aunts and Taylor are wrong because all you are doing is looking out for your only brother." he said crossing his arms over his chest. What aunt would tell their niece that? Heath had undergo something like Ai. His parents called him an abomination and disowned him. "I get how you can think that though. My parents called me a abomination when they found out I was a wizard. They disowned me to. I don't think I've told you that." he told Ai. He now saw how much they had in common.

Heath had met Conan, but their meeting had not ended well. He panicked when Conan said something to him, and he had been so calm too. Heath thought Ai's brother was strange and forceful. He did not like him. "Did you and Conan fight? Is that why you look like absolute crap right now?" he asked looking at Ai with some concern. The girl did look like crap, but acting delusional and strange was not worth a small fight with Conan.

"Who knows. I've never been to dungeons on my own accord except for going to classes. And I've been seeing these things for a few days already. So, I'll be alright," she said, her hands trembling. It was plain obvious that she was scared and not alright at all. But, even for a bit, she wanted to look strong when facing a matter that seemed to be stupid and idiotic to a lot of people. And she was glad that the flashback had began to fade and started to see most of dungeons and Heath as well. But, she was still afraid that the flashback may return.

Ai smiled a bit when Heath told her that her aunts and Taylor were wrong, but it still wasn't enough to cheer her up, since she knew it was mostly her fault. "Yeah, I thought about that too. He is my twin and I want to protect him no matter what. But, when I looked back, it seemed that they were right. And I can accept that," Ai told Heath while bowing her head attempting to hide her face where tears continued to stroll down. "You told me," she said when Heath told her that he was disowned by his parents. Heath had told Ai about it when they first met. "I'm financed by my part of the inheritance. And Conan is financed by his part of the inheritance plus our aunts too. So maybe in that way I'm disowned by them too. They also called me a disgrace since I never come out first. Always second to Conan," it was true, and Ai could only endure them even until now, where they were continuing to pressure her.

Ai was quite surprised at Heath's question. She thought she could hide it a bit more longer, but it may have seemed too obvious. "You're good," she told him. "Well, it's alright. I can handle it. But still, it would have been better if this wasn't the first," Ai said with a soft voice. She hoped that she could really handle it, because in reality, she wasn't sure herself.

Heath shrugged. He still thought the dungeons were influencing Ai's emotions. It was that or Ai was just being a girl. Heath was used to her punching walls like a doofus and getting into fights. He still had not forgave her for making Satsuke beat him up. "I hate having to come down here. Why can't Potions be outside or something?" he grumbled while kicking the ground. He should be like Satsuke and only go to the cool lessons. Satsuke annoyed him with burping the alphabet during their third lesson. He still loved his Hufflepuff friend though.

Heath smacked his lips. He had already told her? He just wasted his breath. "I was just making sure Ai. You're not completely alone." he said and stepped on a spider crawling on the ground. He twisted his foot onto the spider. Just to make sure it was dead before he turned back to Ai. Heath nodded. He had accept that his parents hated him. He had to accept that he was a failure son. He was the son that no parent would ever want. "Sometimes we just have to accept our flaws. They may keep us trapped down for awhile, but they make us stronger too." he said. He started to play with his hair. He started to gently tug on a strand of orange hair.

Heath raised an eyebrow at Ai. It was a yes or no question. How could she answer with,"You're good."? He must have been right. He hoped Conan did not go crying to Satsuke on the fight. Heath officially did not like Conan. "A fight with your brother should not make you like this. Hurry up and go back to punching walls and stuff. Crying here and being a wimp will not solve anything. Hurry and settle things with your brother so I don't have to become counselor." he said and he looked away from Ai. He never knew how much he missed Ai getting scolded on punching walls until she bled. If his digital camera worked then he would have taken pictures of all the dents she made in the walls.

Ai watched as Heath complained about the dungeons and Potions class. "I hoped it was outside too. How did you wind up here anyway?" she asked the boy. It was quite an interesting thought. If Heath didn't like coming down the dungeons, why is he down there. Also, Ai couldn't help but notice that Heath was a little frustrated. She didn't mind it for a while since she knew she had nothing to do with it, hopefully.

Ai smiled a bit when Heath had smacked his lips. He seriously forgot that he had told her already, but what made her surprised was that Heath told her that she was completely alone. "I'm not?" she asked reassuringly. She wanted to make sure, because, at the moment, those were the words she wanted to hear. That she was not alone. "I can accept them all. But, is it wrong for me to wish to not give them to me all at once? It was already a hard situation, but another one instantly came up," she told Heath when he told her that they have to accept flaws. Ai accepted them, but she just found it hard, because it was thrown at her almost all at once. It was hard for her to endure it all.

"I know it shouldn't," she whispered. A fight within siblings was a normal thing, and the young girl knew that, but she couldn't help but feel hurt about it. "I wish I could punch some more, but I couldn't anymore. There is too much damage already, I've been punching things for at least more than a week now," she explained to Heath when he told her to go back to punching walls and stuff. Ai's hands looked liked they were destroyed already, it was swollen badly and even was still bleeding a bit. So, she couldn't punch any walls anymore, even though she wanted to. "Well, I guess I am a crybaby and a wimp. But nothing can solve it now. He's already made his decision, we'll be rivals now. And there's nothing I can do about it anymore." she told Heath as she covered her face with her hands and cried even more. It was her fault, she could accept that, but she would still receive a great shock from it. Because she and her brother had never fought before.

Heath had been caught. He actually had no reason for being in the dungeons. Even though he hated the dungeons, he wanted to explore and understand why the Slytherins were so territorial over them. Whenever a non Slytherin came to the dungeons there was crazy tension. If only other houses were like that. Heath decided to change the subject. "You know, tonight I was thinking about going to the kitchens and making a red velvet cake. Would you like to join me?" he asked coolly. Heath was stupid. He had no idea how to make a red velvet cake. He was not even allowed in the kitchen at his sister's place. Originally, he did not eve have plans to go the kitchens! And why would he invite Ai? Satsuke would be furious if he found out. He hoped Ai gave him a smooth rejection. Then Heath would not have to worry about Satsuke possibly kicking his ass.

Heath shrugged once more. "Well, literally you aren't alone because I see a lot of students in these dungeons right now. Figuratively, I guess, you are alone. To be completely honest." he said with not much thought. He had gone from a caring friend to a jerk in less than 10 seconds. It showed how crazily his moods changed. He did not know how Ai would take his words. He hoped that he did not get a punch in the stomach. That would not be fun. "Why are you asking me what's wrong or right? We are the same age. I'm not any smarter than you are."

Heath sighed. She had started to cry again. This was seriously going to ruin his image. How could she be such a crybaby? It was annoying. No wonder Conan broke away from her grasp. She had no backbone to hold herself up. "You seriously need to stop that Ai. Do you think you are going to automatically get sympathy if you turn on the water works? Well, you aren't. It is just annoying, and no one will want to be around you if your always being such a baby!" he told his peer harshly. Then he realized that it was definitely just the dungeons effecting her emotions. Girls weren't thins emotional, right? Heath sucked in a breath and then decided to apologize. He was not helping Ai's situation at all. "I'm sorry Ai. I'm not helping much, am I?" he looked at the ground bashfully.

Ai was surprised when Heath suddenly changed the subject. But it was fine with her, "Red velvet cake?" she asked. The young girl never knew that Heath bakes, in fact, it never even crossed her mind. She thought about it for a while and made her decision. "Sure, I'd join you. If that's alright of course. You can always say no," she just had to give Heath an option. After all, he might just be inviting her because of what was happening.

"That's one heck of a crazy thought," she smiled a bit. Ai wasn't really happy at what Heath said, but it was completely true. He was stating a fact but in a sort of crazy way. "Cause it would be sort of weird if I asked the walls instead of you?" she told him with a bit of a weird tone. It was certainly just a joke and the young girl hoped that Heath would not take it seriously.

Ai listened to what Heath said, and she couldn't help but feel a bit furious about it. "Sympathy?!" she accidentally shouted, "Do you seriously think I'm looking for sympathy?!" she was mad about it, although she didn't want to. But, her emotions were getting all mixed up and her words just came out from her mouth which she could not stop. "Well, you're wrong. Do you think I would be sitting here alone before you came if I was looking for sympathy? I know I'm being a baby and I'm sorry. This is the first time I cried all I wanted when someone was around, Heath. I never cried in front of my childhood friends, I only cried twice in front of Conan and there were only a few tears shed. I cried in front of my senpai and I didn't even cry all I want. I never cried in front of my relatives, I never even cried back home!" she told him. It was hard to keep the tears in. She had only started to cry when they were in Hogwarts. And she wondered on why is that the case. "But, here I cried for a week in my room. I even cried right now," she softly told Heath. She had calmed down a bit and she lost her temper again. How could she lose her temper at a time like this? It was seriously not cool. "No. It's fine, at least I'm not alone for the moment. I'm sorry I lost it again," she apologized as well when Heath apologized. Heath didn't have to be sorry, it was Ai who was supposed to be apologizing. At least that's what's in her point of view.

Heath sighed in relief. "Actually no. I don't even know how to bake. I was just avoiding your question." he came out. Heath hoped that Ai would not ask the question agian. Then he would have to think of another diversion. He was not going to let Ai know that he had no reason to be in the dungeons. That would ruin his pride in a way. It would take away his dignity, not really.

Heath laughed. He felt that what he had said did not please Ai. "You can talk to walls. It willl be you that looks crazy, not me." he smirked. He found it quite funny. Haeth could imagine Ai talking to herself. He would remind her of it everyday. If that ever really happened, he would never let her forget it.

Heath listened to Ai chew him out. He would have said something back, but he did not want Ai to become an enemy. It was not like the two's relationship was able tobe categorized anyways. "Why are you apologizing? I'm the one being a jerk, Ai." he said in an irritated tone. Ai was always apologizing for things that weren't her fault. It was annoying, and it was a way she put herself down. Heath did not like it. In fact, it annoyed him.

Actually, Ai was kind of disappointed that baking in the kitchens was just a cover-up. "Oh. I see," she told Heath. But maybe it was also a good thing. The last time she went there, she was part of a ruckus and threw pies all around the kitchen. She decided to push the thought in the back of her mind for the moment. "So, want to have another topic instead? You get to choose," she offered. It might be good to have a change of topic, it might benefit the both of them too, who knows.

Ai smiled at what Heath suggested. She seriously didn't think that Heath would give that kind of remark, but nevertheless, it seemed to lightened her mood for a bit. "Yeah, that's why I asked you. Cause I will look even more crazier if I spoke to the walls," she told Heath. Ai kept silent for quite a bit and suddenly spoke, "On second thought," she continued, "Oi, Wall. Why do I have so many problems all at once?" she asked the wall with a straight face. She knew it wouldn't answer her question but she was desperate.

Ai was quite surprised that the boy kept silent the whole time she was ranting. She expected him to at least answer back to all her shouting like before, but it was a different situation. "Yeah, you were a bit of a jerk there," Ai just had to be honest at the time. Heath was admitting it and Ai knew it was true, so she just had to point it out. "But, I lost my temper too," Ai was ashamed because Heath was there with her and not leaving, and yet she lost her temper on it. It was not a good thing at all.

Heath saw Ai looked a little sad when he took back his offer. He looked down at Ai and chuckled. Pathetic. "Aww. Did I hurt your feelings?" he asked in hopes that she felt like she was being mocked. It was not like the two were friends or anything. They weren't even enemies. Frenemies, maybe? No. Heath did not want to make it seem like they had any sort of connection with each other. In a way he was keeping himself distant from her. He did not need yet another girl telling him what to do. "What's your favorite drink?" he asked looking back at the ground. He started to swing his foot back and forth. He felt awkward. Maybe he could just walk away.

Heath started to laugh. Ai did look crazy talking to a wall. It was just too funny. His face had started to get red from how hard and loud he was laughing. He was bent over and grabbing his stomach. Heath thought it was that funny. He leaned back against the wall while trying to catch his breath. Soon he had stopped laughing. "Don't do that anymore. Your going to ruin my image." he said half joking and half serious. This was Slytherin territory, so he did not need to look like a typical happy Hufflepuff.

Heath bowed his head to Ai. "I appreciate you noticing my good qualities." he smiled and lifted his head back up. He knew being a jerk was not even a quality. It was just something that he was. He was never a jerk to his siter though. That would be cruel of him, and Heath was nice, most of the time. "I lost mine too, but that's normal when I'm with you." he retorted. Heath always got annoyed with Ai, and she always got annoyed with him. It was a strange relationship they shared.

Ai smiled a bit and sighed when Heath mocked her. "The cake was a good offer," she said in disappointment. Baking a cake was a good idea but the young girl felt a bit disappointed that it wan't really going to happen. Ai was taken by surprise by Heath's sudden question. Ai thought about it real hard until she thought of an answer, "Never really thought about it. But, I guess, orange juice. You?" she said throwing Heath's question back at him.

Heath had laughed too much. And it was quite embarrassing on Ai's part. She didn't expect Heath to be laughing so much when she talked to the wall. Well, it was a crazy idea, though. "Was I that funny?" she asked curiously quite blushing. It was indeed embarrassing to be laughed at and the young Hufflepuff knew that. "Your image? I'm the one who's looking crazy talking to a wall here," she told Heath when he told her that she was going to ruin his image.

Ai placed a small grin on her face when Heath told her that he appreciates her noticing his good qualities. "Good qualities?" she asked curiously. Really, what's good about being a jerk? It was something Ai didn't entirely get. "With me? Is it only me?" she asked curiously. She loses her temper with almost anyone, so it's not entirely new that she lost her temper on Heath as well. "Well, either way, it's good," she said with a little smile. It was a strange remark from a strange relationship she had formed with the boy named Heath James.

Heath agreed. Cake was a good offer, but he did not know how to cook, and he would like it if he did not get expelled for burning down the kitchen Satsuke would be very angry with him and probably fly off to Japan. That would make Heath sad, as he and Satsuke were best friends. "I like strawbery milk. I like anything strawberry in general." he said when Ai asked the question back. Strawberries were his favorite. He loved anything that had to do with them. He loved when his sister mad strawberry pastries and sweets for him. Heath did not eat very many sweets though. He was scared of growing fat. In Heath's head, it was a perfectly logical fear. "It is your turn. Don't pick anything I'll ignore." he said and glanced at Ai breifly before looking back at the ground. He found it to be a little more interesting than Ai.

Heath nodded his head. Ai was very funny. He had seen many sides of her, but not her funny side. He now knew that Ai was pretty hilarious. When he saw that she was blushing he did not understand. "Why are you blushing?" he asked in a confused voice. Heath rolled his eyes. Sure it was Ai that was talking to walls, but he was the one that was hanging out with her. "But I am the one keeping you company. You don't want to lonely right now, do you?" he said matter-of-factly. Heath knew Ai did not want to be alone. Even if she had not said it. She and her brother were rivals now, and she used be on his heels like a baby. He was positive that she did not want to be alone.

"Come on now Ai! You have to admit that being a jerk has it good points!" he tried to persuade Ai that being a jerk was okay. He kept unworthy people away from him. He was not going to let himself get walked over by others. He was not going to be controlled by anyone, with an exception od Epiphany. "It is pretty much only with you Ai. If I lose it with Satsuke I would probably go missing." he said with a light laugh. Satsuke was bossy sometimes, and he did not like Heath getting pissy with him.

Ai listened as Heath told her what his favorite drink was. Strawberries were indeed delicious, but she didn't really expect Heath to like them. "Well, strawberries are good," she said. She only likes strawberry in ice cream, shake or cake. The others, she wasn't really sure. "Uh," she whispered while thinking of a topic. When scanning her mind, she came to a verdict. "It's hard to pick something you won't ignore!" she told Heath. She couldn't really pick what Heath wouldn't really ignore, after all she barely knows about the boy, except for what he has told her from when they met.

Ai was quite taken by surprise when Heath noticed her blush. She didn't expect him to be paying attention to her. "Cause I look too crazy a while ago that it's already embarrassing," she admitted. She was quite embarrassed at how she acted. After all, she literally talked to the wall. "You've got a point," the young Hufflepuff said when Heath told her that he was keeping her company. Of course, there would be things said about him if she acted crazy. "No. Please don't leave me alone," she told Heath when he asked if she doesn't want to be lonely, and of course, the young girl doesn't want to be left alone, for now.

"I guess?" she said hesitantly before she laughed a bit at how Heath was trying to persuade her. It was quite a funny thought. "Teach me how to be one," she told him jokingly. It would be up to Heath if he will take her seriously or not. "Souka (I see). Is Nakamura-san scary?" she asked a bit when Heath told him that if he lost his temper on Satsuke he might go missing. Ai barely knew Satsuke, and it was the reason on why she was curious about it.

Heath smiled. What Ai said was true. He was hard to talk to. There were many things he was not willing to tell people. He never went into detail about how painful and heartbreaking it was to be abandoned by ones parents. He always acted like everything sis not mean much to him. He was light-hearted, but then again he was serious about somethings. Like keeping his hands to himself. He did not like touching people or vice versa. It creeped him out and sometime put him in a bad mood. "If that is the case, I will choose again. What is your favorite color and why?" he asked and waited for Ai to respond. He had to start thinking why his favorite color was his favorite color.

Heath rolled his eyes. "Don't talk to walls and you won't have to worry about embarrassing yourself or looking crazy." he said simply. Some people just did not think like him. In his head everything was so simple. Everybody else seemed to be so complicated. He did not understand it. There were simple answers, but people would think the problem was super complicated when it was really super easy. Heath nodded. He knew he was right and Ai did not want to be alone. "I'm not leaving you yet, Ai. Don't sound so desperate." he said lightly.

Heath chuckled lightly. Teach her how to be a jerk? Easy. She was already on the right path to 'jerkhood'. "You are already on the right path. You just need to be a little more harsh." he indicated 'a little bit' with his finger. Heath nodded his head fiercely. Satsuke was scary at times. "He is not scary all the time, but he is scary. He throws big temper tantrums and messes up our room all the time! That happens only when I tease him though." he smiled to himself. Heath loved seeing Satsuke get mad. He loved to get people upset. He guessed it was kind of a fetish.

Ai had caught sight of Heath when he smiled. At that time, the young girl kind of hoped that Heath would smile more, instead of frown more. Well, it can't be helped, she can't really control Heath, now can't she? She listened as Heath asked her another question. She didn't exactly have a favorite color, but if she would have to choose it may be red or blue. "Red, I guess. Cause I'm not calm all the time, and I guess cause red represents protection from fears, which I really need." she answered. Red seemed to fit her personality more, but she liked blue just the same. "How about you?" she turned to Heath and asked. "I'm so lame. Can't think of a topic by myself," she thought to herself while waiting for Heath to answer the question thrown back at him.

"Yeah, I know. I just wanted to try it out," she replied to the seemingly slightly irritated Heath. It was too simple indeed, but she had to many things to worry about that talking to the walls as a crazy thing didn't even cross her mind too much. "Who knows, it may respond," she smiled lightly. It was a lame joke, but she didn't care. "Thanks. And, I am desperate," the Hufflepuff responded. She was actually glad that Heath wasn't leaving her yet, but she knew that soon, Heath would have to leave.

"More harsh, huh? Wonder if I could do that," she whispered when Heath told her that she was already in the right path. Seriously, she didn't know she was already being a jerk. Oh well, at least Ai knew about it now. "I see. He throws tantrums too," Ai figured out something new about Satsuke, and it was quite interesting. She indeed never knew that Satsuke was a person who would throw tantrums. "Wonder what would happen if we fought. Not like I want that to happen," she whispered softly. It was just a thought and she had no real intention of doing so.
