Mordred zoomed into the air on his brand new Scarlet Streak. The boy was happy that he had bought it. He had talked to Aonghas earlier telling the Hufflepuff to meet him at the Quidditch Pitch, since they had both tried out for their respective Quidditch teams. He honestly just wanted to spend time with his friend, catch up and practice. Mordred had not made very many friends since coming to Hogwarts New Zealand the previous year, but there was still time the boy felt like. Mordred started to do laps with a quaffle under his arm as he waited for Aonghas to come and join him in some good ole Quidditch fun.

Aonghas had been pretty pleased to receive the note from Mordred to come practice on the pitch. The hufflepuff was really looking to improve his own playing and couldn’t think of a better way to do it than with Mordred, they were in different houses and trying out for different teams, but he was sure they played complimentary positions. However, Aonghas was running a little late and he felt somewhat bad about it. But eventually with the second hand broom from his father in hand, he needed to wait until he got on to a team proper before he got a new broom. It was something he was hopeful would happen, but Aonghas also knew he had to pay his dues to the team too. He arrived at the pitch and noticed Mordred already in the air, so Aonghas wasted no time in hopping on to the broom and shooting up into the air and joining Mordred where he was, ”Hey, sorry ah’m a bit late, ye want tae just get started?” Aonghas asked with a friendly expression.

Mordred felt the weight of the quaffle weighing him down as he flew, which was interesting because the quaffle was one of the lightest balls in the the game. It was most likely the stress of having to hold the ball weighing down on him because he was flying comparatively slow to what he normally did. Mordred quickly braked as Aonghas flew towards him. This broom wasn't that good at braking he had noticed. "Sure! I'm glad you came! Here's the quaffle." he tossed the quaffle to Aonghas, hoping that his throw was okay. He would not be throwing very much, if he made it into the game though. "I hope you have a great break!" he shouted as he flew to the hoops, resting in front of the center one. However, it was time to get down to business and practice.

Aonghas smiled at his friend and took the quaffle as it was passed to him. He leaned back on his broom, holding the quaffle in his hands lightly and looking to where his friend had flown to. He tossed the ball up in the air and caught it. He heard the words be shouted at him ”Aye, you too,” there wasn’t much more he could say about it really. It was difficult to hear when flying about so it wasn’t like he’d be able to make out what the other boy was saying or vice versa. Instead he just held the ball tightly and then flew off towards the the hoops. He’d been practicing a lot in recent weeks, determined to get on the team and to improve himself as a player. He got close enough to the hoops and aimed it in. It went a little bit wide and even he could tell pretty quickly that he wouldn’t at all get it in the hoops. ”Whoops, ah clearly need this practice we’re havin’” the hufflepuff gave a little laugh as he flew into a position to catch the ball when Mordred threw it back out to him.

Mordred was ready for Aonghas to give him his best shot. He felt like he had be practicing his entire life for this exact moment. He was glad that his friend was also into Quidditch. The two did not have similar personalities, but they did get along very well. The quaffle was thrown a bit off, so Mordred easily flew to catch it. He lightly laughed at Aonghas's words, but he was a little worried. What if his friend sucked at Qudditch? What if he did not make it on the Hufflepuff team? He was worried for Aonghas, especially since his brother was a Quidditch player now after graduation. The genes seemed to run in the family, and he hoped that it hadn't skipped Aonghas. Mordred threw the quaffle back to the Hufflepuff. "You got this, Aonghas! Take as much time as you need to try and get it past me!" he said with a smile on his face.

Aonghas was a little frustrated when he hadn’t managed to throw the ball particularly well and his eyes narrowed a little at the reaction that his friend had to it. He pushed that all down as he took a better hold of the ball. He flew slightly out of the hoops and then flew back towards them. He built up a little speed and kept a better grip on the ball. He got close enough to throw and threw the ball hard, aiming for the hoop on the right. He had much better aim this time, getting it near dead on to where he needed it to go. Aonghas knew he was just a little bit out of practice and just needed to focus and work on it. He would get better at it with this practicing. He just needed to focus on training and he’d improve. Aonghas hadn’t done a whole lot the year before with other things on his mind quidditch had just seemed exceedingly unimportant, but now he had a bit of catching up to do, ”I just need more practice,” the hufflepuff said mostly to himself.

Mordred was not very good at hiding his feelings. When he was disappointed, he was used to showing that. However, he was doing his best to keep his disappointment at Aonghas' first shot. He did not want to hurt his friend's feelings at all, and if he had, he did not know how to go about that situation. Mordred kept focus on the quaffle though. Mordred focused on where his friend was aiming instead of where he was heading, and from what he saw he was aiming for the hoop on the right, so he was able to react accordingly. It was close, but he was able to catch the quaffle, though it had been difficult. Mordred decided to stay silent, and he threw the quaffle back to Aonghas.

Aonghas caught the quaffle when Mordred threw it back at him. He flew out and began did a little lap to be sure that he was giving his friend a little bit of a break, but when he got close again, he threw the ball hard, aiming for the hoop furtherest away from where he was flying towards. The hufflepuff hoped that it would confuse him and it would sail through the hoop. He thought practicing would be good and would help him improve for any match that he could end up playing in and felt a little pressure from his friend to do better. So many people in his family were players, so many of them were good. Then there was Mordred whom he felt like he needed to be doing as well as. He needed to be worthy of his own name, even if it meant something much weirder to him now than it had before. He just needed to do well while playing against his friend.

Mordred adjusted his gloves as Aonghas took another lap around the pitch. He was ready for this quaffle. He felt like Aonghas was not as good as the rest of his family, but he was not in the position to judge his friend. He was practicing with him, so he was really happy to be able to show him some of thew cool things that he could do on his broom. Mordred was caught a little off guard so the quaffle sailed through the hoop, which made him a little angry. However, he flew to catch the quaffle and threw it back to Aonghas.
