Dan thought he had ventured into the castle's innermost secrets, but so far he knew he hadn't. After all, the castle was huge and he had not visited the outside part of Hogwarts just yet. He decided today was going to be the day. It was pretty hot out, the sun was shining and Dan had the whole afternoon to do as he pleased. He smiled to himself. It was going to be a good day. His sister claimed she had other work to do, and he had looked at her as if she were from a totally different planet. Daniel had wondered many times what 'work' she had to do that he didn't. She might've been lying. Nonetheless, Dan was enjoying himself. He was going to see the lake today, and if that wasn't going to satisfy him, he didn't know what would.
When he arrived, he settled on a nearby bench and waited for his friend, Archie. When he came they would swim, Dan had heard stories of how cold the lake was, but at the moment he didn't care. All he knew was that he wanted to swim and wanted his friend to join him. Of course he could join in if he wanted to, Dan could never force one of his friends to do something. He respected them as much, at least. His sister, on the other hand... well, he could try to convince her at the most. She always gave in anyway. As he waited, the young Slytherin debated how deep the lake was. It looked pretty deep to him. Hopefully Archie would arrive soon, he didn't know him that well but he would make the effort. He'd rather have more friends than enemies. There weren't many students here today, and Daniel hoped the two Slytherin friends would have the lake to themselves at least for a little while.
