Veronica walked into the castle walls of Dumstrang that were so warm and welcoming regardless of the snow outside. She felt that she was finally back at home, far from the walls of Bella Donna mansion, its prison and its torture exercise. She couldn't wait to see her friends and get back to studying and catching up.

She freshened up a bit and than went to the common room with one of the new novels that she had got. She had no idea where her friends where but they would come back to the common room and she would meet them than. But she wanted to meet one person more than her friends and that was Zac.

She had a wonderful time with him back in New Zealand and she had missed him for one whole week but now that she was here she couldn't wait to see him.
 
Mark walked from a potions lesson that had seemed to drag on forever but it had finally finished and he was walking to the common room. He loved being in school as it seemed that everything bad was happening outside of school and he didnt want a part of it. He just wanted to keep his head down and make sure his grades were up to scratch for when he left.

Walking into the common room Mark sighed. He knew he was going to be bored for the rest of the day so decided to walk over to a girl to talk. With a smile he went next to her. " Hello. Im Mark. Nice to meet you. Sorry if im being a little out there but i thought what better way to pass the time then talk to a stunning girl like you." Not as stunning as my girl friend thought. Mark had to think tohimself so he wouldnt feel guilty about saying that to another girl
 
Veronica was reading one of her favorite novel, Pride and Prejudice and was enjoying it. She had used this copy so many times that it was looking like a library book that had passed down many hands before reaching hers. She was smiling as she read Mr.Dracy's joke when suddenly she looked up still smiling from the joke. It was one of her classmates, Mark but they hadn't seen much of each other for long.

"Hi" she said smiling at his compliment as she placed a bookmark in the novel and closed it. "I can't agree more" she said with a chuckle referring to passing time with a stunning girl. "I'm Veronica by the way" she said introducing herself as she was not sure whether Mark knew her name or not. "What lesson did you have this morning?"she asked him wondering how her timetable for the term was and how much she had to catch up. It couldn't be much since she had just missed a week.
 
Mark was happy when she introduced herself to him instead of just walking off. Mark needed a few more friends and after his many years of talking to girls he found it easier to make freind with them over boys. " Well i just had Potions. I hate the subject, i can never do them properly." he laughed. " Thats a good book by the way. My cousin used to read it a lot and would make me listen to her read it." he laughed and rolled his eyes and sat down. He put his lesson things next to him on the sofa. " DO we have a lesson together because i think i have seen you in my Dark Arts class." He asked remembering her face
 
She laughed when Mark said he couldn't do the subject well. Potions and Herbology being Veronica's favorite two as she was a natural at them and loved it, she couldn't comment. She smirked when Mark mentioned his cousin reading Pride and Prejudice to him. "We will be having lesson together and must have had in the past because I remember to have seen you in many of my classes" she told him.

"I had to go before completing exams last year since my father passed away and came back today, a week late but they agreed to take me in 5th Year" she said grateful to her mother for once since she had the power to convince the authorities and save Veronica from repeating a whole year. "Are the Qudditch try-outs for this year over?" she asked wondering if Mike had any idea about the try-out dates. Veronica liked playing seeker and she had decided to try out this year. She just hoped they weren't done already.
 
Mark smiled as he thought for a second. He could remember seeing her in the past in some of his lessons. He quickly nodded his head at her to answer her last question. " I think they are. By the way how come a stunning girl like you is sat on her own?" He said with a charming smile towards the girl. He loved to flirt with the girls, girlfriend or no it didnt really change anything. It was just flirting right...

(sorry its rubbish my brain is not working today)
 
Veronica sighed when he said that the thought the tryouts were over. Maybe she could just see if she would be allowed to play as a substitute or something. Her attention was drawn back to Mark when he asked her a flirty question. Smiling a little she said "Because I just came back and have no idea where my friend is. So I thought it would be worth to make some new ones."

Veronica had got much used to guys who flirted with her but now that she had a boyfriend she wasn't going to flirt back because she did really like Zac and it wouldn't be a good sight if he came to find her flirting with others. However she was curious if Mark had a girlfriend or not because that would explain his flirting a little. "What about you? Why aren't you with a girlfriend of yours?"she asked him with a grin wondering what he would reply.
 
(As mark as left durmmy il just say he left and Josh can take his place.)

Mark shrugged. He did like spending time with Shilo but he was smart enough to know that everyone needed their own space and he didnt want to be too clingy. "Well i do spend time with her but i dont want to smother her so she is somewhere and im here." He siad passively. It was when he saw his owl fly through the window with a letter that he stood up. "Sorry i have to go now." He said taking his bird and going to his dorm.


Josh walked into the common room after having a dark arts lesson. He through his bag on the floor and when he saw Mark he smiled and went over to talk to him. When he got there how ever Mark left so Josh sat down and tried to make it look like he had come here to do just that anyway. He looked at the girl with a smile. "So you know Mark then. Good guy right." He said starting a conversation off with her
 
Veronica watched as Mark spoke of his girlfriend and then said he had to go. As she said goodbye to him she watched another guy come sit by her. She wasn't interested in making friends with this one since she had heard rumors about him being gay. Not that she had any problems with people who were gay but she had heard that he had an evil side and wasn't nice. She eyed him as watching him talk to her. "Yes he is, unlike others"she taunted him.

She watched him from the corner of her eye trying to see his evil side and unmask him. He was hiding his dark side behind this handsome face of his. "How come you felt like having a chat with me ?"she asked him, her voice not the silky and musical but sharp. "Seemed like you were more interested in making friends with Mark" she added.

(sorry, felt like being enemies with Joshua :p )
 
Joshua laughed. He knew that there were a few nasty people around this school but he did his best to avoid them. "Yeah i know there are a few characters in this school. I learnt to avoid them, dont like that sort of crowd." He said as he leant back on the sofa.

Josh followed her comment with a shrug. "Well i came over to talk to Mark, We havnt spoken in a while and i heard he had a girl friend. Pretty little thing but she isnt my type. I like girl that are more...Calmer. But dont worry i already know Mark besides a pretty girl like you, why wouldnt i want to talk." He said with a wink. He may have been with Kenny but e had heard that he was cheating so Josh didnt care what he did now. "Im Joshua by the way." He said with a grin
 
Veronica watched as he tried to play nice. Maybe she would play along for a while because if she acted wild cat right now he would run away and she wouldn't get to know how he actually was. She heard him talk about Mark's girlfriend and that she wasn't his type. She couldn't help but fake a smile as she watched him wink at her. "I'm Veronica White" she said introducing herself.

"I thought you were gay, how come you are interested in girls?" she asked him wanting to sort this matter for starters. Sometimes rumors could be totally fake and she knew Dumstrang being expertise at spreading that kind of thing like fire but she had to know for herself. Not that she trusted Joshua to tell her the truth but she would just have to play by his word, at least for now.
 
Zac groaned as he picture the scene of his ex girlfriend kissing another boy. He was VERY disappointed at her and he wasn't sure if he was going to get another girl in his life. He was broken hearted and he was a little depressed. He hated her since then but he never touch the girl, he wasn't a violence type of boy anyway.

Zac made his way toward the corridor and found an ex girlfriend of his talking to... "Joshua" He called a best friend of his calmly and walk toward them with his hands on the pocket. "Trying to flirt with him? White..." He said coldly as he look at the girl and then back to his mate. "I guess you've found her Josh... This is the girl" Zac told him about breaking up with a girlfriend of his to Joshua the night before. "You probably would want to think twice before flirting with her" He looked at Joshua and then back to the girl.
 
Before she could hear a reply from Joshua she heard a familiar voice call his name. Oh not again! she thought sadly as Zac walked up to them and talked coldly with her. She had enough of this and if Zac wanted to break up with her over something where she was little at fault then be it. "We are not flirting, Zac" she said between clenched teeth as she got to her feet.

"Why are you under the impression of me flirting with him? And why do you care if I am flirting. I thought we had broke up? Wasn't that what you said not caring what those words did to me? Can't two people merely talk about something?" she questioned him her eyebrows raised and fury masking her face. "What happened the other night is not how you think of it" she added wanting to clear this once and for all. She counted to ten in her head. "I...wasn't myself" she explained hoping Zac would at least hear her out.
 
Deep inside Zac's heart, he still cared for Veronica and he till love her but after what happen, the feeling was gone. He eyed her coldly as he listen to every single word of hers "I guess I don't care about you anymore" He lied, he had dark circles on his eyes, he hadn't been sleeping for the whole week. He only had 1 hour sleep every night thinking about Veronica. Zac's puppy love was a perfect girl, Sandy had always been there for him and had been thinking like mature girls unlike this one.

"How can you not be your self?" He rose hie eyebrow with sorrow on his eyes. "Don't lie to me Veronica. If you like that guy then go for that guy and don't you ever! Go near me again" He spatted and then look back to his friend, Joshua. "You better get your butt away from her, Josh" He nudge him playfully hoping that he could catch up with his homework soon. His grades were falling, he hadn't been attending classes lately, he was all torn up.
 
Joshua was about to answer the girls question but then he heard a voice. He turned around and saw Zac, his best mate. Josh stayed quiet while the two of them argued. He didnt actually know what to say although he stood up and looked at the two of them awkwardly. "Urm i think i will leave you two alone. And urm im not gay. I like both." He said with a wink. "Best of both world." He said then patted Zac on the shoulder and headed for the boys dorm
 
Veronica heard Zac's reply that pierced through her heart. It was worse than being tortured because she was truly ashamed of what had happened that night and she could only be free of the guilt if Zac forgives her. Her head was too clouded to hear Josh's words which were not making any sense. She was going to give it one more try because she couldn't bare seeing Zac so shuttered. "Zac..." she begun her hands on his shoulder as she looked at him with her teary eyes.

"I don't like Enzo" she said in a whisper clearing her head and trying to concentrate on convincing Zac. "I...I had..been drunk" she admitted ashamed and embarrassed of her silly behavior. She couldn't look into his eyes anymore and therefore she sat on the sofa with a light thud as the truth that she had just said out loud sunk in. She started sobbing as she cursed herself for her stupid behavior and prayed that Zac wouldn't be hurt by all this for she could not watch him in such a state.
 
Zac let out a small chuckle after listening to what Joshua said. "Later Josh" He punch him in the arm playfully and then glare back to his ex girlfriend, Veronica. "You're too young to drink so please do explain me the REAL reason" He said coldly as he glare at her as he felt a hand of hers placed on his shoulder. "Don't touch me" He warned her not moving an inch as he look at her in the eyes. He was crushed and he felt really sad and disappointed.

Zac then saw her cried on the sofa, if Zac was in his room, he would probably cry but he was in front of people and he had to act tough just like his sister Sally who would only drop a single tear after mourning her mother's death. Zac hated seeing girls cry, his heart was broken and he couldn't forgive her even though he wanted to. He couldn't trust a girl who cheated on him. "Don't lie, you do like him don't you? I saw you flirting with him" He looked to the cold stone wanting to scream so loud.
 
Veronica was sobbing on the sofa but Zac's words didn't do any comforting to her. Now he wasn't believing the fact that she was drunk that night and was guessing that she infact liked Enzo. She sobbed harder for a while as she tried to find some points through which she could make Zac believe her. After a minute she got back to her feet and gazed into his brown eyes as she said "That is the real reason. I was drunk and although I am embarrassed to admit it I had alcohol in my full senses. When I came back to the castle it was around ten at night and then I searched for some food and then I didn't want to sleep and then I came across..Enzo" she said remembering how everything had taken place that day.

"I had been alone the whole day and I had tried to find you in the village but I couldn't and then at night I was drunk and I thought I didn't care about you...and...I..kissed him" Veronica said the truth hoping Zac would believe her.She wiped away her tears waiting for an answer from Zac. However when she heard that Zac was accusing her of liking him she got furious. "Why can't you not understand? I Veronica White like you, Zac Kuang and I have never felt like that for anyone" she was now yelling as she held his collar in anger.
 
Zac knew that she wasn't lying and he felt sorry for her, however he was too disappointed in her cheating on him. "Oh so? You thought you didn't care? When you're drunk or not?" He spatted as he look at her holding his collar in anger, deep inside his heart, Zac loved her and he hadn't fall for someone for a very long time. But Veronica ruined the chance, he wanted to get back with her, however he didn't know if he could trust her or not.

His eyes were filled with sorrow as he frowned and look at her. "Veronica" He said softly as he wiped her tears away from her with a handkerchief of his. "I hate seeing you like this" He held her hand and let it go as he took two steps away from her. "But I don't know if we can be together again" He sigh, he loved her with all his heart but he was too scared to be in a relationship with her.
 
Veronica was almost going to faint because although she had read drama like this she had never been part of something like this in real life. She shivered as he spat and she was almost going to run away when he spoke her name softly. Through teary eyes she looked up at him and to her surprise he wiped away her tears. She heard him say that they couldn't be together again. She didn't want to break up with Zac but if that's what he wanted then she wouldn't say no.

"I want you to be happy" she said looking up at him with a teary smile. "If you will be happy by breaking up then I'll understand" she said truly lying to him. It was true that she cared about his happiness more than hers but if they would break up she would be hurt badly but she didn't want Zac to see that. She masked her face, rising her guard and controlling her emotions. She wouldn't let Zac see the sorrow she would get by this break up because she was ready to have the sorrow to see Zac happy.
 
Zac was touched by Veronica and a small fake smile appear on his face. "I... Don't like seeing you crying" He said softly as he held on the handkerchief that he used earlier to wipe Veronica's tear. "I'm not happy Veronica!" He spatted, he was angry, VERY angry, he wanted to hit the wall so bad but Zac wasn't a Violent-type of boy. "I don't know what's in your mind! And I don't know why you cheated on me! I could understand that you were drunk! But..." He boasted and look at the floor as he tried to calm his self "I don't know that you're that low" He said softly, he knew this would hurt her feeling but he couldn't control himself.

He stood up as his eyes began to be filled with tears but he didn't drop any. "I... I'm sorry" He walk toward the wall as he rested his head to the wall and took a deep breath. "I don't like being treated like this" He said honetly, Zac was the type of boy who would want a loyal girlfriend and who wouldn't cheat on him. However, he was thinking about giving Veronica a second chance, but it depend on Veronica and time.
 
Veronica was almost smiling back happy that Zac was forgiving her and that his tone was soft when an unexpected after earthquake hit her. She stood there rooted at the spot to frighten to move thinking that he would probably hit her any minute. She knew he wasn't violent but she had never seen him so angry. Silent tears were moving down her cheek as she heard him speak. She knew it was all true. She had sunk lower than she had ever thought of and had cheated on him.

She was still crying as she watched him walk away and then rest his head on the wall. He apologized which didn't make any sense. Nothing was his fault than why was he saying sorry. "Don't apologize" she told him wanting so much for someone to torture her to death for hurting Zac's feelings to this extent. "If I had been you I'd probably have hit you by now and broken up" she said waiting for him to break up with her for one final time. She knew he wanted that since she had hurt him so badly and now she wouldn't stop him.
 
A small sad smile appear on Zac's face after hearing what Veronica told him. "I don't hit people" He said quietly, but that wasn't the point. Zac kneel down and sat on the cold floor as he rested his head to the wall and tidy his messy hair. He had been thinking about the mess, he wasn't sure if he was going to stay away from her forever or not. Everything were blurry for him, even his sight were blurry. A massive headache hit him, he had never had this kind of headache before except after knowing that Sandy passed away and after knowing that Sally secretly mourn her mom for several days.

He look up down to the cold floor thinking about Veronica their relationship. "I love you Veronica" He said quietly, he didn't know if he could trust her after what happen. What if the same thing happen twice? He would probably kill him self instead the girl.
 
Veronica almost laughed when Zac said he didn't hit people. That was the reason she had chosen to be with him. She wanted people who were not violent or evil like her and to change herself but from the turn of events she was just going to break those people's hearts and she did not deserve them. She turned to see Zac when he said 'I love you Veronica'. She was surprised to see him on the floor and it seemed he was in much pain. She wanted to comfort him and that could only be done if she left.

"I love you too" she said with a hopeful smile as she bent beside him and made him come to his feet. "But I don't deserve you" she added. She knew what those words did to her but if it were going to bring comfort to Zac than she didn't mind bearing pain. "I'll understand if you break up with me. I promise I won't cry or make it difficult for you" she told him with a smile as she wiped away her tears. "I can't see you in more pain" she continued as she wiped away the few tears on Zac's face. "Do it, Zac"

Zac let out a small sad smile on his face and look at the floor with his forehead rested on his left hand. He was surprised that a tear was dropped from his eyes, he wasn't planning on crying in front of someone. Zac was always tough, his father told him not to cry in front of people because he was a man. He was hoping that Veronica didn't see him dropped a tear but unfortunately it was too late, she had seen him and she wiped it away from him. He took her hand gently and hold it and kiss it gently before letting it go.

"Life's not perfect" He said softly, looking at the cold floor, picturing his family and even though he loved his half sister, Sally, his heart was broken when he found out that his father had another woman. Most kids would follow their parent's step but Zac didn't, he wasn't a player and Sally wasn't too. At least that was what he knew. "Especially not mine" He let out a small sad chuckle.
