Dan was hanging around in Dungeons. He was bored, but was also meant to be in Muggle Studies, which he really didn't fancy going to. Not that Dan attended any lessons these days. He had been lucky, so far he had been given the luck of not being caught by one of the many Professors. That was the last thing Dan needed. His family bothered him enough as it was, he didn't need the teachers negative attention aswell.

Dan had changed out of his uniform, he rarely wore his uniform. He didn't see the point in it, and he was disguised a little more out of uniform anyway. Dan was sat on the steps and had used 'Lumos' to light his wand so he could see where he was. The dungeons were covered in darkness, so a light was always needed, even if that increased his chances of getting caught. As Dan heard footsteps, he whispered 'Nox' to put the light out. He had not yet been taught/mastered wandless, or silent magic.

Professor Weasley didn't head to the dungeons very often, but today she needed to ask Professor Blaze about something. She'd been wondering about whether or not he knew what might be wrong with the willow trees. Some of them had appeared out of sorts when she had gone into the forest to check on them for an upcoming lesson. She knew she could easily ask Professor Styx, but the man still intimidated her even though it had been years since she left school.

As she stepped down the steps, Cyndi could have sworn she saw the flicker of a lumos spell being extinguished but when she paused in her steps, she didn't hear anything. Waving it off as a mouse or some other odd creature, the young professor pulle out her own wand and lit up its tip with a lumos spell. She held it high, the light from the wand not quite falling to the bottom of the landing. Cautiously, she made her way down the steps muttering to herself about the darkness. "I hope there's no one down here" she said aloud though it was more to herself than anyone else, since she didn't think anyone else was down there.

Dan could hear that the foot-steps were coming down the steps that he was sat on. He had to make a move. But Dan wasn't sure how he would do that without being heard. Dan thought for a minute, before practically crawling down the stairs in a slow manner before hiding behind the next corner. This was the closest Dan had ever been to getting caught, he wondered whether a bit of magic would help him escape punishment, or just get him a harsher punishment.

Dan panicked a little as he saw a light. He recognised that it must have come from a wand because the light wasn't shining all that brightly. Dan faced away from the steps. 'Lumos' He whispered quietly hoping the mystery person hadn't heard him. Dan knew that he that he needed some light if he was going to stand any chance of escaping. As Dan tried to creep past the steps and across to the other side, but he tripped over a loose bit of stone. After a few wobbles, he managed to keep his balance, but the stone went flying forwards. He was done for now. Dan remained around the corner, going anywhere near the steps was just too risky, especially now he had created noise.

Although it was slow going, Professor Weasley managed to get down to the bottom of the steps without tripping. Something was odd though. She could have sworn that there was a person at the bottom, but when she'd reached there, there was nothing and noone to be found. "Hmm..." she murmured to herself, finding it curious. If it was a creature, like a mouse or bug, it was likely long gone, but if it was a student, there were only so many places that he or she could be hiding. And why were they hiding? she wondered, an expression of disapproval crossing her face.

As she continued to walk down the corridor, Cyndi held her sky blue robes up a bit, not wanting them to drag on the damp spot on the dungeon floor. She was almost convinced that she had imagined the entire thing and was turning to head to Professor Blaze's office when she heard what sounded like stones clattering. Her head whipped around in the direction of the noise to glance at whoever was there. "You might as well come out" she called to whoever and crossed her arms across her chest as she waited for whoever it was. She knew the noise was coming from around the corner, and hoped that whoever it was would be brave enough to come out and not make her chase them because she was not going to chase them. A quick spell and she could stop the person quickly enough.

Dan knew there was no hope. He had basically been caught, the mystery Professor just hadn't seen him in person yet. Dan walked out so he was in view. Dan would never usually give up, but there was no escape in the Dungeons, what other choice did he have? "It's Me..." He said simply, but in an annoyed manner. Dan wasn't willing to completely reveal himself just yet.

Dan held his wand away from him. 'Lumos' He said. He needed light, but he didn't want his face to be in view, because then he really would be in trouble. Dan didn't recognise the Professor as one who had taught him. 'That's Good, she doesn't know me.' He thought to himself. Dan approached the Professor with his wand held out, pointing towards her. He didn't plan on using it, but Dan had no problem on using magic if it was necessary. But knew that the Professor would almost certainly have more magical knowledge than he did, so he was going to avoid any magical use.

Dan then made the sensible decision to point his wand towards the floor, but he still let the light shine upwards from his wand. "So...what ya gonna do?" He asked, a little sarcastically. "What's my punishment?" He asked with a smirk, and a cheeky laugh. Dan wasn't afraid of any detention, and that was most likely what would be facing him in the near future. So Dan decided to make a joke out of the whole thing. Whether the Professor liked it or not.

The professor waited until she finally saw a shadow emerge from around the corner. She still couldn't who it was other than that it was a guy and one of the older students. His voice was deepr than that of the younger students anyway. She wasn't in a huge rush to give out a detention since she still didn't know exactly what the young man was doing down in the dungeons. He had been doing his best to not be detected, so she had the feeling it wasn't anything too good.

As he lit his wand and pointed it first at her and then down, Cyndi was beginning to grow impatient. Then, the boy spoke and a frown crossed her face as she realized that he seemed to be finding this funny. She didn't. "Well, your punishment will depend on what you were doing down here" she said slowly, wondering why the boy was already so sure he was about to be punished. It must mean he was doing something bad. "So...what are you doing? Skiving?" she asked wearily, taking a wild guess.

Dan decided to mess around with this Professor a little bit. He may have given himself up, but his fun hand't finished yet. "Yeah, maybe I was..." He said, choosing not to go any further than that. Dan hoped a detention or two was all he was heading for, he could deal with detentions. But getting the odd detention wasn't going to change Dan. If he didn't like a lesson he wasn't going to it simple as that.

Dan pottered around on the spot as he waited for the Professor to speak. "Go on...speak then." He spat out, trying to make the Professor jump a little. Dan laughed as he paused for a minute. "BOO." He said, in a raised voice, that wasn't quite a shout. He knew it would take a lot to make a Professor be scared of him, and this Professor probably wasn't scared at all. But Dan liked to at least try and create some fear of him.

Cyndi listened to the boy and rolled her eyes at his answer. Now, she was sure he was skiving simply from the evasiveness of his answer. When he told her to speak, Cyndi stood silent for a moment, not because she didn't know what to say, but because she honestly did not like being ordered around by anyone, especially not a student. Her eyes narrowed when he continued, as if he were attempting to scare or intimidate her. Someone had already tried that at the Medley and failed, and Professor Weasley was not about to let a student attempt to do the same.

"You know...you probably could have gotten off with a warning if you weren't doing all that" she said wearily, waving her hand as if to dismiss his actions. She wasn't much for giving detentions out, but this boy seemed to want one. And if it was a detention he wanted, she would try her best to make sure he got one. "Who's your Head of House?" she asked, curious to discover which house he belonged to. She already had an inkling of an idea, but sometimes she was wrong.

Dan continued to play on his cheeky attitude towards the Professor. Not only because that's how he was, but because he quite enjoyed it. Especially with this Professor. She didn't seem to be taking any of Dan's nonsense, which just made Dan more willing to wind her up even further. He had done it plenty of times to old Professors, and his family in the past, and now was no different in Dan's eyes.

Dan kept up the cheek. "I could've gotten off, and maybe I still will." He said, giving the Professor his best try at an innocent face, before laughing it off. "I ain't going to no punishment that you give me...so urm...you might aswell forget it." He said, deciding to act up a bit. Dan smirked when the Professor asked who his Head of House was. Dan wasn't interested in that kinda thing, and he honestly didn't know, and he wasn't about to find out for the likes of some random Professor that he didn't know. "Urm, you think I care?" He said, remembering that he wasn't in uniform and feeling glad that he wasn't. That way he could wind this Professor up a little more. "Well, I suppose Slytherin is my chosen house...but that ain't where that Sorting Hat of yours put me...I'm a Gryffindor.." Dan replied truthfully.

Dan would be surprised if the Professor believed him. Dan acted nothing like a Gryffindor, and he still didn't understand why he was put there. He wanted to be in Slytherin, but it seemed that Slytherin was not meant to be for Dan. He was in Gryffindor and there was nothing that he could do about it.

Professor Weasley scowled at the boy as he spoke. If he was really trying to avoid a detention, he definitely was not going about it the right way. Shaking her head, the young professor replied cooly, "I think the whole not getting detention thing is pretty much, no it is gone." She didn't want the student to get his hopes up that he was going to get away with skiving, being out of uniform and being rude to a professor. She didn't care if he thought he wouldn't do a detention since things were slowly leaving his hands. She'd given him an opportunity to avoid punishment, but his rudeness was making his decisions for him.

She listened as he slowly but surely got around to telling her what house he was in. She knew he had to know who his head of house was, but if he didn't it would be simple enough to figure out. When he finally admitted what house he was in, the professor had to admit she was surprised. "Well, that makes things easy then. And I know your head of house fairly well seeing as he used to be mine too. It'll be great having a chat with Professor Fletcher." Professor Weasley smiled then. She wasn't going to allow the boy to make her lose her temper. It seemed to be what he wanted, but she wasn't going to give in.

Dan was slowly starting to loose his cockiness, and it was gradually turning to anger. This Professor certainly knew how to wind him up. It wasn't very hard to get on Dan's nerves, but this Professor had gone just the right way about it. Dan wasn't angry because he'd have to go to a detention, he was more angry because this Professor had beaten Dan at his own battle.

The Professor finally drew the line for Dan when she started making a happy thing out of seeing Professor Fletcher. "Arghh Will you just shut it...I don't care that you're a Professor, you're trying to make a joke out of me, and I won't have it." He said, beginning to raise his voice. "If you're gonna punish me, then punish me already." He said, his normal speaking voice had turned to a shout by the last few words that he spoke. "So go on, do something then..." Dan shouted, grabbing his wand as a first instinct. Dan knew fully well that he wouldn't stand a fighting chance against any magical battles with this Professor, or any Professor. It was more of an 'acting hard' thing for Dan than anything else. It was just the way Dan was.

Cyndi was able to keep the smile off of her face, but she could tell that her cheeriness was annoying the Gryffindor boy. She knew that somehow it would be much easier for him if she was mean. Maybe he was used to professors being that way with him. His interest in being a Slytherin was apparent in his actions, but in Cyndi's opinion, when it came down to it, the sorting hat was never wrong so if it said that this guy should be a Gryffindor, he was whether he liked it or not.

A flicker of her anger crossed her face when the guy told her to shut it, but then her smile returned though it was a little dimmer. He was actually asking for a detention. That was unheard of. When he began to raise his voice and then went lifted his wand, Professor Weasley shook her head, her hand ready to whip out her wand if she needed it. She was fairly good at wandless magic as well, so if he tried something quickly, she would be ready. She hoped that it didn't come to that though because then the boy would be in trouble that he wouldn't be able to get out of.

Professor Weasley sighed. "I'm not trying to make a joke of you Mr.-" she realized she didn't know his name then, but continued on anyway. She stood off to the side, indicating that he should begin heading back up the stairs. "C'mon then since you seem so into the idea of being punished. It's time to visit your Head of House. I haven't got all day and I'm sure you've got other er...things to be getting to as well." She waited for him to head up the stairs. One way or another she was going to visit Professor Fletcher and she only hoped the boy would be wise enough to accompany her and take his punishment like an adult.

Dan smirked as she referred to him as Mr. How did she think she'd be giving him detention if she didn't even know his name. 'Pathetic.' Dan thought to himself as he laughed a little. Dan almost felt sorry for any Professor that would have to deal with him in a detention. The last detention Dan had received was at Hogwarts Scotland, and he wasn't in that room for all that long. The Professor's hated him there, it was part of the reason that he had moved to New Zealand.

Of course, the Professor's in New Zealand hated his cheek, and generally angry temper towards life aswell. But Dan only had a year or two of school left, so they would have to deal with him. Whether he was in a lesson or out of a lesson. Dan didn't always enjoy causing trouble, but with this particular Professor it seemed incredibly fun in Dan's eyes.

Dan laughed at the Professor as she thought he enjoyed being punished. "Nononononooooo...Wait a sec...I don't enjoy being punished, that's no fun...I enjoy being a tease..." Dan said, as he slowly began to walk up the steps as the Professor had indicated. "So uhh...who is this 'Professor Fletcher' and where's his office?" Dan asked, as a cheeky smile appeared across his face. Dan wasn't going to try and escape from this Professor's clutches, he had quite enjoyed watching her emotions change infront of him, and he didn't intend to let the fun stop just yet.

When the boy began to climb the steps again, Professor Weasley crossed her arms and began to follow. She assumed that he really didn't like receiving punishment since most people usually didn't. "Well, that's good to hear" she said quietly and then became quiet again. She gave his back a confused look when he asked who his head of house was. Surely the two must have had some sort of contact with each other at some point. Then, she realized that the boy must be a transfer. If he had been in the school when she graduated, she likely would have remembered him and even though she didn't know all of the students who had been younger than her, she knew some of them, especially the Gryffindors.

"Professor Fletcher is the Care of Magical Creatures professor, which I assume you don't take or go to or you'd know him." The young professor continued to walk and sped up so that she was not walking behind the boy but had caught up with him. Falling into step beside him, she glanced sideways at him. "So what were you doing down in the dungeons?" she asked as they finally reached the top step. He hadn't given her a straight answer and she was curious. The dungeons had never held an interest to her and she wondered what the students did down there.

The Professor almost seemed to be a light weight. She hadn't appeared to have raised her voice, and she had made a few annoying jokes along the way aswell. Dan wasn't keen on those sort of Professors, he liked people that challenged him, but weren't against him. A bit like his friend, Siddalee who he had met the other day.

Dan smirked as the Professor explained who Professor Fletcher was. Surprisingly, Dan had never come across him in his first year here. This would either be a useful, or not so useful introduction for Dan. Useful, because then Dan could get to know his routine and keep out of his way, or not so useful, because he would now that Dan was known for his deviance, he may try and keep tabs on Dan. Something that Dan found awfully annoying. "Oh right, yeah, that guy...yeah..." He said, in a kind of relaxed, but closed-off way. Dan was being careful to not reveal to much about himself to this Professor. She knew enough already.

Dan scowled at the Professor as she asked what he was actually doing in the Dungeons. He was purely skiving, and nothing more, but Dan wasn't going to be that straight with the Professor. "Oh well, ya know, this and that...and a little bit more..." Dan laughed, knowing that the Professor's reaction to his cheek wasn't going to be a good one. "It's during lesson time, the dungeons are usually pretty quiet during lesson times...what else do you think I was doing? Making a potion?" Dan said, with a laugh sounding from the back of his throat as he did so. Dan was trying to make the Professor's question now seem stupid.

Professor Weasley realized fairly quickly that the boy was never going to give her a straight answer. That was pretty fine with her. If he didn't want to admit what he'd been doing, she wasn't going to force it out of him. That wasn't her job. Once she turned him over to his head, the Gryffindor would no longer be her problem unless Professor Fletcher left his detention with her. "I see" she said with an eye roll.

She continued to listen to him as he spoke and then glanced at him, surprised slightly that he was being cheeky again. "I had a feeling that the last thing you were working on was a potion, especially since you were too busy running away from the sound of my footsteps." She shook her head slightly as they began to make their way up the steps toward Professor Fletcher's office. By the sounds of it, the boy had never met the Head before so she knew that this was likely going to be an interesting meeting.

Dan wondered who would be leading his detention. Professor Fletcher, or the one infront of him. He hoped it was Professor Weasley. Dan enjoyed being a tease towards her and just generally getting on her nerves. It seemed that Dan got more stick from female Professors, which made them a whole lot more fun to annoy. The Male Professors seemed hard and up-tight, the sort of attitude that would make Dan just kick-off.

Dan listened to the Professor's words, and decided to make a joke out of his response. "Well maybe I should've been practising transfiguration instead then, that way I could've turned my book into a rat to scare you off then escape with no trouble at all." Dan laughed a little at his answer. "Wha's ya name like anyway? Professor..." Dan trailed off, allowing her to finish off his sentence with her sir-name. Dan knocked on Professor Fletcher's Office Door, then stood with his hands shoved in his pockets as he waited to see if there was any response. Dan hoped he wasn't around.

Cyndi smirked at the Gryffindor's comment. "That might have been a better use of your time" she agreed. She was glad he didn't because even though she wasn't really afraid of rats, she certainly didn't go out of her way to come across vermin.

"Do you know any of the professors here?" she asked with a slight chuckle. "Weasley's my last name" she supplied, finally getting around to answer his question as he knocked on the door of his head's office. She waited to see if he was in. If he wasn't, she was going to have to leave him a note to contact her so she could let him know about this student.

This semester had gone quickly. Fletcher had been absent for a fair few weeks this semester due to an infection in his wound where the Werewolf had infected him, but St.Mungos were able to clear any serious danger within a few days, and the Professor was hospitalised for a week before being allowed to return home to get some rest and to be able to fully recover.

Planning lessons for next semester was tedious. There was no doubt about it. He had awoken earlier than usual to get them sorted, and had been hard at work since, and was secretly glad to have an excuse to have a break from the work. He cleared his desk, with a casual flick of his wand, making sure the lesson plans that were written on pieces of parchment collated together in a neat pile on one of the corner's of his desk. Scratching his unshaven face, he retook his seat, and rested his hands on the desk. "Come in" he answered in reply to the knock, waiting patiently for the visitor to enter, wanting to know what they needed.

When she heard the familiar voice call out, Cyndi smiled to herself and reached her hand to the knob. She hadn't really seen the professor around much lately now that she thought about it. Opening the door to allow both her and the Gryffindor to step in, Cyndi smiled over at her former head of house. "I'm sorry to bother you Professor Fletcher" she said tentatively. She still found it odd that she was now a colleague to some of the people who had taught her. This was nearly the strangest though. Speaking to Nicolas KIng and calling him Nicolas and not Professor King was still by far the weirdest. "I have a student of yours here. Caught him skiving in the dungeons." She gestured for the boy to step forward. If he wanted to be out of class, he should be willing to suffer the consequences now.

He looked up to see a familiar face. "Ah Professor Weasley." Fletcher said, careful not to call her by her forename. "Please take a seat" He spoke to them both lightly, gesturing to the two seats in front of them. "What is te problem?" Tom enquired. He listened as she explained that she had caught a student from Gryffindor skiving from lessons. He looked at the Gryffindor. "Mr Adams" Tom started, having not taught nor interacted with the Sixth Year. He knew the reason behind why he transferred here, but wasn't sure of which other Professor knew the reasons why."Would you care to explain the whole situation to me? And your reasons for skiving lessons?" Tom asked, seeing whether Mr. Adams would co-operate. Tom thought that Dan would understand how important attending lessons was, seeing as though he was a year and a half away from taking his N.E.W.T exams, the results of which would be vital for him doing well later on in life, in the world of work. He looked at Mr Adams, waiting for him to hopefully co-operate.

'Damn It.' Dan thought to himself as he heard Professor Fletcher call 'Come In.' He followed in Professor Weasley's footsteps and took a step or two into the office. Dan would've usually made a run for it, but there was no escape now. The Gryffindor's Head Of House had him right in reaching distance. Dan considered heading back out of the door, but refusing to be a wimp, Dan stuck with it as he glared at Professor Weasley, before shoving his hands into his pockets.

Dan reluctantly slumped himself into the seat at Professor Fletcher's request. He listened as he questioned his reasons for skiving. Dan had no real reason for skiving, he was just one of those boys who didn't get along with the whole 'school' idea. A muggle school would have been no different for Dan. School was school, and Dan wasn't going to attend any lessons he didn't want to go to. "I don't know...I just don't 'do' lessons..." Dan replied, as he glanced at Professor Weasley, before turning to Professor Fletcher. "Forget the reasons, just get on with it will you?" Dan said, shuffling in his seat, as he slipped his leg over the arm rest and let it hang there.

Cyndi stepped over to one of the seats and sat down, sitting back so that she was seated comfortably. She stayed quiet as Professor Fletcher addressed the boy whose name was apparently Mr. Adams, and asked him what he had been doing. Cyndi looked at him, ignoring his glare as she waited for an answer. Perhaps the Head would have a better time of finding out than she had. Mr. Adams response was not an answer though and her eyebrow arched as she gave Tom Fletcher a look as if to say 'See what I've been dealing with.' Every response that the boy had spoken to her so far had been full of the attitude that he was making no attempt to hide even in front of the Head of Gryffindor House.

"You should have some more respect for your head of house" she said, her temper rising slightly at his blatant display of not caring. She knew that he was far from needing her to back him up, but Cyndi couldn't help it. It was one thing that the student would give her attitude but quite another for it to be given to Professor Fletcher, a teacher she quite respected.

Dan was keeping a close eye on Professor Weasley as he waited for Fletcher's response. Dan had noticed her little look at Professor Fletcher, and rolled his eyes as he let out a fed up sounding sigh. Dan smirked and laughed a little as Professor Weasley told him that he should have more respect for his Head of House. That was never going to happen, Dan didn't even have respect for his own mother and father, how did they expect him to act respectful towards them?

"ME? You expect me to have respect for him? Are you actually off your head?" Dan replied with a smirk. Whatever the pair of Professor's said, Dan wasn't having any of it. He didn't like school, and he didn't like Professor's, and until they learned to accept that, Dan wasn't going to do them, or himself, any favours whatsoever.

He watched in horror, as the student was rude, disrespectful."Mr Adams, that is quite enough" Tom said standing upright, his voice raised. "It is clear that you have no respect for the Professors here at Hogwarts, and that you are incapable of knowing when to admit you are in the wrong, and rise above and apologise. I am afraid that you will not take the one opportunity that I will give you to apologise to Professor Weasley. If you do not take this opportunity then you leave me no choice but to give you detentions. I implore you to take this opportunity, to apologise, so we can forget about this and move on.

He awaited Dan's reply, hoping he would make the right choice. Never one had he faced a student more rude, but he hoped that Dan would reassess the situation, for his benefit.
