Keye had to admit, telling Josh had been the easiest since finding out she was pregnant. Telling anyone else... she hadn't been sure how to deal with it. As much as she'd joked around with Josh and pretending that the news was happy one and okay, now that it came to the part about telling anyone else, there was a clog in her throat where words should have been. She hadn't told Felix yet - she wasn't sure either if Josh would have seen fit to tell him since Josh had basically banned her from leaving the house. He'd actually been banning her from leaving the bed. She'd decided to acquiesce for a couple of days just to let her son's nerves settle though now it was hers that were going haywire. The last time she'd gotten pregnant... The last time she'd had to tell the father... She had to keep repeating to herself that it was different now. That she wasn't eighteen and barely out of school and didn't have life figured out. She wasn't helpless and desperate. It would go differently, she had to believe that at least because she didn't know how Josh would handle it otherwise. How she would handle it. No. Even if... Dexter wouldn't. But on the very, very small chance that he did, Keye wouldn't fall apart this time. Felix and Lani had their own little family now so she wouldn't be able to ask anything of them, but she knew, she could handle it. She'd done it once and it was worth it. She hoped she wouldn't have to. She sincerely hoped she didn't have to. But perhaps she'd been putting it off for long enough, which was why she'd invited Dexter over for dinner and was now waiting for him to arrive. A nice meal to settle her nerves and the morning sickness which wouldn't stay in the mornings. Merlin, she hoped he'd take the news well.

Dinner with Keye always felt like it was just an excuse to get him in her flat. Dinner was never the important part, even they even got that far which was never a guarantee. This time felt different, he just couldn’t pinpoint why or what. Dexter apparated into a familiar alley a short walk away from Keye’s place, he never liked to appear too close as it felt like an intrusion and the short walk allowed him to shake off the post apparition queasiness. He headed up to the front door of her place and wrapped his knuckles on the wooden frame. Something was off. The vibes were all over the place, he guessed he’d soon find out why.

By the time Dexter had arrived, dinner was already set on the table, and she'd finished at least one episode of a minor freakout. She would never actually say it, but Josh's freakout had maybe triggered her own nerves and now she was also freaking out at the fact that she was pregnant. Sure she wasn't eighteen now but she was no spring chicken either. Was this the absolute worst time to remember that Dexter was younger than her? And that she was nearly forty. That was a delicate age for pregnancies, wasn't it? She hadn't really worried about it because she'd never really thought she'd get pregnant again. And did she and Dexter ever even discuss having kids? Probably not because she'd never really thought she'd be with anyone again. Or that she'd have another child because of her age. Okay so maybe she'd finished an episode and was still going through another when Dexter finally knocked on her door. And so it was with such frayed - possibly destroyed - nerves that Keye opened the door and the whole plan to tell him about the pregnancy promptly escaped to the wind. "I'm pregnant," was probably not the greeting he expected when she opened the door but it was what he got.
