Sumner felt the anger slip away, drain as if he had never felt the hot sting boil under his skin. Instead he simply felt-nothing. It was over, there would never be an 'us', a 'them'. They would cease to have contact, not even remain friends. "I didn't choose Lily." He was quiet, his eyes distant. "I didn't choose anyone. You did. A few snogs can't replace what it was that you did. So guess what Kat?" His hands slid into his pockets, he shrugged. "You've lost again. Because I may forgive you. But I won't ever forget." With that, he turned and walked out of the alley.

And there it was. The small spark of hope that she'd had was now extinguished, never more to be re-ignited. It was over for good. The hope of them ever being together again was gone. "You know what...f*ck you Sumner Reine. f*ck you and your new little Ravenclaw wh0r3. I really hope she's a decent piece of ass," she yelled after him before hitting her knees on the cold concrete ground. Kat felt the life drain from her as she curled up in a ball and gave in to everything that consumed her.

It was a good hour or so before she could will herself to stand and when she finally did a burst of energy filled her and she took off in a dead sprint towards the castle. She was covered in dirt from head to toe and her face was streaked red with tears. She was broken...damaged goods and she was going to make sure that she never felt this kind of pain ever again.
