Desislav Zhefarovich loved the fun of Halloween. Eating candy until your stomach protested, walking into pranks the professors had thoughtfully set up, and attending this party which was called a feast but always involved dancing and stuff. The teenager was one of the first to arrive, dressed as a muggle magician. He'd been given a book and kit for Christmas all about muggle magic, and the boy found it fascinating. Most of the tricks were lame, but still tons of fun, and he'd taken to walking around with a deck of cards.

Today, he'd added several other 'tricks' to his pocket that he'd reveal as the night wore on. He even had a black wand with a white tip just like the muggles. "Silly muggles. How could they ever think this could do magic?" He laughed to himself before beelining for a cup of juice before the line got too crazy.

Bethany was having a great time dancing in such a way that her wild curls flew everywhere, just the way she liked her hair. Part of her contemplated keeping her hair this color permanently, and she hadn't ruled it out just yet. After dancing for about twenty minutes straight, the tiny Gryffindor girl was tired and thirsty from all the action, so she decided to grab a cup of punch to cool down. While she waited for a student to finish pouring himself some juice, she took in his costume and furrowed her brows. "Of all the things you could be in the world, you choose to be a magician, when you're an actual wizard???" Beth questioned with an eyebrow raised, clearly judging the older boy. The fact that this boy was older and bigger than her had not stopped her from making such a comment. Growing up with six older brothers had taught her how to be candid and snarky just to survive her household. But even if her voice dripped with sass, there was a hint of playful mischief in her eyes that somehow made the comment seem less mocking.

Desi whipped around, delighted that someone recognized his costume and not taking any offense whatsoever at the girl's comment. "But magicians are fun. Wizards are...boring" Desislav stated. First there were classes and then they were supposed to be productive and get jobs. Where were the boxes full of water and the model beautiful assistants in all of that? "Do you get applause when you perform a spell? Nope. But if I do this..." he pulled the top hat off of his head, waved his wand at it, said the magic words, and then pulled a hopping chocolate frog from it. "The crowd would go bananas" he finished, putting the hat back on his head and grabbing the frog which had hopped on the drinks table. He took a huge bite. "What are you supposed to be?"

Beth tried to resist a smile when the older boy explained his choice of costume and even performed a trick. She had to admit, he had a valid point. But she wasn't going to concede that easily. "You're just playing right into the stereotype of what muggles think we are, it's almost offensive" she said mock-seriously. And then because she couldn't help herself she asked, "Do you know any other muggle magic tricks?" with a bright grin.

Beth poured herself some punch now that it was free and when he asked what she was supposed to be she said, "I'm a superhero!" as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, also holding up the small black cape behind her. "She's called Storm from X-Men and she has silver hair," Beth gestured to her spraypainted hair, "and she can control the weather and fly!" she explained, clearly feeling superior in her choice of costume.

Desislav shrugged his shoulders and took a sip of his drink. She was one person with one opinion. The Gryffindor didn't think he was trying to be offensive. He hadn't thought of it that way at all. Really, he'd just been trying to have fun. As she asked if he knew any other tricks, Desi realized that perhaps she did get that. He grinned. "Does a hippogriff like respect?" he answered her question with one of his own.

He was distracted by her explanation of her costume. "Does her power come from her hair?" he asked, genuinely curious and wondering why else she would need silver hair. It was a cool idea, superheroes, and he'd always held a bit of curiosity about them. Superman was the only one he knew, and he had a big ol' curl on his head. Hair was obviously very important to muggle superheroes.

Beth suppressed a small chuckle when he answered her question with another question, rhetorical of course. Her interest was piqued and she had to admit (internally) that his costume was pretty cool if it came with a form of entertainment. At his next question she actually laughed and said, "No! It's just supposed to make her look extra cool." She could've launched into a huge speech about what exactly the superhero could do, but as cool as she thought her costume was, she couldn't actually demonstrate any of the tricks the character could do, unlike the older boy who said he could perform the tricks that accompanied his look. After holding out just long enough, curiosity got the best of the little girl. "Let's see some more muggle magic then, if you know it," she said. Her voice was skeptical, but the eager look in her face betrayed her.
