Lesson 1

Gemma knew she had to 'buckle down' as her parents had stated. She had done poorly last year except in a few classes. Her parents gave her a long lecture about how textbooks and supplies were expensive. Gemma shouldn't be wasting resources if she was going to do her best. It had certainly made her feel rather guilty, determined to prove herself in one of the most important years. This was it.

The Slytherin girl entered the Transfiguration classroom. She was one of the last to arrive but thankfully was not late. She couldn't imagine being late for this professor. She took her seat in the front row only a few minutes before the door closed and the lesson started. Gemma placed her bag on her desk as she turned her attention to the rather serious professor.

Today's lecture and apparently this year was focused on the vanishing magic. Gemma was curious. She was surprised that they were taught about this when the ministry did not even know what happened to the objects. What if they all ended up in grumpy Professor Styx's house. Now that would be amusing. The smile crossed her face for a moment only when the professor took a dark turn about vanishing humans and murder. That ended on a note that Gemma had not considered. She felt a little uneasy now as she packed up her things and left the classroom.
