Transfiguration 5:4

Professor Lyra Potter had a huge cage of mice on her desk. She was sitting there next to them, but not too close. She had never been all that fond of rodents. When the students finally were settled in, she looked up and nodded to them all. "Good morning class!" Lyra said brightly at her fifth years.

Professor Potter moved in front of the class and spoke. "Today we are going to work with mice. These are a bit more difficult, since you need to not only make them disappear, but keep track of them until they are gone. The spell is the same, but you need to pay more attention to the parts of the mouse. We want to get them all now don't we?"

She moved to the cage, then began to call them up one by one to pick out a mouse. "There are plenty here, so please don't be too choosy. I have enough so if you wish to work with a second one, you may." Once everyone was seated again, she picked out her own mouse, and walked to the front of the class. Setting it down, she tapped her wand three times. "Evansesco!" The mouse disappeared mid stride as it tried to move away. "Ok. Get to work. I will be around to help if you need me."

Esme had taken a little while to vanish her snail during the previous Transfiguration lesson, so she was nervous that, as things got more complicated, she might struggle to keep up. Professor Potter announced that they would be working with mice in their latest lesson. Esme took one back to her desk and took out her wand so she could get to work. “Evanesco,” Esme said, her voice a little shaky from a lack of confidence. Nothing happened the first couple of times she tried, but she tried again and again until eventually, her mouse vanished. Once complete, Esme packed up her things and made her way out of the classroom.

Nox took a seat in his usual spot in Transfiguration and listened to his aunt as she told them they’d be working on vanishing mice. It was a step up from the snails in the previous lesson, and he hoped he’d be able to manage it. He took his mouse back to his desk and took out his wand so he could get to work. “Evanesco,” He pointed her wand down at the mouse on his desk and after a few attempts, he managed to make it vanish. Once the lesson was over, he packed up his things and made his way out of the classroom.

Winnie walked into the transfiguration classroom and took her spot in the room. She frowned at the mouse they were presented with, but knew at least she wouldn't struggle with the spell, since she wanted the mouse gone. She listened to the brief lecture but then just took her wand and one of the mice. She pointed her wand at it and said. "Evanesco," and it vanished. She was very pleased that she had done it. She didn't want to work with a second one, but did so anyway, managing with ease again.

William made his way into his mother’s classroom to continue to work on vanishing objects, this time moving on to mice. He sat and listened to her talk about the differences between mice and how it would be a step up from their previous attempts. William took out his wand, took a mouse back to his desk and got to work. “Evanesco,” It took a few attempts, but eventually, he managed to make the mouse vanish from his desk. Once the lesson was over, he packed up his things and made his way out of the classroom.

Lilith was a bit more nervous for Transfiguration than she'd been for any of her other classes this month so far. Having the leaf in her mouth meant that speaking clearly was a bit more difficult and she knew that she wanted to do well in Transfiguration above all other lessons. They hadn't had too much of spellcasting in other classes but if the previous ones for Transfiguration were anything to go by they'd have some more today.

It wasn't a surprise that that was the case as Lili settled into her usual place in the classroom. Seeing that the vanishing targets were mice this week made the prefect wince involuntarily. She really needed to focus on the task and not on the difficulty of speaking out the incantation clearly. Picking up her mice she returned to her seat and looked at the thing warily. She knew she already had the spell down pretty well otherwise now it was just to figure out how to speak the incantation with the leaf occupying most of her mouth and not spitting it out. Glancing around the classroom Lilith saw most of her classmates had already gotten to work and some had even already vanished their mice. No pressure.

Mumbling the incantation a few times to herself the Ravenclaw winced after every time, it was incoherent at best. "Evsaneshcho." She tired again, that one was a liitttttlle better, but not clear enough yet to even think about attempting on a living being. Clearinf her throat Lili used her left hand to pet the mice as she practiced the pronunciation over with the leaf. It was very strange. Maybe she should try to move the leaf into her cheek so it wasn't on her tongue or under it? Trying to do just that left her toying and battling with the leaf with her tongue until she finally secured it safely against her cheek.

Very well then let's try again. "Evaneshco." That was pretty good if she was to say so herself. Now she brought her focus back on the mice that had its beady eyes on her, just staring and blinking expectantly. She gave it an apologetic smile realizing the poor thing had probably just watched all of its friends vanish into thin air while it was left waiting for its demise.

Eyeing the mice up, focusing on each part of it Lilith took her time regaining her focus before raising her wand. Tapping the mice thrice and then speaking out "Evhanescho." The fifth year grimaced at the slip in pronunciation. Thankfully with the failed incantation nothing happened. Clearing her throat she squared her shoulders, wanting to try again. The second try was just as fruitless and the prefect was growing quite restless. She couldn't very well fail this one, now could she? She knew she could do it. Third time's the charm, right? Tapping thrice again she focused on every part of the mice as she spoke "Evanesco." Sighing in relief as the mice disappeared Lilith sat back down, slumping in her seat. Merlin that'd ben more difficult than it really needed to be but suppose that was what you got with the leaf in your mouth. In the end she'd managed the spell and hadn't even lost the leaf in the process so that was a win enough, right?
