The October sun was already high in the sky when Francesca Kendall-White woke at last. Her crisp white linen sheets were wrapped around her body, tangled between her legs and feet. She kicked them off, lying splayed out on the bed for a moment. A cool breeze crept through the partially open window, bringing her completely to her senses. All of a sudden, it occurred to her what day it was today. Francesca sat up with a start, swinging her legs across and padding bare footed across the brown tiled floor. Today was the day her sister was going to meet Basilio, an Italian pure blood whom she was arranged to marry. She checked her watch, glad to find that they still had a couple of hours to prepare for their meeting. It seemed a little unnecessary for Francesca to accompany Keira. She was an adult, who was perfectly capable of making her way to a destination in one piece. Unfortunately, Francesca knew it wasn't going to be that simple. It had been bad enough convincing her sister to move to Italy in the first place. Getting her to meet the man she was supposed to marry was in a whole league of it's own.

Francesca exhaled deeply as she switched on the kettle. You're more nervous than your sister, Francesca thought, pouring two coffees and adding extra milk to Keira's. Her train of thought was interrupted by a strange sound coming from the hallway. Francesca frowned, putting the milk back in the fridge and going out to investigate. Her sister was stood by the front door, fully dressed and pulling on her shoes. Francesca folded her arms, raising her eyebrows as she waited for her to finish. "Going somewhere?" She asked, her tone filled with a mixture of amusement and derision. It was a good try, Francesca gave her that. If she had woken up minutes later, she might well have gotten away with it, too.

Keira Kendall-White was for once pleased that she had woken up early. Her sister was still sleeping soundly, and she had plenty of time to wash, dress and slip out of the house before she woke. she didn't like the idea of sneaking off and leaving her sister with the difficult situation of having to explain to Basilio and his Mother that she had disappeared, but there was simply no way she could marry someone she didn't know. Heck, Keira didn't want to marry at all. She knew Francesca was only trying to do them both a favour. Basilio's Mother wanted her son to marry, and Francesca wanted Keira to get out of the house more and socialise with some wealthy, decent men, much unlike the ones she was used to meeting in clubs. Even so, there was no way she could go ahead with it. The whole idea was outrageous. Keira grabbed a packet of crisps from the cupboard, deciding that clanging around with bowls and spoons was too risky. Francesca was a light sleeper, and even the softest of noises could wake her. Keira crept into the hallway, doing her best not to rattle her front door keys as she slipped on a pair of white pumps. The sound of her sister's voice made her jump so violently she almost knocked over a potted plant. "What? No, I mean, yes, I mean.. I'm going out with you, remember?" Keira stumbled, trying not to sound as though she was extremely disappointed.

Two hours later, the Kendall-White sisters were boarding a small boat on the coast. The boat was taking them to Raven Manor, a huge house on a private island that the Raven family owned. Keira sighed as she watched the island get bigger and bigger, its size directly proportionate to the longing with which she wished to turn around and go home. She was vaguely aware of Francesca reassuring her that it'd be fine, but Keira was miles away. She didn't care how rich and influential this Basilio man was, she didn't want to marry him. She wasn't going to marry him. The boat arrived, and Keira reluctantly followed Francesca to the Raven Manor, dragging her heels. "Come on, smile. You look like you're going to a funeral," Francesca said, shaking her head. "If I have to marry a guy named Basil, you will be going to a funeral. My funeral," Keira said, the feeling of dread multiplying as they closed the distance to the driveway. Francesca hadn't lied - the place was huge. She expected the family needed several gardeners just to keep the place tidy. Finally, they arrived at the font door. Keira couldn't help but notice the ease with which Francesca managed to look beautiful. She felt very uninteresting in her pale, flowery dress next to Francesca in her sparkly, pearl coloured one. Francesca raised her hand and knocked sharply on the door.

The weather was beautiful this particular October day and one could be forgiven for thinking that anything remotely bad could happen on a day such as this one. Anyone that wasn't Basilio Raven that is. Unfortunately for the thirty two year old bachelor, his day was about to get a whole lot worse. Not that it had been particularly bad yet. Normally Basil wasn't one to attend meetings, he often found them to be dreadfully boring, but considering the day he had ahead of him, he'd decided to occupy his time in other ways instead of conversing with his mother, or his siblings, or anyone that might even think to ask him how he was feeling about such a momentous occassion. Momentous occasion indeed. There wasn't this much pomp and ceremony when his brother had returned how with a petite blonde on his arm. He'd never actually met the woman, often too busy to bother with such frivolousness, but he'd heard a lot about her from his mother and even some words of interest from his father. Basil wished he'd been able to go the way of his brother and disappear for a number of years only to return with the perfect woman. However this was not the case, as he'd been left to pick up the slack of the two before him. He'd always been the last one to figure things out. Alessio had left the family entirely to get away from the clutches of his mother, though that wasn't the only reason. Still, Basil had to wonder if he'd be listening to his father drone on if he'd left with Dante a couple of months ago. A year? He couldn't even remember how long it'd been. Both Ciro and Alessio had been hesitant, but Basil had handed the freak his bag and sent him packing with words of encouragement and told him not to get dead. Live your dream kiddo! Damn, his whole family was more clued in than he was.

Eventually the meeting came to an end and Basilio sighed. He couldn't stay here any longer and so with a great show of annoyance, he stood from where he had been lounging and walked out of the room, immediately making his way down to the foyer. His mother would be waiting for him to ensure that everything was perfect. Basilio had no idea what this girl was supposed to look like, how old she was, or even if he would like her. He doubted it very much, considering she was picked by his mother, why couldn't he had been Ciro again? Abbigale had two kids to a previous marriage for crying out loud! It was all so utterly ridiculous. The rate his family was going they were all going to be disinherited and he'd get everything, not that he would complain really. He'd not seen a lot of his family in recent months, something that he, admittedly, did regret, but he had been so busy, it was hard to make time for them. A bit ridiculous really considering they all lived under the same roof. Well, not Amanda, she was married with a couple of kids by now. The first Raven child to marry. She was certainly his mothers favourite, though she didn't visit nearly as often as she ought to. Amanda and Basil never really saw eye to eye. Whilst she was only ever interested in finding a husband, he'd always been more into intellectual endeavours, like actually learning. Whilst none of the Raven's were dumb by any sense of the word, except perhaps for Giuliano, they all possessed different levels of intelligence. Basil liked to consider himself the smartest, though he was likely just being prideful. Of all his siblings though, with whom he liked or disliked in varying degrees (there were an awful lot of them) Isabella was probably his favourite. She liked to let everyone think she was a little angel and whilst that was mostly true, Basil knew there was something else too, he suspected they all knew. Except he rather appreciated her for it.

Of course his closest relationships were with his mirrors. They'd been together since conception so it was hard to not like each other, though, he could have said the same for Arturo and Giuliano, but one only had to look at them to see the tension there. Regardless, he had always been close to both Ciro and Alessio, though they did tease him mercilessly about his name. When he was younger, he'd hated it, now he just didn't care and it no longer got the reaction they wanted, well, not outwardly. In saying that though, Basil had done his absolute darndest to make sure that he was nothing like his brothers. He'd failed of course, but he liked to think that the differences outweighed the similarities. It was unlikely, but he had to try. Specifically, he drank cold tea instead of the normal hot tea. He had, at one time, considered trying coffee, but also knew that it would probably constitute getting thrown out of the family. His mother had been rather strict on that when they were children. At the time he hadn't really believed her, but, considering that their family numbers were decreasing almost faster that they were increasing, it made sense to be wary. Eventually the clock struck the hour he was dreading and his mother began to fuss. She was incredibly excited, the shameless meddler that she was, and Basil was only getting increasingly more annoyed at her. Still, he supposed he could give her this, but if he didn't like this, Kira, or whatever her name was than all bets were off, well, he said that now, but he knew he would never actually go through with it. His mother had always been sickly, who even knew how long she had left. She already had two illegitimate grandchildren that wouldn't inherit anything, Basil had to at least do something for her. Merlin knew Ciro and Alessio wouldn't.

The door open to reveal two young witches on the third knock. Basilio's mother immediately ran forward and greeted the both of them, smiling and talking to them like they were old friends. Basil rolled his eyes discreetly. He didn't want to disgrace his mother in front of guests. Let no man, woman or child say that the Raven's were less than chivalrous. The old notion of Xenia might have been outdated, but it still counted for something. So instead of turning on his heel and leaving, like he really wanted to do, Basil immediately bowed to both ladies and greeted them in turn. Left first and then right. He would have normally greeted his intended first, but as he had no clue of which she was, he decided to go the slightly less formal route. Basilio's mother immediately bustled the pair into the marble foyer as it was rude to leave guests on the step and Basil soon joined her in the lounge. He smiled at both of the woman. Though it was not exactly genuine and gestured carelessly to the bar. "Would like drink?" He didn't care much to pay too much attention to either of them. He didn't care much to be honest and so he also didn't care that he actually could speak English. He figured it would be fun to play dumb. His mother would hit him for it later, but she would say nothing for now. He only had to marry one, produce a child and then he was done. Though he would have preferred to choose his own bride, the choice was taken from him and so now he had to make do with what he had. "Whisky? Water?" Italian whisky was some of the finest in the world and even if they did not partake, Basil most certainly did.

ooc: oops, i had no idea it was this long. Sorry!

Not seconds after Francesca had knocked on the Raven's front door, it had swung open, revealing a beautiful marble foyer. Moments later, the young witches were being greeted by a very enthusiastic, talkative lady. "Hello! You must be Emiliana," Francesca said with an affectionate smile. She hoped her English was as fluent as it had been in the letters they had exchanged. "It's lovely to meet you at last.. And you must be Basilio," Francesca added as her hand was shook by who she could only assume was Basilio Raven. He had a strong handshake, which only emphasized his masculine appearance. She was surprised to see him dressed in such formal attire, though she supposed that this meeting was a big deal to him and his Mother. It should have been a big deal to Keira, too, but the young witch seemed more preoccupied by the prospect of free drinks than anything else. As the sisters were bustled into the foyer, Francesca gave Keira a subtle nudge with her elbow, reminding her to be on her best behaviour. Despite only being a year older, Francesca had become quite the motherly figure to her little sister, and was quick to point her in the right direction at every chance she got. She only wanted to see Keira achieve her every dream, and to feel as though her life was a success. At the rate she was going, she was going to wind up single and alone at forty.

Francesca frowned momentarily, trying to work out what Basilio had said. His Italian accent was thick, and his English clearly not up to the standard of his Mother's. "We haven't tried Italian whisky before, have we?" Francesca turned to her sister, hinting heavily at Basilio as he offered them drinks. She did not want to put him to the trouble of opening an expensive bottle of whisky at their expense, so she gave him the option to suggest something else to drink. "Anything would be great though, thanks," Francesca added, refraining from saying 'anything alcoholic', even though that was what she was implying. She suspected the next few hours were going to go extremely slowly, and she wasn't sure how she was going to cope without a few drinks in her.

Keira did her best not to hold her breath as the front door opened. She wasn't sure what she was expecting to see, or what on earth Basil was going to look like. Francesca didn't know either, so she hadn't even been able to tell her what to expect. Whatever it was she had been anticipating, it certainly wasn't the man who stood before her. He looked thoroughly uptight and bored, as though he was as unhappy to be there as she was. That was slightly relieving, since it meant she wasn't going to have to try hard to impress him. Keira tried to smile as his Mother greeted them cheerfully on the doorstep, but it was evident that she was completely uncomfortable with the entire situation. Francesca had probably told Basilio's Mother that Keira was excited to meet him, so she forced a smile as not to disappoint. "Nice to meet you," She said nonchalantly, trying her hardest to be genuine. How was she supposed to be happy when she was stood in front of the woman who's son she was going to be unhappily married to? If it hadn't been for her, they wouldn't have been in this stupid predicament in the first place. His Mother, and Francesca, were meddling cows. She took Basil's hand, pulling it away at the soonest moment she could without appearing rude. Looking over his shoulder, she spotted through an open door what could only be a bar. Her eyes lit up. Finally! Something that could excite Keira enough to bluff her way through the meeting. It wasn't like she was really going to go through with the marriage. She imagined being married to this man would be about as much fun as a trip to the gynecologist.

Ignoring the jab in the ribs from her sister, Keira smiled as politely as she could. "He can't even speak proper English.." Keira whispered to Francesca, possibly louder than she would have if she thought Basil would know what she was saying. "I'd like a white wine, please." She requested, speaking patronisingly slowly with no concern to the man's feelings. In her opinion, she was simply helping him by not talking too quickly. The whisky did sound tempting, but a manor as big as this had to have a lot of white wine, and Keira was more than happy to take advantage of the Raven's hospitality whilst she was here.

Basilio wasn't even sure what he was supposed to say. Neither of these girls was anything like he would have imagined if he was honest. He hadn't really imagined them to be anything, truth be told, but that didn't mean that he had expected any of this. His mother certainly knew how to pick them, though he believed that this was curtesy of his fathers connections from England. One of them, he had no idea which one, was extremely polite and treated his mother and himself with the appropriate amount of respect and he really admired that. The other one, unfortunately, was rather... abrupt, to put it mildly. He didn't think he would like her very much at all and her dress was something left to be desired. Clearly this girl had absolutely zero desire to be here and he absolutely shared her sentiment. Why arranged marriages were even still a thing was beyond him. Clearly his parents did not trust his judgement as much as his siblings. Amanda was an arranged marriage, that was true, but she had her pick of those brothers. Then of course Ciro had gone travelling to get away from their mother and just happened across a gorgeous mostly single pureblood in a coffee shop one day, he still wasn't sure how he'd wrangled that one. His mother didn't even care that she had kids to a previous marriage, it was "proof of fertility" or something she'd said. Arturo was even going places these days! He'd met some asian pureblood on the train to school and now his mother was planning that wedding as well as Giuliano's. Jeremiah had been a worry for a while, with that Edogawa girl, he had children without being married, but now he was with one of those Nightray kids and his mother was happier for it. Most of the others were too young still, but he was sure his mother had someone lined up for them as well.

Sighing slightly, receiving a neggling glare from his mother, Basil nodded slightly at the two girls and walked over to the bar to retrieve what they requested. "I'm only doing this for you mother, just so that we are clear." For the first girl, he pulled out the bottle of expensive italian whisky. He knew that her family were not exactly rich and so they likely could not afford such extravagance, but he did not mind allowing her a drink of something he'd bought only weeks ago. All of their really expensive wines and drinks were in the cellar below the house. He poured a small glass for her, knowing that it could be a little strong for some and glanced at his mother. She indicated that she wanted some red wine and Basilio nodded, knowing that his dear mother was not feeling terribly well today and proceeded to pour her drink for her as well. He passed it to her quickly and then went back to pouring a glass of white wine for the second sister and offered the drinks together. He then proceeded to pour himself a glass of bourbon and moved out from behind the bar and sat in one of the chairs, discreetly helping his mother into the chair beside him. He then looked at both sisters and smiled between the two. So which was which then? He looked at his mother, but she was busy with her wine and simply shrugged. She was leaving him to fend for himself, hoping he'd warm up to them. He sincerely doubted it. "Which?" Which would he be marrying, he was asking. Though with his pretence of bad english, they could think he was saying anything. This was going to be such fun.

Francesca followed Basilio to the bar and sat down. Her warning glances towards Keira were doing little to improve her sister's attitude, and Francesca was beginning to lose all hope. She wished she could apologise dearly to his Mother, who was probably not feeling particularly optimistic either. Or if she was, she would change her mind when she found out which one of them was supposed to marry her son. "Thank you," Francesca smiled, taking the small glass of whisky Basilio had poured for her. It was thoughtful of him not to fill her glass up all the way. Francesca wasn't a huge drinker, and she remembered this as her first sip scalded her throat on its way down. She stifled a cough, smiling at Basilio. Suddenly, the man asked a question which almost made Francesca turn red in embarrassment. "Oh! I'm sorry, we never introduced ourselves, did we?" Francesca apologised hurriedly, using the moment as an excuse to place her glass of whisky back on the counter of the bar. "I'm Francesca," She explained with a nod, avoiding eye contact with Basilio as she did so. It wasn't that Francesca thought highly of herself, or believed that she was worth more than her sister, but she couldn't help but feel that given the choice of marrying either of them, Keira would not have been the first to spring to mind.

Francesca bit her lip, not wanting to intrude on the conversation but unsure of what to do. "Please could I use the bathroom?" Francesca asked, since she had never been in the Raven Manor before and had no idea where the nearest toilet was. She figured that disappearing to the bathroom for five minutes wouldn't arouse too much suspicion. Keira was going to hate her for leaving her to fend for herself, but Fran didn't have a choice. The two had to warm to each other soon or later, and they were currently colder than a pair of dead Eskimos.

Keira sighed heavily as she followed her sister and future husband to the bar, refusing to focus her attention anywhere except on the glass of wine he was pouring her. The only positive that had come from the situation so far was Basil's incomprehension of the English language. Besides the alcohol, the only thing Keira was going to enjoy tonight was being able to talk about him without him understanding. With that in mind, she turned to Francesca. "He looks like he's got a giant stick up his arse," She whispered, the grin on her face vanishing as her sister ignored her comment. Francesca was always perfect. The two witches were polar opposites, really. Keira was reckless, and thought that living life on the edge was the best way to be. Her ideal night would be spent in a club, dancing with as many men as she could and not caring about the troubles of her every day life. How was she to do that once this Basil bloke married her? Francesca, on the other hand, seemed as though she never had a hair out of place. If she'd ever had a racy thought, it had probably died of loneliness. "I'm Keira," She said simply as her sister introduced herself. She didn't see the point in bothering to be polite, not when she was here against her will anyway.

Keira started to panic as her sister stood up and asked to use the bathroom. "What?" Keira said in disbelief, her surprise quickly turning to annoyance. Now she was going to have to have a conversation with this man, and possibly his Mother, too. She forced a smile, raising her eyebrows and clutching her wine glass for dear life. "Um, so, hello," Keira muttered, trying to imagine Basil with no clothes on to spice things up a bit, but quickly stopping when the wine in her throat started to backflow into her mouth. She supposed he was conventionally attractive, but being forced to marry someone did something to their appearance. "So, what do you do for a living?" She asked, trying to initiate a one sided conversation that she wouldn't have to take part in.

Basilio looked up as his mother quietly asked for something to read. He looked around one of her many books. Given that his mother did not leave the house very often, due to her illness, Basil was not surprised that he didn't need to look very far. He smiled slightly to her and bent down to whisper in her ear. "If you feel worse, tell me. Don't hide it mother." He dropped the book lightly into her lap and kissed her on the cheek lightly and she swatted him away telling him to go and speak to his future wife. Basilio rolled his eyes slightly and received a swat to the behind for groaning. He stared at his mother for a moment before producing the biggest most insincere smile that he could muster and quickly dodged her hand as she swatted at him again. He shook his head as she hmphed and turned her head to her book, pretending to ignore him, though he knew that she would be paying a very close eye to them still. Slowly, making sure to keep an eye on his mother, Basil returned to the conversation at hand. He smiled slightly to the first sister, the one that wasn't so bad. They were both good looking, there was no denying that, but the one that was sitting with him, the one who seemed to be much more polite, there was something about her, the way she held herself. It was really quite attractive. Basil shook his head when she spoke and waited for the introductions. He took a sip of his drink and was more than a little disappointed when he discovered that the one he would be marrying was not the nice one. It was the one who just seemed to like insulting him. This was going to be a very long engagement, indeed.

When Francesca got up to leave, Basil quickly showed her out into the foyer and pointed out the way to the guest bathroom. It was the one that got cleaned first every morning. Now that she had gone, he turned his attention to the girl he was supposed to marry. Not even woman. She was not mature enough to be thought of as such, that was entirely obvious to him already and they'd only just met. That was entirely poor form on her part. "Hello." he replied to her, his deep voice think with his italian accent. If she was going to be a colossal *****, then he was going to make things as difficult as possible. She then asked the most ridiculous question in the world. What did he do for a living? He was a member of a very old and rich pureblooded italian family. What on Earth did she think he did for a living? Turtle wrangling? "Buisness, you?" The family business was not really a topic of discussion. He wasn't about to reveal the inner workings of the company to some half-baked ingrate who couldn't even bow properly to his mother. She was making this harder then it had to be and he wasn't going to help her out of the whole she was digging unless she asked for it and maybe even then. "I really don't want to see how this marriage is going to turn out." He said to himself, taking another drink from his glass before looking back at his apparent bride-to-be. "Where born?" How long he was going to keep up his pretence he wasn't sure, but it was the only thing giving him enjoyment right now, so he was going to milk it for as long as he could.

Keira looked down into her half empty wine glass, her dirty blonde hair falling over her face. She had no intention of making eye contact with this man, whose attitude had so far come across as completely and utterly arrogant. Keira assumed it was a wealth thing; that the money had gotten to his head, blowing his ego out of proportion. She was aware that her own attitude left a lot to be desired, despite the fact the Kendall-White family were not rich in the slightest, but Keira had her own reasons to be rude. It was entirely unfair that Francesca had set her up. Her sister seemed far more suited for the rich and classy life, with the personality and the looks to match. Keira, on the other hand, was never going to hold herself with the right air of sophistication to be considered a lady. She sighed, toying with the idea of the rich life as she took another sip of wine. Endless supplies of alcohol, new clothes whenever she needed them, and a flashy car were just a few of the things Keira could look forward to if she agreed to marry Basil. How bad could it be, really? Perhaps she could put up with the dreary bore that Basil was in exchange for everything she ever wanted. All that was waiting for her at home was a poky flat, bills she and her sister couldn't afford to pay, and a whole lot of housework. The Raven manor was huge, more than large enough to need a few cooks and housemaids. With all of this in mind, Keira finally looked up at Basil, who had returned from showing Francesca to the bathroom, and smiled.

Ignoring the extremely vague and disinterested reply Basil had given to her question, Keira nodded. "That's nice. I'm actually un.. I'm a bartender," Keira said, quickly covering her mistake. It wasn't a complete lie, Keira had done a bit of bar work over the last few weeks, but it had been more of a favour to Jason, the owner of her local pub. It wasn't much, but it sounded marginally better than admitting she was unemployed. She didn't suppose it would matter once they were married. The Raven's were rich enough for her to remain jobless for the rest of her life. "I was born in Ireland," Keira said, "But my sister and I moved to live with our Aunt in New Zealand after our Mum died and our Dad couldn't take care of us. We moved to Italy a few months ago for a change," She explained, not expecting Basil to be remotely interested but feeling it necessary to make polite conversation. After all, she would have to impress Mummy Raven if she wanted to marry into the family. "So, tell me more about yourself. Do you have siblings?" Keira asked, hoping her wouldn't give her a long answer since she quite honestly couldn't care less about his life.

Basilio honestly did not know how this day was going to end. Was he going to strangle Keira perhaps? Would he just drink himself into a stupor and go to sleep? Maybe he would simply fling her out of the top window and pretend she was never here. Surely her sister wouldn't mind too much, she was a b*tch after all. Basilio had to wonder how you could have a Keira and a Francesca in the same family. He only had to speak to Francesca once to know that she was at least a decent person. With Keira, the more she opened her mouth, the more he wanted to forget that she was a woman and slap her across the face. It might have been a harsh thing to say and he would never speak the words aloud or else his mother would hit him, she hit hard for a sickly woman, but it was the most truthful he was being with himself right now. She was a horrible person and he could tell that his mother didn't appreciate it. There would be crashing china very soon after the girls left, he was sure. It wouldn't get him out of this match, but he was definitely grateful that his mother would at least try. He couldn't say the same for his father though, who was most definitely the source of all of his problems. Well, the source of most of them, sixty percent, okay, so maybe only forty percent of the blame could be centered on him, but it was still blame. Taking another sip of his drink, Basilio had to wonder what he had done in a previous life to warrant such treatment in this one. Or even simply as a child. He had usually always been the one that had to pick up the slack his brothers left when they went away. He was honestly surprised he was not the head of the family after everything he had done for it. He was even going to marry this horrible girl if his father so willed it.

Basilio, rather reluctantly, looked at his apparent-future-wife-to-be and listened to her as she spoke, which seemed to be a courtesy she wasn't so willing to share. Not that she would have had much to listen to anyway, his english being apparently bad, according to her. He was only playing the part she expected. Rich Italian, lives on an island, what was she going to think? Still, he was one to get to know a person before forming an opinion. With Keira, however, his opinion had been formed at the door. She was a horrible person and he most certainly, did not, like her. Unfortunately though he had no choice in the matter. His father had picked Keira, so this was just how it had to be. He finished his drink and sat it on the table bench beside him. Bartender was she? Interesting. Basilio had frequented a bar many a time in his life. He gestured to the bar and nodded. "Please, show?" Maybe this would be something they could bond over. Basilio was rather adept at the drink mixing himself, finding some common ground had to be a good thing, right? She finished her narrative about where she was from and Basilio nodded, standing up to walk over to the bar. If she would not make drinks, then he would. He hoped she chose to help, he didn't like her, but he did not wish to hate her completely either. That would just make their life terribly hard. When Keira asked if he had siblings, Basilio laughed a little. Clearly he did, it was rather a stupid question, but, she had asked, so he would answer."Many." He looked at his mother who urged him to go on. "Read?" Did she read? Basilio hoped so, he quite liked reading and perhaps they could share interests in more than on thing?

Keira's Aunt and guardian had told her many a time that lying was wrong, but it was only now that she was beginning to feel the consequences of her actions. He wanted her to show him how she made drinks? Basil clearly knew what he was up to. The only drink Keira could mix was a gin and tonic, which consisted mainly of cheap gin with a quick splash of tonic water. During her night of bartending, Keira had left the complicated mixing to Jason, which meant that all Keira had to do was pull pints of beer whilst flirting with the customers for tips and free drinks. Trying not to let her anxiety over the whole situation show, she shrugged. She'd seen Jason mix drinks hundreds of times. How hard could it really be? She stood up, making her way behind the bar with Basil and choosing a brand new bottle of expensive tequila. She smiled confidently at him, hoping that she could fake her way through this well enough to impress him, and perhaps his Mother too. The idea of impressing this dismal bore of a man seemed crazy, but she had to do it. With one swift movement, she threw the bottle of tequila into the air the way Jason had so often done. Impressively, it spun a few times in the air, but the spectacular display was short lived. As the bottle came down, Keira lost her grip on it, sending it crashing to the marble floor in an explosion of glass and expensive alcohol. "Sh!t!" Keira said in shock as she sprung back, managing to avoid most of the spray.

Keira stood amongst the mess of broken glass, not trusting herself to move, nor to make eye contact with Basil. She certainly didn't dare to look at his Mother. This was all going incredibly wrong. Keira's desperate attempts to impress the family were beginning to backfire irreparably. The shock of the moment fading, Keira remembered how to speak. "Sorry, I'm not used to doing it with full bottles, the weight was different.." She gabbled, clutching at straws as she tried to shift the blame away from herself. "I'll pay for it," She lied, hoping that her act of generosity would make up for her clumsiness, but she knew the bottle was likely worth more than she made in a month. She bent down to help clear up, figuring it was the least she could do to win back his respect. Of course, she had lost Basilio's respect the moment she had walked through the door, but she wasn't aware of this.

Wilfred had been told repeatedly. Do not climb through the vents of the house. He was repeatedly told that it was 'dangerous' and 'irresponsible', but the young boy had been crawling through them since he was able to get into them in the first place - and he has never been more injured than a few bruises and scratches! They were easily healed anyway, and there were so many interesting things going on within the house, how could he be expected to remain in his room when new people were around? Still in his polar bear inspired pyjamas and matching slippers, Wilfred continued on his mission - to meet Basilio's future wife! He was curious. He needed to know this lady before Basilio married her, otherwise he wouldn't know who she was when she would come to family reunions or lunches with their mother. That kind of stuff was very important to him, and so when he passed over the bathroom, and heard the door open, he paused. This was the guest bathroom, they weren't generally allowed to use it. Mummy said it was for guests, and they weren't guests.

Wilfred peaked his head into the room, his eyes just hitting lower than the roof itself. There was a pretty lady there, but fortunately for him she did not seem intent on using the toilet provided, or the shower. She just stared into the mirror. Why was she staring into the mirror like that? He tilted his head slightly, before finding that he had leaned too forward. His centre of gravity shifted most uncomfortably, and he went tumbling out of the roof with a small squeak and landed right behind the woman, sprawled out on the soft mat. He laid there for a moment, groaning slightly, before finally opening his eyes, and jumping up. "Hi!" he cheered loudly, his voice echoing throughout the bathroom during his excitement. "My name's Wilfred, I'm six." He stuck his hand out, and wore a toothy grin. "Are you marrying my brother?"

Francesca smiled gratefully as Basil showed her the way to their guest bathroom. She felt a little guilty for leaving him and Keira alone, especially after the way Keira had behaved, but Francesca couldn't take it any more. For years she'd taken responsibility for her younger sister's actions, taking the consequences on her own shoulders to save her from punishment. Thinking about it, Fran couldn't remember one time she had been thanked for her kindness. As much as she loved her sister, she couldn't be babied forever. It was time for her to stand on her own two feet. Sighing, Francesca pushed open the bathroom door and locked it behind her. She didn't even need to use the toilet; it had simply been an excuse to get away for a few moments. Staring into the huge bathroom mirror, Francesca couldn't help but feel sorry for Basilio. He was a nice man, if a little formal. He deserved better than Keira.

Francesca's thoughts were interrupted by a crashing sound directly behind her. She jumped, spinning on her heel to find a wriggling bundle of white fur on the floor. In shock, she let out a shrill scream, stumbling over to the door and fumbling with the lock. By the time she'd unlocked the door, the bundle of fur had stood up, revealing himself to be a young boy in a polar bear suit. Francesca put her hand on her chest, doubling over as she caught her breath. "You almost gave me a heart attack!" Fran gasped, starting to smile as she realised how cute he was. He must've been Basilio's younger brother. "It's nice to meet you too, Wilfred. I'm Francesca," She said, taking his little hand and shaking it. "I love your pyjamas!" She added, assuming that that's what they were. When he asked if she was marrying his brother, Francesca felt a little rueful. "No, I'm Fran-" She started, but was interrupted by someone at the door.

Basilio was happy when Keira decided that she would take him up on his offer. He was rather good at drink tricks. In his youth, in an endeavour to differentiate himself from his brothers, Basilio had tried a variety of different hobbies to see what he would like or what he would be good at. As it turned out, Basilio was quite good at bar work and had worked in a bar for a just over a year before his mother's hired goons had found him and dragged him back home. Well, that had ended his bartending career, however due to his families love of alcoholic beverages, he had been able to maintain his love of mixing in his own house, well, it wasn't his house, but he lived in it. It still counted. He watched as Keira took the very expensive bottle of tequila. That had cost him more than his weight in gold. It was an exquisite brand and of very excellent quality. It was a one of a kind rare gem of brewing brilliance. Ley .925 Tequila Pasion Azteca Ultra Premium Anejo. Basil had never tried it before and truth be told he was rather looking forward to it. He had no idea how it would taste, but considering how much it was worth, he would never admit to its terrible taste, should it have one. "Nice choice." He wondered what she would show him. Perhaps a drink? A mixing style? A trick? All of these were valid options honestly and he wouldn't have minded any of them. Unfortunately, what he did get, was broken glass, spilled tequila and the sound of an angry turning of a page. The room suddenly went completely silent and Basilio looked down at the mess on the floor near the bar. If it wasn't for the fact that Keira was still here, he would have probably been crying.

To be quite honest, he had absolutely no idea what to say about any of this and he was more than a little confused. He had thought she had said she had worked as a bartender. Perhaps he had misheard and she'd said something else, then he inviting her to the bar had thrown her off and she'd not wanted to look silly. As it turned out though, she was apparently only concerned with the fact that it was not her fault, and was in fact the fault of the bottle. Not saying anything, Basilio looked around him and waved his hands, saying the incantation to clean the mess before turning to Keira and smiling, though it was very clearly not genuine. "One point five million." The price of the single bottle alone would be enough to put her into a couple of mortgages. Not that he would get any enjoyment out of that. Contrary to popular belief he didn't actually believe in seeing people suffer. Without a word, Basilio turned to look at the bar before stooping to pick out one of his inexpensive brands of Vodka. At only just over one hundred and fifty galleons, it was basically a steal. He flipped the bottle over his shoulder, twisting it in this wy and that, one handed as he proceeded to show off in a small display of show offness. It was honestly a trait that they all had, but Basilio seemed to be more in tune with it. He finished the drinks, handed one to Keira and was about to head back to his seat when he heard a scream coming from the bathroom. He looked at his mother, who was staring wide eyes in that direction and motioned for her to stay where she was before bounding out of the room in search of the person he suspected the scream belonged to.

Basilio was about to just rush right in, but stopped when he realised that Francesca might not be decent. He knocked on the door, but upon hearing the tiny, loud, voice of his young brothers, Basilio forgot his etiquette and shoved open the door. "Are you alright?!" He saw what had happened the moment he actually looked around the room. "Wilf, did not mother tell you to not climb in the vents?" Basilio then turned to Francesca. "Okay?"

For the second time in under a minute, Francesca spun on her heel to greet the person behind her. It's a good job I wasn't actually using the toilet, Fran thought as she came face to face with Basilio. There were very few situations she could think of that were more awkward than this one. She tried to imagine what it must have sounded like to Basilio from the bar when she'd screamed in shock. Anyone would have thought there was a murder taking place. Wilfred really shouldn't have been crawling around in the air vents and spying on ladies in the bathroom, but he was just too cute for her to stay mad for any length of time. Francesca blushed as she was asked if she was all right. The gentle concern in Basilio's voice was comforting. "I.. I'm fine, thank you. Your brother made me jump," Francesca stuttered as she attempted to explain the situation. By the sounds of things outside, things weren't going too well with him and Keira. She didn't dare ask him; the look on his face said enough.

Ignoring the fact Wilfred was still standing there in his polar bear pyjamas, Francesca wanted to make the most of their moment alone to apologise. "I'm sorry about Keira. She can be a bit.." She stopped, struggling to find the word to explain. "She's never had a Father figure. She's a good person at heart, I promise," Francesca reassured him quietly, but there was doubt lining her voice. It was hard to call someone a good person when they had been anything but for the last half hour. The whole affair had gone terribly wrong. Keira had promised she would be on her best behaviour, but it was clear that her objection to marrying Basilio outweighed her loyalty to her sister. Basil was a good man; a man of courtesy, looks, and good manner. Agreeing to match him up with Keira had been the most terrible mistake of her life.

Wilfred felt that it was a shame, really. He did not know Keira yet, but so far he had liked Francesca - she didn't yell at him like everyone else always did for crawling through the vents. He continued grinning up at the woman, but his smile filtered slightly as his older brother, Basilio, entered the bathroom in a considerable rush. He jumped slightly at how loud he yelled, before looking at his feet. H made them wiggle to give the effect of the little slippers sniffing, and this made him feel better at the fact that his behaviour was exactly what his mother had told him not to do. She just didn't understand the world like he did. He knew that it was totally useful to go crawling through vents. What did confuse him, however, was that Basilio's English sounded ridiculous. Wilfred himself spoke better than that, and Basilio was so old. "What happened to your tongue?" asked Wilfred, not understanding that this was a trick on Basilio's part. He looked at Francesca. "He usually speaks much better than this." He was trying to help, because not being able to speak English at least half-decently would just be embarrassing.

They quickly began ignoring him, and Wilfred pouted. The little pureblood polarbear looked between them, before stomping his little slipper on the floor and huffing his way out of the bathroom. He was not going to take this level of disrespect from his brother. Nope. The young Raven skipped his way to his mother, passing Keira, and peeped at what his mother was reading. It looked boring. He left her and approached the bar, looking up at Keira. "My brother speaks very good English," he stated clearing, in the best damn English he could muster. "He's been speaking it for over thirty years." He heard his mother begin to shift in her seat, and he ducked as a book went flying at him. Giggling, he rushed out of the room, and back up one of the many vent entrances at the top of the hallway, and began crawling through the house once more. He heard his mother politely lead the girls out of the house, before closing the door and storming off to his father. Many things were thrown within his father's study, mostly by his mother, who was furious at those English girls. Basilio, however, was very quiet and returned to his bedroom.

Wilfred followed, and found his older brother with his head under his pillow, lying there. To get a closer look, he accidentally once again applied too much pressure on the upper half of his body, and went tumbling down onto his bed. He poked his brother in the back, a non-verbal question in the gesture, and so he was told todays events. His eyes widened at their loss. Being of such a young age, he did not drink, nor did he have a very good grasp of the kind of money that had been exchanged for the beverage, but he knew it had a lot of zeros, and Basilio had been so excited about it. And now it was gone, never to be touched again. He petted his brother's back, trying to be supportive. "It's okay," he cooed, now moving up to pet where his brother's head would be. "Just let it out - Mummy said that sometimes, you have to cry to let all the water out, so then you can be happy and be filled with sunshine."

He could have sworn that Basilio snorted. Clearly, it was working.
