Seven years, give or take, Geo had been with James. Life with James had always been fun, and he'd always been her best friend even before they'd become a couple. They'd been through many things together, highs and lows, and somehow they'd made it this far. Geo was currently a step mum to five of his and Maddie's children, for which she'd been incredibly grateful. Of course she'd never be able to replace Maddie in their lives, but she wanted to be there as best she could.
Sometimes Geo thought about her life with Austin, and how happy she'd believed they were at the time although it was never as good as it was with James. She'd been through this particular conversation with Austin too, except this time she was no longer that naive seventeen year old. She'd spent a few days making sure she was certain as to the result of her tests before approaching James, but she couldn't hide it anymore and she couldn't keep such an important thing from her husband and best friend.
"James?" Geo peered into their bedroom. Maybe she was bothering him, but in all honesty his work could wait. This was more important and needed to know what was going on. "James I need to talk to you," it was hard to sound casual when Geo's voice was shaking. Geo didn't want to believe the tests, she didn't want to let herself be too optimistic nor get their hopes up too high.
