Teddy stormed his way down to the lake front. He smashed his fist into a tree, then the other one, he continued it again and again until, eventually, his energy left him and he crumpled against the tree. The boy broke down into sobs, hitting the ground as often as his energy allowed him.

Teddy didn't notice as the red piece of parchment fell to the ground. He didn't want it. It lied, it must lie, there was no way that could be the truth. He would've heard something before hand, right?

Teddy broke down and curled up in a ball, slowly rocking. Tears ran down the poor boys face as he reached out for the letter again and read it through for the, well, who knew how many times he had read it now. It didn't matter, he still couldn't believe it was real.

Mr Theodore Cameron
We regret to inform you that, at 5:52 this morning, Kevin Jason Cameron passed away in St Mungo's hospital after his injuries progressed. He had been in a stable coma for the past week before his vitals crashed. Unfortunately there was nothing we were able to do and we at St Mungo's hospital offer your family our condolences.

Yours sincerely,
The head of medicine at St Mungo's.

The cold wintery air didn't prevent Ava from wearing her short skirt, no, as a compromise she just pulled up a new pair of fashion tights. These tights wouldn't exactly keep her legs from being frozen, but as the saying goes - one that Ava reminds herself of most days - beauty is pain. It's not that cold, was the small reassurance that swirled around her head as she pulled her knitted cardigan closer around her small frame. She could only thank the wool of the Irish for providing such a cardigan, and the flawless service of the owl post that got the parcel to her so promptly. Her steps were slow and steady as she walked down to the lakefront. It was always so beautiful on a day like this one, the sharpness of the air was abrupt but the familiar shine of the New Zealand sun, beamed high in the sky. She found it completely impossible to resist the scenic charm of the lake, besides what else would a Slytherin fourth year have to do as the school term came to a close?

Ava was feeling rather passive, undisturbed, content as she strolled the edge of the lake, there was nothing bothering the teenager. But her blue eyes scanned a person who seemed to be feeling the complete opposite. Normally, Ava would have turned up her nose and walked away, but how this boy was crying led her to believe that it wasn't just some relationship break-up, or a failed exam. Having little to no social skills in that area, Ava was rather reluctant to step closer to the boy who she knew as, Theodore 'Teddy' Cameron. So, she simply stood a couple of feet from her fellow fourth year, staring at him through her aviator sunglasses, as he sobbed endlessly onto his sleeve. A feeling of sorrow began to grow inside of Ava, the normally cold hearted Slytherin was now feeling some sort of emotion towards another human being. The fact that it was for a Hufflepuff, was really the icing on the cake. However, that was not the only thing that surprised Ava, it was the fact that her feet began to move toward the boy, without her conscious consent.

Standing tall above him, thoughts frantically flowed through her head, like smoke passing from a chimney, she couldn't seem to stop and grab hold one of them. Soley resulting in Ava's glossed lip's parting with not a single word spoken. She couldn't even think of a single word to say to the boy whose wall's seemed to fallen down on him. What on earth would be the suitable words to speak to the boy, a boy who she just about glanced at throughout her four years at Hogwarts. "Erm...Teddy?" She asked cautiously, weary of the fact that it wasn't her place to call him by his supposedly nickname nor was it her place to even speak to the boy after ignoring him for all of her Hogwarts life. She ran her cold finger's through her blonde hair quickly, her lips trying to grasp around some word, but failing every time until she eventually jammed her mouth shut. There was no easy way around this other than asking the simple - but stupid - question, "Are you....okay?"

Teddy jumped as his name was spoken. He hadn't expected anyone else to be out here. He looked up at the girl who was asking if he was okay. It took a minute but he recognised her from some of his lessons. He wasn't sure but he thought her name was Ava, there were a lot of girl with blonde hair in their year and, right now, that was almost all he could see of her.

Teddy didn't speak, he didn't trust himself to. If he couldn't stop the tears and the sobbing, how was he supposed to control himself talking when he could barely do that normally? Instead he just threw the letter at her. Of course, since the letter was paper, it didn't exactly reach her and swirled around in the air a couple of times until it landed next to him.

Teddy didn't reach for it, instead he simply continued to wipe away his sobs on his sleeves. If she wanted to know then she would read. He tried to remember what house she was in, or even some thing about her that wasn't her name or hair colour but he couldn't focus his thoughts away from his dad. He hadn't even stopped to think about how Stacy was handling the two girls at home and the other baby due in less than a month.

It was all Ava could do but to stand and stare down at the broken boy through her sunglasses, not helping the awkward situation that was about to unfold for her. As she picked at the chipped black nail varnish on her thumb, she began to realise that all she had thought about was how this was awkward for her, and how uncomfortable she would be when there was a boy sitting in front of hre continuing to sob onto his sleeve. Even though he was a Hufflepuff, it must have been something bad to make him cry this much. She waited for Teddy to say something to her, perhaps a 'go away' or in a perfect world an explantation for all of this. Unfortunately, she didn't get either, what she did get was a failed attempt at receiving a piece of paper.

Her eyes flickered briefly to the Teddy and then at the creased paper and then back at Teddy. She wasn't quite sure wheter or not it would be right of her to read it. But what else could the Slytherin have done? After stumbling over to him, barging into his life she couldn't just leave as quick as she came. That certainly would be wrong. But so would a Slytherin being seen comforting a 'Puff..? came the weary thought, a frame of mind that brought her back to her old days. Still, her reputation was at stake, as much as she matured, her reputation consisted to mean a lot to her. So before bending down to pick up the piece of paper, she took a brief glance over each of her shoulders, scanning her surroundings for certain important faces that may spread this.

Perfectly mastering the art of bending with heels on, Ava smoothly bent over and picked up the crumbled page, her fingers holding a loose grip on it as she realised the true reason to what upsetted this boy. Kevin Jason Cameron could have only been his father and the fact that he just passed away was devestating. A wave of grief and sorrow passed over Ava as she looked at the boy across from her. She was still steadily holding the letter with her nimble fingers not really knowing what else to feel, what to say. She never experienced such a loss in her family. The silence was deafening and so she gently cleared her throat before sitting down on the grass across from him. It was he first time that Ava wasn't cautious about getting grass stains on her clothes, it was the first time that she didn't care about being seen with a Hufflepuff. "I'm..so sorry." Was all that fell from the British girl's lips as her fingers awkwardly traced the corners of the letter, the one that inflicted this pain on the young Hufflepuff.
