Edward enjoyed any opportunity to set a proper example and show off his talents at the same time, especially at something as cheerfully bizarre as a pumpkin regatta. Instead of carving his boat, he had spent his time carefully transfiguring his pumpkin into a pumpkin rowing boat. It had a wide orange hull that was ridged like a pumpkin, with curling green vines sweeping up into decorative patterns along the sides. The oars were large stalks, twisted but sturdy, and the seats inside had been padded with neat little orange cushions. All in all the boat was large enough for four people to fit comfortably, six at a squeeze. He also brought along a flask of pumpkin juice for him and anyone joining him to enjoy while on the water. He added the final details to his pumpkin boat, then stood back proudly. “Now then!” he called brightly, scanning the students still on the shore. “If anyone’s in the mood to row, I am in need of a few crew members." Edward meanwhile intended to sit at the bow as coxswain.

Peregrine felt a little shy being at the pumpkin boat regatta. She was an okay swimmer, but not fantastic, and she was mostly keeping her arts and crafts to herself at this stage, as they weren't great. She fiddled with the hem of her shirt, standing on the shoreline looking between activities a little helplessly. The sound of Professor Pirrip's voice made her start, and her eyes widened at what he'd done with the boat. He was really good at Transfiguration. Made sense, he was the professor after all. And because he was so good at magic, she felt like she wouldn't tip the boat over getting into it. Peregrine had decent arm muscles too, after practicing beater over the holidays. To no avail, sadly, but at least those skills weren't being completely wasted. "I'd like to try, Professor!" she said, pushing down her anxiety to join in with a group. At least it would be comfortable and probably good fun, helped by Professor Pirrip being one of her favourite professors.

ooc: just pretend I do more classes with her than I do

Edward’s face became a delighted grin at Peregrine’s answer, "That’s the spirit Miss Piper. Come aboard and choose your oar." He said, tapping on the side of his pumpkin boat which produced a convenient step to make boarding easier. He had made it easy enough to get into, firstly to accommodate his own bad leg, and secondly he didn't want anyone getting hurt on his watch. "The decorative vines double up as handrails if you need them.” He explained, stepping aside to give her space to board and looking to see if there were any other interested parties by calling out, "Any more for my crew?"

As soon as Knox found out about the pumpkin boat regatta he was super excited to participate because who wouldn't want to float in a giant pumpkin? But carving one out, especially a giant one without magic—because he still hadn't learned anything useful at all—was not quite as fun. When he saw a professor magically transform his pumpkin into something way nicer than any of the other haphazardly carved gourds floating around and called out for a crew to help row out to sea the lake, Knox jumped at the opportunity to float around in luxury. Maybe it was taking the easy way out, but if the Professor was offering why not take advantage? "I'll join!" Knox called out, rushing forward to line up behind an older student. He didn't have this professor for any classes this semester so he wasn't sure what he taught, probably the older years?, but that didn't stop him from climbing onto his ornate pumpkin.
