OOCOut of Character:
Heads up in advance - this thread is going to cover Lucy & Melrose trying to sneak some alcohol at a wedding, but the intended end is for them to fail, we're not going to be portraying underage drinking, no matter how much the characters wish we would :p

Thread takes place during Alice & Elliot's wedding.

After an appropriate time congratulating/tormenting her sister and new brother-in-law Lucy had drifted away, letting them catch up with other friends who were much less important. That left Lucy with a party to explore, and quickly she found herself wishing she had brought a friend - she was alone in a room full of boring grownups who all knew each other, and didn't have anyone her own age to hang out with. She could go bother her other sisters & their dates, she supposed, but... it just wasn't as fun, they were all busy being serious and respectable, like losers.

She had spotted ONE person around her age though, some boy on Elliot's side. A cousin or something - Lucy didn't know or really care, but he was at least a teenager, and therefore way more fun than adults on their best behaviour. She was able to track him down fairly quickly, elbowing the boy in the arm as she slid in to stand next to him. She'd already scoped the room for what looked like the most fun way to spend her time, and the answer had been completely obvious when it came to her. "Hey." She grinned, glancing at the boy mischeviously. "I'm Lucy. Wanna see if we can steal some booze?"

Melrose jumped a foot in the air when someone elbowed him, half expecting to see his dad telling him off for not being social or something. Instead, it was the girl he'd been not to subtly trying to drum up the courage to start talking to and Melrose wasn't sure if he was relieved or not that she'd taken the initiative to talk to him first. On one hand, it meant he didn't have to stand here awkwardly waiting for another relative to talk to, on the other, Lucy, apparently, seemed like she might be a bit much for him.

"Uh. Melrose," he said stiltedly trying to process her next suggestion, glancing around quickly in case someone had overheard her suggestion. "Can we- Can we do that?" He said. He'd never have the guts to do that sort of thing on his own, but Melrose didn't want to admit that out loud, especially with how casually Lucy had suggested it. She probably did cool and exciting things all the time without even thinking about it. She had highlights in her hair and everything.

Lucy was worried for a moment when the boy looked around, but his question proved he at least wasn't a total weenie. "Of course we can! What are they gonna do, kick us out? It's literally my sister's wedding, and if they get mad at you you can just say I'm a bad influence." She grinned, eyeing the table. "I think if we just kind of scoot over when nobody's looking we could dump some red wine in a couple of punch glasses quickly and nobody would notice." She could also ask, honestly - fourteen seemed old enough to be asking her parents if she could try wine, and it was a special occasion, but a heist was much more fun anyway.

Melrose was pretty sure if Lucy told him she could do anything with that tone of voice he'd nod along and do it. As such, he found himself nodding along as Lucy explained an honestly pretty reasonable plan.

"And then what we just... Drink it?" Melrose asked, wishing he didn't always have to sound like such a loser when he opened his mouth, of course they were going to drink it. "I-I mean, should we like, hide or something?" He asked, looking around again for a more suitable spot for this sort of teenage indiscretion. "Maybe out back?" He offered, feeling a bit bolder about the idea with Lucy's attention on him.

Lucy couldn't help a small snort of laughter at the boy's question. "Nah, I thought we'd use it to wash our hair." She grinned. His next suggestion was.... actually pretty good, though. Lucy hadn't really thought that far ahead. "Yeah, perfect! There's gotta be a little like, hidden spot out back nobody'll catch us." She said, scoping out the space. "Maybe we should go case the joint first, figure out our escape route?"
