Riley was in Brightstone again. He was well aware that it was Brightstone weekend, even if he wasnt he would be by now thats for sure. It was full of crazy kids running around everywhere. He had to dodge around them all as he walked, being bumped into every now and then. He laughed to himself as he walked. He liked kids. He was nearly a dad twice but on each occasion the child was killed. That was the main thing that had kick started his change of personality, but that was the past and he was back to his jolly happy loving self and he was feeling a lot better with himself about it too.

He walked over to some fencing across some grass. It was a nice view from here and Riley leant front ways on the fence and looked out. The wind blew gently through his dark hair. He inhaled deeply and took in the smell of spring. Spring had to be his favorite time of year, to was just so nice out all the flowers were coming into bloom and it wasnt too hot like in the summer or even too cold like the winter. It was perfect. He was truly having a good day and felt confident about the rest of it.

Patricia played with her necklace as she made her way through Brightstone. Her smile was wider than it had been for sometime and why should it not? Patricia had just gotten the best news in the form of seeing her step mum and little step brother in a random ice cream place. For the past few months Niccy had been in Russia and Patricia was starting to think she was never going to see the older woman again but seeing that she was back in New Zealand and at home, Patricia couldn't be happier.

Not wanting to return to the castle just yet Patricia decided to wander away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds and go towards the nice green area that she visited very often. As she did so she looked out at the vast green area and her smile softened at the memory of March, the day of her 15th birthday, when Ruki had taken her on a broom-ride. It had been so much fun after she got over been scared. Her eyes dropped a moment as she saw the little blue pendent was still being twirled about in her hands, the very pendant she received from Ruki on that very same day.

Riley was still looking at the view when he heard someone approach. He turned around to see who it was. When he didnt recognize them and stood back up strait although a smile had found its way onto his cute face. He saw a pretty girl before him. Young but pretty. He looked her up and down to decided weather she was worth his time or not. After a quick assessment he decided that she was well worth his time so he walked over to her and smiled. " Hello. Thats a pretty....What ever you are looking at. It brings out your eyes." Of course Riley had know idea what he was talking about but girls seemed to like it when he spoke like this so why would he not. He wondered just how old she actually was, she looked younger than him for sure but that wasnt really very precise in terms of numbers to him

Sorry >.<

Laughing softly at the font memory of the day of her 15th birthday she didn't really notice anyone else beside her. The past year or so had been so hectic for the young Hufflepuff and with her OWLs this year it hadn't gotten any better. So has she leaned against the fence she was glad that she could have time like this to just relax and just think about all the good memories she had and try to forget about the bad ones that for a while were easily out numbering the good ones.

Hearing a movement beside her she lifted her head at the sound of a male voice. "It's a necklace, and thank you. My friend has good taste." she said with a half smile/half smirk on her face. She didn't know if she should laugh at this random boys attempt at an opening sentence for a conversation or to take pity on him. "So how many times have you used that line?" she asked, keeping her calm as she did so. Sure most girls probably liked to be complimented like that but Patricia wasn't like most girls and didn't like the way males just think they can say a cheesy pick up line and the girl would be putty in their hands. It was rather degrading for girls.

Riley laughed and though tfor a second, biting his lip as he did so. He hadnt actually used that line vefore, well from what he could remember he hasnt. " Actually i think your my first time saying that. I must say that your friend has great taste. It suits you very well." He leant against the fence next to her and smiled. " Im Riley by the way. You know just in case your the type that doesnt talk to strangers. Now you know my name im not classed as a stranger." He chuckled as he introduced himself. He got the feeling that this girl wouldnt care much for his flirting so he wasnt going to be as abrupted as he usually was but may just slip something into conversation every now and then for his own humor if not for hers. " So do you have a name or do i need to make one up for you?" He said looking at her with a sweet smile on his face.

Patricia laughed as the boy admitted that he hadn't used that line on anyone else. Should she feel flattered? No! she told herself. “Good, I wouldn’t use it on anyone else if I were you.” she told the boy with a playful wink, she had only just met the boy sure but what kind of Hufflepuff would she be if she didn’t help people out every once in a while, even though she was no good at relationship advice, she knew what girls liked and didn’t like…well for her anyway. As the boy complimented Ruki’s taste she smiled fondly as she cast her eyes on the necklace again. “Thanks. I’ll let him know next time I see him.” She said with a soft laugh.

Turning her body a bit to face the boy Patricia listened to him introduce himself. As she was about to introduce herself she laughed at the boys comment about not really being a stranger now. How many times had she used the line herself to her brother’s friends, oh how they hated when their annoying little sister butted in when their friends were over, whereas she loved it. “Surprisingly yes! My parents were nice enough to grace me with a name at birth.” she said in a playful tone. “Patricia!” she said simply. “Nice to meet you Riley.” she added with a smile. “So what brings you to Brightstone?” she asked, figuring she had nothing else to do so she continued the conversation.

Riley instantly felt his mood drop slightly when she mentioned that the person who had bought her the necklace was a boy. Great so she probably had a boy friend. Now there was a spoiler. He shrugged that feeling off, he couldnt just get up and leave now after introducing his self. Besides this boy may only be a friend after all. He thought about how to answer her question, he himself didnt really know the proper reason for his presence here. He sighed and shrugged. " Patricia, nice name to match you." He smiled slightly. " To be honest i dont even know myself why im here, but im glad i am now though." He said with a laugh, but not so much to make it sound like that much of a joke. " So then forgive me if im being to personal but the boy who gave you the necklace, does he also happen to be your boyfriend?" He asked carefully. He didnt want her to get the wrong impression or anything like that

Patricia kept her eyes on Riley, there was something about him that made Patricia know he wasn't there just for a nice chat but she made sure to not let her guard down. Patricia smiled at the compliment, if he wasn't going to stop then she may as well take them, Merlin knows she never got them from any other boys. Even though Patricia never really had any interest in boys she was getting to that stage in her life where she did happen to notice a few boys here and there, but it was nothing big as of yet. Rolling her eyes as he said he was glad he had come to Brightstone Patricia shook her head. "Now why would that be?" she asked jokingly.

Patricia let her gaze fall off Riley for a few moments as she looked up to the sky, the view from up high was great - something she learned on the broom ride with Ruki. When Riley asked if the boy who gave her the necklace was her boyfriend Patricia quickly said, "No!" Perhaps too quickly. Calm yourself girl, it was only a question. she told herself. Why she had said that so abrubtly was beyond her. "No, me and Ruki are just good friends." she added in a calmer tone, a fond smile on her lips. "Why do you ask?" she questioned him.

Riley laughed as she asked him why he was glad that he had come here. Of course she would have known what he meant, but maybe she wanted him to humour her. He didnt mind, he liked a girl who played hard to get it made things a little more fun and interesting for him. " Well im glad i came here because if i didnt then i wouldnt have met you, and i dont think that this is an opportunity to be missed." He said with a smiled on his cute face. He still stuck with his charming ways, not that he could un stick them if he tried.

Riley looked up as she did. I was a clear day with no clouds in sight. It was warm if not the cool breeze working its way around but that didnt bother him that much, Riley never really felt the cold unless it was stupidly cold. He smiled when she said that the boy wasnt her boyfriend. This meant that she may have been single although from the speed in which she replied she may still have one. " Well i just want to know if the pretty girl in front of me is single for the taking so that i can take her for something to eat with out a boyfriend to get jelous." He said tilting his head to the side slightly waiting for her to answer.

Patricia could swear if she hadn't of seen right through Riley from the start she could very well be blushing right now. He definitely knew how to charm a girl, not a bad thing by far but Patricia didn't like the idea of just being another girl on a line of many. If she were ever to fall for someone she want his words and like to be sincere and like her for who she is and not just how she looks. "It would have been a shame." she said with a sigh...this isn't counted as flirting is it? She asked herself, she hoped not.

When the reason behind why he wanted to know if Ruki was her boyfriend she was quite surprised. They had just met and he was asking to take her for something to eat. Wow! Gotta give this boy credit. She laughed to herself. "Well I have no boyfriend, jealous or otherwise." she told him, her voice was very even not really showing much emotion. Albeit when she thought of the majority of people in her year, her friends, who were all in relationships and loved up whereas she had never even had a crush on someone before she couldn't help but feel a little bit sad at the fact that she had no one to call her own. "So what's this you mentioned about food?" she asked with a laugh, just realising how hungry she was.

Riley frowned to himself. This girl didnt seem very into him. He was used to girls falling for him the second he spoke to them but this girl seemed different. It was strange how the fact that her not being what he was used to kind of made him want her more. He wasnt really used to this type of feeling, it was alien to him almost.

He laughed when she took him up on his offer of food. Of course the more time he spent with her the more time he could sort himself out and these feelings that he could feel under his skin that he wasnt sure if he liked or now. " Well its only if you want to get some thing. Im not forcing you or anything but i will let you choose. The lady always chooses and the guy always pays. Which is why your choosing and im paying." He said with a smile. He was used to paying for girls, it was just who he was that he didnt even really have to think about it anymore he just did it naturally and by manners

Patricia had no idea why Riley was still talking to her, and so clearly trying to flirt. Wasn't it obvious that she wasn't interesting? Oh well Patricia was a Hufflepuff and she always believed in giving everyone a chance. Perhaps it was just in his nature to be flirtatious so why judge him on something that he maybe couldn't help. Listening to him talk Patricia couldn't help but roll her eyes at the comment about the guys always pays. Patricia was a fairly independant girl and she was proud of it, and as such she wouldn't normally stand for that kind of comment but it wasn't one that came often so she said, "No, I'm hungry. How's The Three Brommsticks sound?" she asked, it was a pretty populr place but it did serve some of the best food round Brightstone.

Riley smiled widely and nodded. " Ok then the three broomsticks it is." He laughed and neaded in that direction. He was really starting to like this girl. She seemed different and he could really start to like her more, after het got to know her first of couse. " So im guessing your in school. What year are you in then?" He turned to her as he asked politely. He had notuced that she didnt really respond to his charm so he would swtch it off, for now anyway.
(sorry its not that good my mind has gone blank)

Mine aren't too good either >.<

Smiling as Riley agreed to The Three Broomsticks Patricia followed him as he made his way towards the establishment. Patricia was hoping that this wouldn't be too awkward or anything, but if Riley kept trying to flirt with her she would probably cut the meal short. As the two walked back into the main part of the Village and towards The Three Broomsticks Patricia lifted her head a bit to look at Riley as he talked to her. "Yep! I'm in 5th Year up at Hogwarts." she said, tilting her head in the direction of the school. "I haven't seen you about so I take it you're out of school or you go somewhere else?" she asked in return.

Riley listned as she spoke. She said that she was a 5th year which would make her around 15 or 16. A bit younger that his usual type but he could at least get to know her first. He shrugged in answer to her question. " You shouldnt recognize me. I went to Hogwarts Scotland but i have left now so im free of that place." He said with a slight chuckle. He had liked school but he liked being out in the real world more, it meant that he didnt have to live with his dad anymore. He hated his dad nearly more than he hated Theo.

When he arrived outside of the Three Broomsticks he opened the door and held it open for Patricia. " Ladies first." He said glancing inside. It seemed quite crowded, but not too much. It was kind of cozy and warm inside so it should be a problem for him.

Patricia figured as much when Riley told her that he had attended Hogwarts in Scotland. Why Patricia didn't get accepted there she'd never know. It was so much closer to her home but then again she wasn't the only one who was attending or had attended HNZ that lived far away from New Zealand itself. Although, Patricia wasn't complaining, she was glad that she had that she had the opportunity to attend HNZ. If she hadn't she would never have made the same friends that she held dear today and she would never have found out about her family, although if Hades had anything to do with it he probably would have tracked her down somehow.

Patricia laughed softly at the idea of her brother actually tracking her down, it was something that he would do. "You sound like you're glad to be away from school. Did you not like it?" she asked. As they approaced The Three Broomsticks Patricia smiled kindly at Riley as he opened the door for her, "Thank you." she said as she went on in. Standing on her tip toes she scanned the fairly busy bar until she saw an empty table. "Over here." she said as she made her way to the empty table that she saw.

Riley followed Pat over to the empty table. He sat down by the wall and shrugged. It wasnt that he didnt like school its just that he liked being his own man in the world more. " No i did like school dont get me wrong but i just prefer being my own person in the big wide world more. And not to mentioni dont live with my family anymore so thats a good thing." He didnt really want to say anything about his family yet, maybe if he got to know her a little more but not yet.

He picked up a menu and looked at it quickly and then handed it to Pat. He would just have what she would have, he wasnt too fussy about what he ate. " You can have anything you like." He said with a smile. He wasnt going to flirt anymore, she may just leave him stranded if he carried on.

(Sorry i used the wrong characted.)

As Patricia took her seat she let out a small sigh as she relaxed herself. Patricia wasn’t one to let stress overcome her but after the conversation she had with Niccy and with her OWLs this year she was becoming more and more anxious as the Holidays approached, it was sure to be interesting. Propping her elbows in the table in front of her Patricia rested her chin on the palm on her hand as she listened to Riley. “Fair enough!” she replied, she had to admit she was looking forward to getting out into the big bad world herself, but for now she was happy with what she had. At his comment about his family Patricia scoffed lightly, “At least you only have one family to live with.” she said, not that that would be the case for her for much long.

When Riley handed her the menu she thanked him and had a quick glance at it. She had been here often enough to know what she liked and what she didn’t like. Although when she visited a place often enough she would get into the habit of ordering the same thing over and over again…which was why she wouldn’t go out too often as she knew she would soon get sick of the food that she ate. As the waiter came over Patricia placed the menu back down on the table and looked up the waiter, reciting her order, “Burger and chips with a chocolate milkshake please.” she said, opting for a cool refreshing milkshake instead of her usual butterbeer on the lovely day. “What about you Riley?” she asked, turning her direction back to him again.

Riley chuckled and shook his head to the comment that she made about his family. She had no idea about them and what they have done. His dad who was believed to have killed both of his wives, one being Rileys mum. His big brother Theo being back in town which spelt bed news to everybody. He was a murdering person who wouldnt hesitate in beating someone or worse. Riley had not so recently gone through a tough spot also which resulted in a death of a person. Alexia seemed to be the only living Smith that was good. He knew that would probably change. " Trust me Pat. You dont know my family. I would rarther live on the streets then live with them. They are dangerous people." He sighed, not going to say to much about them.

When the waiter came and Pat ordered he shrugged. " Il have the same as her Please. Thanks." He said with a smile and handing the menu to him. He looked back at Pat with a smile. " If you have a family or even a family member that loves you then you already have more than me. Count yourself lucky." He said tghen thinking that he should change the topic. " So what do you want to do when you leave school?"

Patricia frowned noticeably as Riley voiced how strong his dislike was towards his family. Patricia felt sorry for him, it probably wasn't an easy thing, not getting on with your family like that. What's even worse, Riley said they were dangerous people, Patricia hoped that he had never been put into danger before. It was common for Pat to react like to anyone but it was even more so to people she considered a friend.

Patricia watched the waiter go off before she turned her attention back to Riley. His words hit a soft spot with her. Patricia was lucky! She had two families who both loved her, one so much that they wanted to adopt her into the family permanently. It was something Patricia never thought she would happened especially after the first day the she had met Niccy, the woman who was about to become her mother - life was full of surprises. She nodded her head lightly as he said that she should count herself lucky. When he brought up a change of subject Patricia took the opening eagerly. "Um, well. I want to be a Healer when I leave. My step mother's one and she said she could help train me. Although after a while I'd like to return to Hogwarts and become a Professor." she said, more than happy with her choice of a career path.

Riley nodded as he listened to her speak about what she wanted to be. He wanted to be a professor as well but he knew he wouldnt keep up with the work load if he was a main one. He would rarther be a quidditch one as they dont teach as much. " Well that sounds like a good job. Im roommates with a professor from Hogwarts. Cyndi, i think she teaches ancient ruins or something. I carnt really remember fully." He said with a shrug. He could remember a time when he had a crush on her but he soon went off her again. She wasnt really his type.

He smiled as the food arrived. " Thaks." He said to the waiter. He popped a chip in his mouth and smiled again when he finished it. " The food it pretty good in here isnt it. So what do you have planned for the holidays?" He said curiously. If she didnt have much planned then he could maybe meet with her again and they could become friends, if that was what she wanted of course

Patricia was surprised when Riley told her that he was a room-mate with Professor Weasley. "Oh really?! Yeah she teaches Ancient Runes, I adore the subject. She's a great Professor too." she said. Patricia really admired Professor Weasley, she had become a Professor so soon after she had graduated and she was really good at it. Patricia often worried how she never knew what she wanted to do when she left Hogwarts, until recently that was, and a lot of other people seemed to know what they wanted to do from a young age. Then again she didn't have to worry about that now.

Thanking the waiter for the food Patricia realised just how hungry she was. Patricia smiled at how good the food smelled. Popping a few chips in her mouth she ate them hungrily. Sipping her milkshake she nodded in agreement with Riley, the food here was great. At the mention of the holidays Patricia's insides knotted. "Um.." she said as she put her drink back on the table. "Spend time with family!... I have a friends wedding.... Getting adopted.... Working. The usual." she said, pretty much saying everything.

Riley smiled widely. " Yeah she is a good person. I wouldnt know about the teaching side to it but i like her." He ate another chip before taking a bite of the burger. He took in the taste then swallowed it. He loved his food and he was a great cook, something he got from his mum. " Wow sounds like you are pretty stacked out then. You know if you ever get a free minute we should do this again sometime." He hoped she would pick up on the whole second date side to it. He really liked her and for once he didnt care if she wasnt old enough to do the one thing he only really liked girls for, he seemed to like her that much. How odd. He smiled to himself as he thought about that. Funny how he had changed so much in such a short space of time, if he had been on the outside then he wouldnt have even recognized himself.

Patricia took a bite out of her burger as she listened to Riley. She nodded in agreement, Cyndi really was a really nice woman. After Patricia had mentioned everything to Riley about what she would be doing during the holidays she felt her insides knot, it was going to be a hectic holiday that's for sure. Then again, there really was only one thing Patricia had to worry about and she was so sure now that it was what she wanted that she only hoped her mother would see sense. When Riley said he would like to meet up again Patricia nodded. After he turned of his charm and was just himself Patricia really like Riley, he seemed like a good person. "I'd like that." she replied. "What are you doing during the holidays?" she asked, maybe they could find sometime to suit the both of them.

Riley smiled when she agreed to meet with him again. This was just what he wanted and it gave him another chance to be with her, maybe ask her out. He shrugged . He didnt really have much planned for this holiday, just Jasons wedding really. " Nothing much i have to go to my best friends wedding as his best man but thats about it. If you had something you wanted to do in mind then just say and we could do that." He said with a smile on his face. Riley wasnt really fussy about what he did, as long as he liked the company he was around. " So who is your weddding for? Anyone special?" He was a little curious now, he wasnt planning on getting marriade any time soon but he liked to hear about them and congratulate people on them. Adele was nice and he did love her but he wouldnt marry her so soon though, maybe after a few years or something but not now.
