Tess had really done less than perfectly on her exams primarily due to her focus in more interesting fields than those dictated by the curriculum. Having been previously home schooled by her parents it lead Tess to struggle in a classroom environment. As smart as she knew she was it was hard for her to learn the way Hogwarts expected her to be able to - especially in things that she didn't understand how they worked. Knowing how to perform a spell was all well and good but not knowing how was what lead her to struggle in the actual execution of it and so Tess decided to go to the library. Perhaps there she would find the answers she was looking for even if all she really wanted to do was go for a flight. The Hufflepuff took out some parchment, a quill and some of her books as she began to read and make notes on things she thought would help her understand but the girl had a look of bewilderment on her face. She felt utterly and completely overwhelmed by the task of it all and wondered if she would ever actually know how to perform all the magic the professors all seemed so natural at. Tess doubted it seriously as she put her head in her hand, still reading but somehow not retaining the information.

Flavio detoured to the library after class to complete some of his readings for charms, thinking that getting ahead early would make his exams easier. But as he walked around, attempting and failing to find a table that was free he began to think that reading ahead somewhere quiet was a lost cause no matter how beneficial it would be in the long run. However he continued his task and soon spotted a table occupied by one person, quickly walking over to it. Keeping his books in his arms and a mindset that the person sitting might not want to be disturbed, Flavio cleared his throat and politely said "Hello. Is it okay if I study here? Everywhere else is taken." It was only after he had spoken that he realized the girl sitting was one in his year named Tesla. He had met her a couple of times but did not now her very well. Though Rory had said to him Tesla was a cannibal, he had always assumed that wasn't true and that she was kind because she was in Hufflepuff. He hoped that she would be kind to him that day and allow him to study at her table as otherwise he would be forced to return to his common room that was always filled with distractions. ​
