Just a place holder... Because I am a lazy shlarp and suck at introductory letters. Sorry Pat :p

Charles was glad to be back at Durmstrang, not for his love of the place but because it was his final year and while it was going to be a hard year it meant his was only a few months off Graduating which meant he could start his career as a Professional Quidditch Player, something he had been looking forward to for a good number of years now. This year was already starting to look up for him as he was named Quidditch Captain, something that he had been working up too for some time now and had been told was his as soon as his old Captain had left the school. He felt a bit sad that no sooner had he received the title that he would have to give it up as soon as he graduated. He had also been named Prefect but academics had never been something that he cared an awful lot about. Sure he was good at it and maintained high grades in his classes but he knew that he would never really need any academic qualifications for the career he wanted to go into come the summer holidays when he had graduated. The past holidays had been one of the best he had had in quite a while after he had travelled to New Zealand and had an interview type thing with two of the players from the Thunderella Thunderers; one of the teams he was considering for a future career in. He had felt that it had went well and he had even found a nice apartment for himself when everything was made more official, but for now he was still looking at other possibilities.

Another thing that had happened him during the holidays was being made to interact with the players, who had interviewed him, younger sister – who happened to be the same age as him. Charles was never too keen on meeting new people that he had no interest in meeting but figuring that this would get him in good with the two ladies who could possibly get him in on the team he went with it. At first she was hard to talk too, something about having just broken up with her long term boyfriend. Although after talking for a bit and meeting up a few times throughout the holidays Charles had grown to like the girl, she had cheered up considerably with time and became a more bearable person to talk too. Agreeing to keep in contact Charles found himself with a free afternoon and started to write a letter to Luna before sending it off with his owl.

Hi Luna.

As promised, one letter. So how are you? I hope the rest of your holidays went well, sorry about having to leave early but father insisted that I get home and get ready for school – something about this year being important. I really don’t think he knows what he is talking about as I’m pretty sure I don’t need to know how to plant any form of plants when I’m in the air playing Quidditch. I never asked, what are you planning on doing after you finish school? So how’ve you settled back into the routine of school again? No sooner had I got here that I was planning Quidditch try-outs; I made Quiddtich Captain. Also got Prefect but that is not of major importance to me.

Hope this finds you well,
Charles.

Luna was oddly eager to be back at Hogwarts, not that she had ever really hated school. It was more that after the way she had felt at the end of the last year, crushed when Angus had broken up with her out of nowhere because he had felt like he was missing out on playing the field having stayed with her for so long. Probably brought on by the quickly approaching close of their school years. But the Holidays had cheered the young woman up considerably. She supposed the phrase out of sight out of mind spoke truth in volumes. Between helping her best friend Patricia Styx move in with her and getting used to the cohabitation; though Pat was an extremely good roommate and Luna hoped Pat would think the same about her. The two had went on a slightly stressful but fun adventure of Remodeling the flat; which even with magic was insanely difficult more due to differentiating tastes than anything else. At the summers end while she was not completely over him, the couple had been together for nearly four years after all. She felt a lot more confident about having to face him in the following year.

Another factor in her holidays had been the sudden appearance of a man named Charles Fera. He had came to her sisters in hopes for a shot at a spot on their team and the two, being over meddling and annoyingly persistent as they always were when put together with a goal had insisted that she be introduced to the man. Something she really hadn't wanted and he hadn't either. She knew he was only going along with it to get an in with the twins; she wasn't stupid. But she figured as long as they were under the thumb of her sisters she might as well make it more bearable for the both of them; keeping her true feelings locked up under a thin mask of happiness. That over the next few months became thicker and thicker. Before shattering to reveal she actually was happy again. Two two had continued to talk and such after the twins had let up on her, finding the genuinely seemed to like one anothers company. She had no interest in him romantically but he was fun to be around.

Luna watched as an owl seemed to soar towards her window and she quickly opened it before the owl crashed through as it seemed to have no intentions of stopping. She watched as it made the top of her bed a perch. She noticed a letter from Charles and shoved her bookmark back in place, getting a letter down as to not keep the owl waiting.

Hi Charles,

This letter was a nice break in what has been a monotone day; though I do have a question about your owl. Does it try to fly into windows often? Had I not seen it coming I may have had to scrape it off of mine. Aside from the near death incident of it just then I've been doing rather splendidly. My schoolwork is harder than ever of course and it's strange to not have my roommate anymore. But the year has been drama free; a rarity around this place I swear. It's fine that you had to head back up to the frozen north. I was rather busy the last few weeks anyways gathering up my last round of school supplies. Didn't get head girl but I'm fine with that; hate speeches anyways. So you got quidditch captain? I bet you're happy about that. Also don't neglect Herbology, Kailey actually did get a nasty variant of a Venus Fly Trap thrown at her mid game; weirdest player ever though...

I really have no idea what I want to do after I graduate, which I suppose is quite bad. Possibly start up a shop of some sort when I have the money; but what to do in the mean time is the issue for me. I hope you do well with your goal of Quidditch player; if not with the Thunderers then with someone else. Though Kailey and Trista liked you a lot; something tells me you'll make it to the main tryouts in December. Would say more but I've never actually seen you play.

Hope your owl doesn't crash into your window with this thing,
Luna Paramore.

Hey Luna,

I’m glad my letter was able to help you even just a bit, I know these days can all feel like they are rolling into one and unfortunately the first semester has barely even started. Ah old Isis is well, old, I suppose you could put it. He didn’t crash into the window at least. He is a family owl and when I sent your letter he had just done a trip to Durmstrang from home so I suppose he was tired after making his trip to New Zealand, silly old bird probably didn’t take a rest during any of it’s trips. Ha! It’s sleeping now, you’re letter may have to wait a while it seems. I should really get mother and father to get a new, younger owl soon or we may be losing a few letters soon if Isis gives up on us mid journey.

Schoolwork is harder than ever all over it seems, the joys of NEWT year. Honestly, I thought that was just a myth used to scare the younger students but I guess not. School shopping, I’m sure that was loads of fun. I was lucky that my nanny gathered everything I needed while I was in New Zealand, I just had to get my new robes fitted when I got back but that didn’t take too long. It was a shame though that I had to leave early, we never did get that last round of house hunting it. Maybe during the Christmas break I could come back and I we can look at a few more places? Still didn’t decide on anyone place that I wanted to live, there was a lot of good choices. If you want to that is, you of course may be too busy but if not I would greatly enjoy your company again.

Ouch! I remember that game, really hard to forget actually. Alright then, good point, maybe I should listen a bit more in class. Although the player got what was coming to them, thankfully.

I’m sure you’ll think of something with time, I think it’s not fair for us to have to be made to decide what we want to do with the rest of our lives at such a young age, when really down the line we could end up regretting it. Thank you Luna! I really appreciate that! I would love to get into the main try-outs and it also gives me more of an excuse to come back during the Christmas holidays. We also should change that, you should come to the try outs, they are loads of fun. Very intense but it’s all good fun really. Do you play Quidditch yourself? With two sisters like Kailey and Trista I’m sure it does but correct me if I’m wrong.

Hope the wait isn’t too long,
Charles.
