After following Mylie Thoreau after he managed to find out that the girl was his sister but he did not even know how that was because of how different she was. She was strange, and very cold. Not exactly the same as Amycus, but maybe that Metamorphmagus ability made someone like that or something. Zayne was not too sure at all, but he was following the older girl down the street. He wanted to meet his mother, and he did not even tell Keyne what he was doing. His step-mother had been evil to him, and he had been dying to meet his mother. So many questions ran through his head, and he wondered what she was like. Would she even recognize Zayne after so many years? Would he look anything like her? Zayne had so many questions. People that knew him and his father said that he acted a lot like him only he was more serious than Keyne was when Kayne was Zayne's age. Zayne saw Mylie approach an older lady, and he looked at the taller brunette, before he was suddenly overwhelmed with fear of meeting his mother. What if she did not even like him? Zayne was terrified. He was a Slytherin, and what if his other had a hatred for Slytherins? Was that why she divorced Keyne Baros to begin with? Zayne let out a sigh. She looked beautiful though. Zayne slowly approached the two women, before he looked at Mylie, before he averted his eyes and then went to the older woman. He was speechless. He could not say anything because he was frozen. He had approached the woman that he had long since believed that had abandoned him and Keyne.

He did not know anything about the divorce, but all he knew, there was only one parental figure in his life, and he looked at Leilani, not even knowing her name, before he murmured, "Miss Thoreau?" He did not even have the heart to call her mom, because he was wanting to see if she would even recognize him, at all. He hoped that she would because he had been nervous for a long time about this. Zayne was a third year now, and it was about time that he met his birth mother, and Keyne did not even know about Zayne coming out here and meeting the one that gave birth to him. The young Slytherin did not want to show his nervousness, and wanted to just look as expressionless, which surprisingly, he was doing right now.

<COLOR color="#000">Leilani's soft cocoa brown eyes scanned out the window for any sign of her youngest daughter Mylie. Mylie had promised that she would be right back but she had been gone for some time now. It was their weekend out. Leilani had no work and Mylie had no school. It was rare these days to be able to spend time with her children, let alone the hardest to reach of the three. Since it was decided that Leilani was going to divorce her husband and she sent in for the papers, there seemed to be more time now than ever. This made her happy. Her children weren't afraid to live with her anymore. They didn't feel uncomfortable being in her presence. Leilani felt better too. Even if it was a bit lonely at the lost she was staying, she made the best of it. Currently she was saving up for her own house, one big enough so that Mylie and she could live comfortably. Amycus and Zayne still remained with their father so she wasn't sure if she needed to get rooms enough to suit them too. Even to this day Leilani had yet to see her son again. If Keyne could see his daughters again why wasn't she able to see her baby boy? Her youngest? Leilani didn't tell her children that something had happened between her and Keyne again. She didn't want to get their hopes up in case they ended up fighting again. The girls already bugged Leilani relentlessly when it came to their father and her getting back together. They seemed to forget that he was also still married on top of all that was going on. They were still young so there was still a lot they didn't know. One day they would know. Through the window, Leilani's eyes finally caught a glimpse of her daughter pushing her way through a mass of people. It was easy for her to tell that by the look on Mylie's face, that she was trying to get away from something, or someone to be more specific. Leilani shook her head twice before she turned to put away the book she was looking through.

"Where have you been ku'uipo?" Leilani asked softly as she opened another cookbook with her index finger. The name she had called had meant sweetheart in their native tongue. All of her children were called by that name. Something was mumbled by Mylie and Leilani turned her head to tell Mylie she needed to speak up if she wanted to be heard by anyone but a boy temporarily forced her to forget about scolding her daughter. The boy had spoken so formally that it had taken her by surprise. But as she turned around to see who it was that addressed her, she instantly knew who it was. Or thought she knew who it was. He looked liked her. But only much younger, he was a male, and he had the loveliest blue eyes. Leilani's throat became full with hair and she abandoned the book she had eyeing. "Zayne? Sweetheart is that you?" Leilani lowered herself down so she was at eye level with him. He was already tall for his age it seemed. Leilani was not sure if she wanted, or was not sure if he would allow her to hug him.

Zayne looked over at Mylie before he uttered the tiniest of apologies for having to follow her like a creep. The idea had come to mind when he saw some guy following her, even though the guy seemed to remind him an awful lot like Kaia's brother, but he figured that he had shorter hair. But alas, here he was, standing in front of his mother praying that she would recognize him. What if she had not? He did not know what he would, Probably run back to his dad, and then hide away for all eternity, hating his blood type and turning into some sort of monster that not even his own mother would even want. He had learned that Mylie was his sister, and that alone was a shock, because she was one year older than him, a Hufflepuff, and there was something cold in her or something, and Zayne didn't think that Amycus was like that at all, or even his own parents. He hoped that their parents would not be some mean person that he would regret ever meeting. Did his mother even want to see him again? After all, in his eyes, she abandoned him. The moment that Leilani had addressed him by his name and then asked if it was truly him, his bright silver eyes went to the ground before he shifted where he stood. Could he even call her mom after this was the first time that he could even remember meeting her? He stared into her eyes before he mustered up, "Yes, it is I." He was so hesitant, like he was afraid to hug her seeing as she might reject him. However she called him sweetheart, so there might have been some sort of appreciation. The only one that showed him any affection was his dad, so one would see that getting hugs and kisses by older women were out of the question.

Zayne finally let out a sigh, and gave in to the instincts that were telling him what he needed to do. He wrapped his arms around her middle and he hugged his mother for the first time in his life. Well, as far as he could remember. He did not really know what to say or do, he was just glad that he had reunited with his mother, and wanted nothing more but to never have to leave her again. He didn't know how, but he already loved her, even by the nice things that his dad had said about her. Zayne took a step back before he ran his fingers through his hair. Perhaps now was the time to ask. Ask if she ever wanted to leave him when she had left Keyne. Zayne looked up at her, and he inquired softly, "Did you want to leave, back when you divorced dad? Why didn't you ever visit?" Things were not that simple, even though in his mind everything could have been simple. Zayne let out a sigh, and he looked down at the ground. He wanted this to have been a good meeting, but things were not always that simple. He had a million questions to ask of her, and he wanted answers for them all. But bombarding her with them all would not be the smartest thing in the world either. Zayne stood there, avoiding eye contact with both his mother and Mylie, until he got the answer to his question.

<COLOR color="#000">Leilani was unable to contain the mother within. Her heart swelled because she was finally able to see her baby boy. He was no longer a baby though. He was a young man, he looked so much older than she imagined him to. Her arms wrapped around his smaller figure to bring him into a tight motherly hug. It felt so good to finally see her youngest baby again. Her life had a missing piece in it where Zayne's presence fit completely. "You have gotten so big!" Leilani moved her hands to his face where she inspected his face. He looked more like her than he looked like his father. Mylie and Amycus portrayed their father through and through. It was nice to have one of her children share her looks a little bit. Though Keyne wasn't too bad looking so it would not be a travesty if he looked like his father either. After a moment of looking at her son and taking in all that he was. Leilani felt content and leaned down to kiss him on the top of his head. She had missed him so much. Her arms could scarcely comply with her when she wanted to let him go. What if she never saw him again? It would break her heart. "Sweetheart I didn't want to leave you behind at all. But at the time I didn't think I could live with your father anymore. I thought- that your father needed you. So I let you stay with him." Even if Leilani had been disgusted with Keyne at the time, she didn't hate him enough to desire taking everything from him. So she let Keyne's only son remain with him. To keep him company and allow him to have someone to care for. Leilani was figuring back then that no woman woman would want a man as immature and childish as he was. It would appear that she was so very wrong about that though. Leilani wrapped her arm around her son again and pulled him close to her again. It felt nice to have him be close. He looked healthy but Leilani could not help but feel worried that he was unhappy. There was a look in his silvery eyes that she did not feel comfortable with. Leilani did not want to jump to conclusions but she quickly wanted to go and blame Keyne's wife for her son's possible unhappiness. Leilani was able to catch Mylie giving the two of them a sour look and Leilani pulled her daughter close to her too. That way she could hug Mylie had a hard time getting the love she deserved so Leilani never denied the chance to love on her. Leilani figured that Zayne had already met Amycus formally. But whether or not he and Mylie had ever met was past her. Leilani eventually released her children but continued gazing down at her son. What was he thinking of right now? Zayne appeared to be frightfully on the shy side. All her children seemed to be rather on the quiet side. It did not make sense because neither of their parents were quiet and reserved at their age. Leilani breathed coarsely and push back some of the darkened brown hair that flew wildly around her cheeks.

Zayne had one last question his mother refused to answer for a moment. The reasoning behind her not coming to visit him was very complicated. Zayne was still very young himself so she was not sure of him having the ability to understand. There was chemistry between her and Keyne that she was afraid would resurface. Then there was his wife. Leilani did not want to step bounds with the woman he had fallen in love with. That would be too cruel of her to do. Keyne was no longer hers so if the woman desired for her to stay away then it would be in her best interest to stay away and mind her own business. "I wanted to visit you. But things between your father and I are complicated." Leilani did not know if he was going to ask what she meant by complicated. If he did not understand the adult mind then he was not going to understand what she meant. Leilani prayed that her son would not be furious at her for never visiting.

Zayne looked up at his mother, and wished that there was more time in the world to spend with her, but he truly thought that it was unfair to him and his sisters that they had to be separated for so long because to him, his family were rather selfish, but he hoped that things would end up changing. He did not want to have to deal with his step-mother anymore, but he was sure that he would not get the happy family that he wanted. Though one of these days, he was going to have his family back eventually. The moment that his mother told him that he had gotten older, Zayne looked up at her and remembered who she was before he eventually did not say a word. He was a teenager now, and she had missed out on seeing him grow up and everything like that. He quickly looked down before he shook his head. At least he knew where his looks came from, and they were his mother's, through and through. His dark hair, though because of his silver eyes, he did not know where he had gotten them from. Or who for that matter. And who knew what color eyes that Mylie truly had, but Zayne did not think about that too much. When he heard that she did not want to leave him, it did not change the fact that she had, but Zayne could understand though. He simply nodded before he shifted in his spot, looking down at the ground once more. Zayne tensed up naturally when his mother put her arm around him and pulling him close, but soon he relaxed. He looked over toward his older sister before he wondered what she thought about all this. If she felt alone or something. She had been the only one as far as he knew that had not found the other parent. Zayne attempted to hide everything that he was feeling, trying to appear like this empty shell of a lad that he was when he was around Suzanne, but his eyes still looked about as sad as the next orphan. Zayne was not an orphan though, he had a mother and a father.

The Slytherin boy also had two sisters, so he was not alone in this world at all. He had a large family, but it happened to be broken right now. It was split in half, but there might be a way to bring the family back together, but to make up for lost time would be a hard thing to do. He could definitely try though. Zayne did not notice Mylie giving them a sour look, but Leilani had pulled the older Hufflepuff girl to her, and Zayne looked down with uncertainty. He did not know what to think about Mylie, to be truthful. There was something about her that kind of threw him off a bit. He ignored it for the most part. Soon he was released, and Zayne looked back up at the woman that had given birth to him, and as hard as it was, Zayne was still thinking that she was a stranger. A stranger that he was already bonding with so quickly, perhaps that is what a mother's bond did, something that soon and so fast too. He did not want to lose his mother at all. He did not think that he could bare to lose her actually. Zayne listened to her reasoning, and it just wasn't good enough. Zayne wanted something more than just things were complicated, that is exactly what his father said too. Things were always complicated. Zayne stated, "You could have at least wrote or something. Dad said the same thing, things are always complicated, but it is still no excuse." His Slytherin side was coming out, but he looked down and let out a sigh. "I don't know if I can ever forgive and forget, but I suppose, there would be time to make up for it. The past is the past, and I hope that the two of you would get over your issues or whatever, and actually let one side see the other. It is only fair to us." With his hand, he gestured toward Mylie and himself, even if she did not care, it was just something that he would want. He wanted to spend time with both his mom and dad, is that all a teenager could ask for?

Leilani was still having a hard time believing that this was her baby boy in front of her. It seemed like just yesterday she had given birth to him, and now he looked so grown up. Smoothing his hair Leilani tried to find the best way to sum up what the issue was between she and Keyne. It was hard to tell her children because she wasn't fully sure how to make it easier for them to understand. They were all too young. A minute or so passed before Leilani kissed the top of Zayne's head again and tried to comfort him. ”When you're much older, you'll understand. Your father and I have made a lot of mistakes in the past. We regret separating you all so much. We're trying to fix this little family of ours, but it's going to take some time.” Leilani told Zayne as she stared around her. Keyne wasn't around was he? There was so much she wished she could just tell her children. There were things she wished she could tell Keyne as well. But there was lines she couldn't cross right now. As Keyne had a wife. Leilani had never met her but Amycus had written her a couple of times describing the weird behavior of the woman. It would seem as if the woman wanted nothing to do with Keyne's children and only wanted the attention onto her. Did Zayne know anything about this? Even if Leilani was jealous, she knew she had little right to be. She was the one who had let her son go, and Keyne go. He had a right to be happy with whomever he wanted. Just because her marriage wasn't working out didn't mean his needed to suffer too. Leilani thought of an idea, one that she thought might satisfy Zayne. ”Would you like to come stay with me and Mylie. Zayne? I know you may be upset with me, but I figure it would be the best way for us to get to know one another.” Leilani suggested as she glanced at Mylie again. Mylie seemed bored but she hoped that Mylie was excited to possibly have her brother back with her possibly. All Zayne had to do was say yes. There was plenty of extra room, plus she could see him off to school.

When Mylie leaned over to whisper something in her ear, Leilani furrowed her eyebrows. ”Zayne, sweetheart, did that Suzanne women do something to you?” Leilani was surprised that Mylie would be the one telling her but she might as well question about it to Zayne. Her hands went out and brushed some of the hair away from her sons face to look into his eyes. She wanted an honest answer. Had that b*tch done something to her baby? Goodness if she found out she had she would march right over to wherever the hell she was and give that woman a piece of her mind, then take Zayne away for good. It wouldn't be Keyne's fault at all, but she would not let that woman hurt her son anymore if she was. Leilani tried not to show that she was worried and stressed by the situation. Thinking of someone hurting one of her children made her so angry.

Zayne flinched slightly when Leilani smoothed his hair a bit, but he straightened his posture once more, like it had never happened. The last thing he wanted to do was make his mother think that he was being beaten or something of the sort while he was at his home. Zayne was bit being beaten, but he was just emotionally abused because of his blood type, and he did not even know why. All he knew was that supposedly, pure-bloods were the spawns of the Dark Lord, and somehow he was cursed to be like them. Zayne shrugged it off now though. He looked over at Mylie as Leilani explained, but it was not going to be enough to have him just believe it yet. She did not explain why she had not wrote to him. Zayne let out a sigh and he nodded lightly. He would have to see proof of both sides putting forth the effort to bring the family back together, but he would have to work on Keyne himself, and get rid of that step-mother of his that was driving everyone nuts. Zayne started to wonder if either side fought for the children, so that they could all be raised together, but alas, the Slytherin was doubting it. He looked up at his mother, longing to be able to trust her, but she still appeared as though she were still a stranger to him. It would be a little bit before he would warm up to her. Zayne was like that with everyone he met, which Keyne did not know where he had gotten that bit from. Though what lurked in Zayne's mind, and what was told to Kaia, it was enough to drive apart his father and step-mother, but he had yet to realize it. Zayne paused to think on that question, and though his heart was screaming for him to say yes, his mind was a little mixed up. Zayne did not want to leave his dad, but he did not want to miss the opportunity to be with his real mother as well.

Finally, he nodded slightly, "Yes, I suppose I could. As long as dad can come by the house and all. I can't just leave him too." And he did not want to leave Keyne all alone with that woman. But then there was one question that threw him completely off guard. Zayne stared at Leilani with his light gray eyes, and he did not even realize that she would think of that so suddenly. It had to do with Mylie telling her however. Perhaps she was better at reading than he was. The only person he had told was Kaia, what all Suzanne had done. Well, she did not do anything per say, but just made him think that he was this great evil being in the world because of his blood status. She did not do the same to Keyne though. That was something that clicked in his mind as well. Zayne looked at his mother and stated, "She doesn't hit me, if that's what you are asking." Zayne shrugged his shoulders, keeping everything else hidden in the back of his mind. He did not want to tell anyone else about what all he had been through. Maybe a later time, but he just did not want to. He promised himself, that he would tell Keyne next. He just had to work up the courage to tell him. Perhaps in a letter, but he was going to tell his dad before he told anyone else. And he was sticking to that promise he made himself.

Leilani nodded. Her heart filled with warmth when her son agreed to come live with her and Mylie. He did want to be able to still see his father and Leilani had no problem with that. Boy did she have a surprise for him then, he had no idea where Leilani was currently living at thanks to Keyne and her divorce from Gregory. ”That is more than alright. Mylie and I have moved into the beach house your father owns, so he’ll be able to visit easily whenever he wants to.” Leilani had to be careful not to mention to Zayne or Mylie, or even Amycus that she and Keyne had slept together in her office the day she decided to divorce her husband. It would be too confusing for them to understand what was going on. Keyne and Leilani were not getting back together, but they weren’t hiding from one another anymore. The children might mistake their actions for them getting back together. Leilani didn’t want to install false hope into the children. But she did want them to know that she and their father were trying to fix the broken bridge between their family. Shaking her head, Leilani wasn’t fully satisfied with Zayne’s response. She was relieved that the woman didn’t hit him. But she wanted him to feel like he could share with her. But pressing the issue wouldn’t help her bond with him at all. Leilani could tell that Mylie was giving Zayne a look. Mylie seemed to know something. But that might’ve been due to what Amycus knew. It made Leilani nervous to have her there with that woman. Gregory wasn’t as much of a thread because he was a muggle, not a muggleborn. He could not do magic like Keyne’s wife could. It would’ve been more than easy to stop him if Leilani ever needed to. ”Alright, You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to. I just want you to know that if you ever need to talk I’m here.” It was the best Leilani could offer without knowing the full story of the situation, of if Zayne was okay. He seemed okay. He seemed like he was happy to be out. He was probably not as expressive as most children were. Or it was something he didn’t feel comfortable sharing. Mylie was like that sometimes. Amycus on the other hand, was blunt. Not too much, but enough to where you knew what was on her mind. Leilani thought that Amycus took after Keyne in all aspects except for the fact that she hated Quidditch. So did Mylie it appeared. Hopefully Zayne liked it or Keyne was going to have to deal with the fact that none of his children are really fans of the sport he couldn’t live without. It was like Muggles and football. Insane

Leilani glanced backward at the clock. It read that it was just about time for lunch. Perhaps Zayne was hungry some too? Smiling softly, Leilani turned to him. ”Would you like to come get some lunch with us Zayne? I don’t think you’ve ever been to my Restaurant. Have you ever tried Hawaiian cuisine?” If not she needed to get some into that boys system and quick. It was in his heritage, he was partially Hawaiian. He probably didn’t even know that either. If he spent more time with Leilani then he would learn quickly. Hopefully, if he decided to accept her invitation to go out to lunch, liked the food there. Leilani figured than even if he wasn't used to Hawaiian cuisine that he would adjust ot it quickly. It was in his blood. Just like tanning He was naturally able to tan quickly.

Zayne truly did not want to leave his father behind, he loved his dad with all of his might, but he looked up at the woman that gave birth to him before he started to wonder, where in the world did his mother live? He was not for sure, but he was wanting to find out. He swallowed before he looked down at the ground at his shoes. He wondered if she lived really far away, but well, he would find out. He was all right with surprises. It was not until Leilani told him that she and Mylie had moved into the beach house that his dad owns, so his dad would be able to see him anytime he wanted. Zayne nodded before he said, "That is good to know. I hate the beach though." He shrugged, but he didn't explain why he hated the beach. He didn't like to swim so much, or surf, or build sand castles. He would live without the sunburns. He didn't care about it much at all. But he hoped that Keyne would be around him for the holidays. He had so much to tell his dad. Then he started to think, the family was slowly coming together, and his dad was helping it alone. Leilani lived in his beach house which means that they made contact, and Keyne was still hopelessly in love with her, and perhaps she felt the same way about him. He could feel eyes on him, before he looked over at Mylie. She knew something. Amycus must have said something. He had forgotten that the two might have been close. Zayne barely looked fazed by her stare, before he turned his attention back to his mother. He hid behind that wall once more. At least he was not being tortured by the woman, just emotionally, and it was ending here soon enough. He was getting away, so he could leave that place far behind him when he was going to live with his mom.

The Slytherin looked up at her before he muttered, "That will be the first time. I hope you can hold your word." Zayne held no amount of coldness in his voice, but granted, this was the first time he had remembered meeting his mother. He would have to get around to trusting her. Suzanne had made him very untrusting to others. Zayne stuck his hands down into the pocket of his jeans before he continued to look up at Leilani with bright, gray eyes that were as cloudy as an overcast behind them. He told others what he had on his mind, but the thing was, he never really called out for it unless it was truly needed. Right now, it was not the time, and he would only do so if he was asked. Then he would say what was on his mind. Right now, he was just being who he was, and that was someone that was often distant of others, being rather cautious. It was the way he was, and he didn't know if his mother was like he was. Zayne then was offered to go to lunch with Leilani. At first he was going to refuse, but then he remembered that he was safe with her. There couldn't be anything that would go wrong with this. Zayne finally answered, "I guess I could. Spending more time with you would heighten my chances of getting to know you faster. And no I have not." He was curious, but he did not even know of his mother's heritage. Mainly because he didn't know and did not ask his dad. He looked toward Mylie once more, before vaguely wondering if she felt jealous of having to share her mother with him or not. Or if she even liked him in the least bit. He didn't know much about her, except that she was a Hufflepuff, and so very unlike the others. Much like himself and the other Slytherins.
