Jeremy would be remiss if he missed his final Halloween Feast. Of all the parties that were thrown at the school, this was his favorite one. The decorations were always great, the costume contest was fun to watch and it was easily a time for all the castle's inhabitants to let their hair down. Using some black eyeliner that he'd borrowed from one of the Ravenclaw girls, Jeremy made his face look dirty and then he got dressed in his muggle soldier costume. Jeremy liked his costume this year and he smiled to himself before heading down to the Great Hall. The Head Boy entered the place eagerly and looked around, surprised to see so many students already inside. Some of the professors were already there as well and the Head Boy nodded to the Deputy Headmaster as he headed for the table to get some punch.

With a glass in hand, Jeremy walked around. He stopped for a moment to speak to his good friend, Dymetris, but moved on after a few moments. He noticed that another student had come as a soldier, but they were from different eras so Jeremy didn't care. He did stop to salute his fellow soldier and then chuckled, commenting on how cool the guy's costume looked. Jeremy was a bit sad that this would be the last Halloween he would be at the school, but he knew that was life. He had to move on and grow up and do adult things and school was not one of those things. He couldn't stay here forever, but he did plan on enjoying the time he had left. Settling himself at a table, Jeremy continued to speak to his fellow housemates and classmates as they walked by.

Briar was enjoying the halloween feast ths year. it was the first time in a few weeks she had actually felt like herself which was a little odd as it was only a few days off a full moon which meant that she would usually be feeling low. apparently the emotional hit she had had at the start of the month had messed up her usually cycle. right now she was walking around the edge of the hall she had been talking to her sister, but when she had gone to talk to some people in her own year, and her other friend had gone to hang with her friends, briar headed too see who she could talk to. it was funny seeing peoples reactions when they noticed her. it was common knowledge that she was a werewolf and when people saw her their eyes darted from her face that was now a muzzle and fur, and up to the roof at the night sky, where the near full moon hung glowing in the blackness. no this wolf head wasn't real, it was purely some transfiguration that she had been practicing, and the fur was just a jinx that she had cast on her self, the jinx that her little brother seemed rather fond of.
pumpkin pie in hand she reached part of the room that had a few tables most of them filled with fourth year girls checking out the boys, or the shyer students who weren't quite brave enough to join the festivities, or the people who were just having a moment rest. why they were they wasn't really a matter the thing that briar was looking for was a table, somewhere she could sit and eat her pie, and sweets. she could only see one with space for the wolf girl as it only had one person on it. she headed that direction and realised that it was Jeremy. "hey Lieutenant Thorne, nice costume, do you mind if I join you" she said. her voice a little weird as the muzzle didn't quite work the same as lips, but the words were still thankfully understandable.

"Thanks." Jeremy turned his head, a smile on his face as someone recognized his costume as that of a soldier. He knew that not every student here had grown up around muggles or cared to learn about muggle ways. The smile froze on his face when he came face to face with a wolf's muzzle. He had already recognized the voice as Briar even though she did sound a bit off and there was obviously a reason for that as he was certain that muzzles weren't meant to be able to project human voices. Jeremy didn't particularly like any sort of canine and he'd always been uneasy with the fact that the Head Girl and his classmate, Briar, was a werewolf even though she seemed fine with parading the fact around. Jeremy wasn't sure whether to think her brave for constantly announcing, both by her words and deeds that she was a wolf, or to think her pushy and abrasive for forcing her lycanthropy on everyone. After staring at her for a second, Jeremy forced out a reply, not wanting to be rude. "Yea, sure. Why not?" he said, quickly biting into a pumpkin cookie and ensuring that his mouth was full enough that he wouldn't have to speak for a few moments.

When he had finished the cookie, Jeremy realized that he'd have to say something or risk making this more awkward for them than it already was, for him anyway. Jeremy couldn't know what Briar was feeling and he hoped she didn't realize his discomfort. "Are you entering the costume contest?" he asked casually. He wasn't going to. He never did because the idea of standing on the stage while everyone stared at him was enough to send him into a panic. You'll have to do it for graduation, he reminded himself and quickly pushed the thought away. He'd have plenty of time before he'd have to think about that.

Briar smiled at the head boy as she took a seat it felt odd that this would be their last halloween at the castle, unless she returned to teach, but that was unlikely, she wanted to play quidditch, and work in the ministry, either an auror or in a werewolf office in the department of regulation and control of magical creatures. "sorry if this is a little messy, I am not used to eating pie with a mouth like this" she said, hoping that she didn't make too much of a fool of herself like she had earlier with the flavoured potions, it hadn't been her fault hers had been chilly flavoured. she took a bite and managed to swallow it without getting too much in her fur. after a few moments of them both eating, the quietness became awkward but she didn't say anything as she wasn't sure what t say. thankfully he spoke, asking if she was entering the costume contest. "yes, after the amount of time it took me to get this right, I just hope i don't end up with fur for the rest of the week, that would we slightly awkward." she said smiling her best wolf smile, though it looked more like a grimace or growl than a normal smile. "are you entering? its the last year, you may as well you haven't anything to loose by entering." she said, not realising how self conscious her fellow head student was, as she had never been that way. No, she respected Jeremy, and once someone had her full respect they had it for life as it took a lot to loose it. thinking about it, she had been self conscious once, she had been self conscious of how people saw her a year ago, but she was somehow thankful to Jaden for broadcasting her secret so obviously that she could do nothing but make the most of it.

Jeremy wondered what Briar was apologizing for and then he realized what she was saying. He stared, eager to watch her attempt to eat. She managed to succeed but it was still enough to make Jeremy chuckle. He listened to her speak once she had finished her pie and cleaned herself off. He grew considerably warmer to her after that. " I don't know...it'd lighten up classes, that's for sure" Jeremy replied, thinking about Briar walking into class still furry come Monday morning. It would be amusing to say the least. When she asked if he would be entered, Jeremy shook his head. "Nah, I never do." He knew that what she said made sense. It would be his last opportunity to enter the competition, but he didn't really have a desire to. He never had, which was why he'd never entered the competition. "I'll cheer you on though. The only other person I've seen with a costume like yours is Black and she's the transfig professor so she better be able to perform transfiguration like that." He'd watched Professor Black walk by earlier and she had transfigured herself into a cat. It was pretty cool.

Briar tried to smile as Jeremy laughed at her attempt at eating. she would have laughed at herself if she could see it, and if she was able to laugh properly which she couldn't as it came out as an odd sort of growl. "I will remember that If we have to sit through a boring class i will hit myself with the fur hex, and see how long it takes for people to see, that would certainly make it more entertaining than learning theory. but it looks like we are onto practical work until christmas, maybe next semester" she said still smiling, briar made it no secret that she hated theory classes, and much preferred the classes when she was actually doing stuff, either learning new spells or actually handling and looking at plants and creatures. "you should enter, but if you don't want to then thats cool, you shouldn't want to do something you don't want to, but thanks for the support, there are some pretty good ones out this year." she said when he said he wasn't entering, she gestured to some of the other costumes specifically one of the first years who she remembered as being Khione, who was dressed as some sort of cute animal. someone who she was pretty sure was Lola dancing hyperactively as a sort of fantasy angel. "yeah, the transfiguration professor had better be able to transfigure herself, or she is teaching the wrong subject, she makes a good cat though" she said as she spotted the professor in question.

Jeremy pointed a finger at Briar. "I'm gonna hold you to that" he joked at what she had said, though he certainly did think that seeing Briar in this get-up in class would help the other seventh years relieve some stress and stay awake in certain classes. It seemed that some professors were bent on cramming every bit of knowledge they had into the seventh year's brains. Usually, Jeremy didn't mind theory but he was not so into it this year. He had the feeling that he was dealing with a case of senioritis. He nodded his agreement, "Charms has been pretty fun these days." Professor Kesslar had them blowing stuff up on the lawn and Jeremy was thoroughly enjoying that class more than he ever had in the past.

Jeremy smiled slightly at what she said, but he was already certain that he wasn't going to enter. Looking around as he spoke, he was sure she was right. It seemed that transfiguration was pretty big this year and many people had transfigured parts of their costume. The first years mostly stuck to regular costumes, but the older students incorporated spell work into theirs. "It's her animagus, so I figure she has had a lot of practice changing into a cat" he stated. Finishing his drink, Jeremy put the cup down and spoke once more, a more serious expression on his face. "Have you heard anything about who might be behind that stupid magazine?" he asked, figuring that if there was anyone trying to figure it out it might be Briar. Jeremy had been happy to escape with only a slight mention again this time and hoped that would last. He couldn't imagine being the magazine's focus like Briar was. Jeremy looked out on the dance floor, wondering which of the partiers it was. Surely, the writer of the magazine would show up to one of the biggest parties the school had all year.
