With everything going on, the least that Niklaus had expected was a letter from home... His dad... He had died. Niklaus felt as he had failed him, he didn't go in his footsteps, he didn't bring him any pride, he never made him proud. He was everything that his dad had wanted, but at least he was being himself. Nik knew one thing the best, how to stay loyal to himself, his principles, to his mindset and it was what kept the young man going tightly. He had no idea what to do but here he was, about to graduate, tired of learning, planning on where to study, what to do next, he tried to get himself together. So, here he was, leaning against a rock, during almost winter, knowing that he could get sick, but yet, feeling like it was the best place to be. It was quiet, cold and getting darker. And Niklaus was just writing down schools that he had received from Kiara where he could enroll. The job luckily wasn't a problem, he had it and will have it. So the school...

Sawyer felt like he’d spent the past few months with his head stuffed full of cottonwool. The realization of everything stretching out before him as an empty nothing after graduating, things with Estella, their failure of a final Quidditch match, it all felt like it was circling the drain inside his brain without ever actually falling and it was annoyingly distracting.

The lake was always his go-to when he needed to clear his head, though Sawyer pulled up short when he spotted his roommate tucked up against the rock near the shore. Apparently he didn’t have a total monopoly on seventh year brooding, pulling his robes around him a little tighter as he decided to risk the social awkwardness and go join Nik.

Hey, how’s the brooding today?” He asked lighting, leaning back against the rock next to Niklaus with a quiet huff as his back hit a little harder than he meant, before directing his gaze out across the cold looking water of the lake.

Nik felt like he was slowly drawing in a possible final answer as he heard footsteps. It was Sawyer, so Nik just shot him a short smile and let him take a place next to him. Even with all the years in the same dorm, they had never really talked out of the practices before he dropped the Quidditch. For a girl that he didn't even talk to anymore.

"Yeah, it sucks," he admitted with a little chuckle as he threw a little stone into the lake. Then he tried to keep off a little smile as his dormmate sat a bit too hard. "What's your plan? What are you gonna do?" After Hogwarts, of course. Nik had no idea what really to do, he needed some inspiration and maybe Sawyer had any idea. It would be an amazing chance for Nik to take his mind off the catastrophe that was his whole life.

Sawyer raised a sympathetic eyebrow at Niklaus' response, nodding and smiling vaguely out at the lake as his roommate tossed a stone in. He would have been content to ruminate in silence, it seemed to be a thing with him and Nik considering how little they'd really talked properly since becoming roommates, but he supposed graduation was on everyone's mind right now so the question shouldn't have caught him that off guard. "I don't know... Hang out for a bit I guess. I dunno. Is it bad to admit I haven't been thinking that far ahead?" Sawyer admitted, scratching at his cheek and scrunching up his face as he tried to envision his life post school. Mostly he got about as far as him on the couch back home and then it sort of fizzled out. "What about you? Got it all planned out then?" Niklaus had always come across pretty seriously, Sawyer wouldn't be surprised to find he had some sort of plan already ready to go.
