The First Step

It had been over six months since Charlotte and Dan had graduated and James had proposed to Maddy, and Charlotte couldn't believe how fast everything was going. She somehow missed Hogwarts and playing Quidditch for Slytherin, but was now looking forward to the future and what it would bring as she was finally apart of a professional Quidditch team and could not be happier with where her life was heading. Both Charlotte and Dan had found a place to live together not too far from where they both previously lived in New Zealand and Charlotte was excited to finally move in. The woman had everything packed neatly into her suitcase with the help of an extension charm and was waiting patiently for Dan to arrive so they could go to their new place together. Even though it was exciting, Charlotte couldn't help but miss the home she was raised in and it would be such a different feeling than before but she would soon get used to it. Her British Shorthair, Ceri, slept in his cage next to the suitcase patiently as the pair of them waited. Many thoughts were running through Charlotte's mind as she was just eager to be living with Dan in a slightly new environment, taking the first step of adulthood.

The last half year had gone really quickly for Dan, who had just applied to become part of the ministry here in New Zealand. It took some consideration, but in the end he decided he loved the country and would rather stay here, at least for a while. On the plus side, him and Charlotte were great and he could only see positive things happen in future between the two of them. Of course, the pair were still young, however the former Slytherin wasn’t even thinking of any scenarios where Charlotte wasn’t going to be in his life. When he was ready, the nineteen-year-old grabbed his suitcase and apparated to his and Charlotte’s meeting place. It was exciting, he could only have a smile on his face as he saw his girlfriend and walked over to her. Moving in together was a big step in people's relationships, but as he glanced at Charlotte he did so with love and admiration. Living with someone else alone also meant he would become fully independent and would not need to ask his parents for many things. Granted, Dan and Amy had always been somewhat independent from their parents, for a few years now, but this was just a bigger, higher step in the direction of adulthood. "Hey," he greeted and gave her a gentle kiss. "You ready?" he asked, nodding towards her suitcase and cat, who was resting peacefully in his cage.​
