The First Dance

Lionel was descending down the stairs wearing his formal attire for the Yule Ball together with his best pals. Just like the others, he was also excited as a twelve year old boy. He was excited to join the ball and to see Katerina wearing a formal dress. Plenty of girls, who were a year younger than him and same age, were asking him to dance with them. But Lionel shook his head with respect, saying “I’m sorry, I already have a partner.” And while leaving them lonely, Lionel smiled friendly so it wouldn’t be harsh to them.

Making a potion in prank gave Lionel a hard time. Giving him two days being absent in school because he was sick because of the prank he made. It was quite awful and today, he was already feeling well after spending his much time from two days from the Hospital Wing and back in the Gryffindor Common Room. And finally, he was now at the Yule Ball, he couldn’t help himself feeling excited for the dance. He wished that Katerina doesn’t have a partner. Actually, aside from crush, he also treat Katerina as his younger sister since Lionel doesn’t have any siblings and so Katerina does.

Lionel walked through the crowded area while the dance still hasn’t started. The floating candles were gone and the brownish brick wall transformed into an elegant blue wall with hanging sea blue curtains in its ceilings. On the other side, there was a huge Christmas Tree at the center of the Great Hall. It wasn’t green nor looked like a pine tree with designs at all. It seemed to be made from crystal, shrouded with Christmas designs which tricked Lionel because it was still a pine tree with snow on it. Lionel and his friends walked further. He couldn’t see Katerina around. Is she absent? Then Lionel hoped that he was wrong, decided to jam with his friends for awhile. Making jokes again around the ball as they made the people laugh.

Winter Day really made Katerina jumped all over again inside the castle together with his friends as they watched the snowfall a few days ago. She was very happy as she starred in cherish at the white landscape, as she twirled all around outside the castle. And this time, Katerina really made happier when she’s going to attend the Yule Ball. It was quite sad that she wasn’t one of the students who attended the Costume Contest for the Halloween Feast. However, it was unexpected when she just received a gray formal dress with a purple furry shawl and a ribbon hairclip from her parents with a note that it was for the ball she’s going to wear.

Katerina walked through the Great Hall feeling pleased with herself together with the Sixth Year Ravenclaw, Laura Bridge, escorting Katerina as if it she was her younger sister. It was quite cold inside the Great Hall, yet Katerina could feel the excitement that drifted through evening air, entering the castle.

While walking, she saw Lionel laughing through the crowded area with his friends. This made her happier as she bid goodbye to Laura and walked towards him. She waited for three days, wishing that Lionel was already back to normal, as he felt well again. And she was very excited to see her best friend again, missing him for days. “Heya there!” she greeted brightly.​

It was all funny as Lionel and his friends make jokes, as he laughed and laughed until he heard someone greeted him. He stopped laughing as he recognized the voice, knowing who owns it. He turned around and saw Katerina was smiling brightly at him. Lionel smiled brightly as Katerina. "Kate!" he said happily as he make a friendship sign handshake with her. He thought that she wouldn't appear anymore since she didn't attended the Costume Contest in the Halloween Feast. "Didn't see you around here. Who's your partner for the ball?" he asked, hoping that Katerina still haven't got a partner.
