Norton had gone for a very easy look this halloween, it was a simple costume largely because he had bought a new jacket over the holidays and was looking for a reason to do something with it, but not feeling the right amount of confidence to actually wear it normally, so he’d gone to halloween as a bad boy. It was matched with dark jeans, a white top, dark sunglasses that made it rather tricky to see in the low party light, he’d put on a beanie too, trying to soften his usual curls. He’d put on black nail varnish and tried his hand with some eyeliner too. It was all just part of a look, a little tricky and a little more work that he might’ve otherwise expected but it wasn’t a huge amount either. He stepped into the great hall, and lowered his sunglasses a little so that he could see. Immediately his gaze found April and he let himself grin happily. She was beautiful. He couldn’t help the fond expression on his features as he looked at her. He walked over and nudged her shoulder a little, ”Come here often?” he said in as low a tone as he could manage, trying his best to emulate the bad boys he’d seen in muggle films prior to hogwarts.

April's costume wasn't the most original one, but she really liked the big fluffy skirts. She had already twirled around in them many times, forgetting to play the part of a stuff and lifeless doll. It wasn't really a role that suited her very well, and it was just a costume anyway. The Halloween feast was not really a dance party like the yule ball or valentine's dance, but she still found a spot to just twirl around for a while while she waited for Norton or one of her friends to approach her. She looked up when someone nudged her shoulder and grinned at Norton. That grin turned into a burst of giggles as he asked her if she came here often in a very funny low voice. "What are you?" She asked him, looking him up and down. "You look nice, but what's with that voice?" She giggled. "And I do come here often, about three times a day to eat." She added jokingly.

Norton smiled and laughed lightly, ”I’m a bad boy, I have to have a gruff voice,” Norton was still trying to put on the gruff voice but he was smiling and laughing. The prefect twirled around, showing off what he was wearing to her. The teen then laughed at what she replied to his question, ”Wow,” Norton replied, ”And I’ve never seen you around here, can I interest you in a dance pretty lady,” he kept the voice gruff and trying to be what he was supposed to be. The boy just wanted to dance with his girlfriend and pretend to be a bad boy. ”You look beautiful by the way,” he dropped the voice for a moment to speak to her normally. He loved how beautiful she looked, and how amazing the costume was on her. They could still have a good amount of fun.

April had a bright smile on her face as Norton told her what he was dressed as, and she giggled again as he spoke. It wasn't bad, but definitely a bit weird and strange. April had to admit she preferred his normal voice. This was... un-Norton like. Though she supposed that was the point of Halloween. "Okay, mister bad boy." She said with a small laugh. "This doll will dance with you, but only if you can keep up with me." She teased, twirling around one more time. She definitely wasn't as committed to staying true to her costume as her boyfriend. Dolls were boring and still, and April wanted to move. She felt her cheeks heat up when Norton said she looked beautiful, and met his eyes for a moment. "You look nice too. Very handsome." She said softly, then quickly pecked him on the cheek. "C'mon, enough mushy stuff. Dance time."

Norton grinned at her, ”Course, doll,” he replied with a little smile, he knew from those films that men sometimes called women that, he didn’t particularly like it as a term, it was a little odd to think of someone as a doll, but at the very least, April actually was dressed as a doll, so he didn’t feel nearly as cringe for saying it. He grinned easily watching her twirl and knew that his smile went against what persona he was trying to have. The teen let his gaze meet hers and smiled at her when she returned the compliment, even kissing him on the cheek, but he agreed they didn’t need to do any more mushy stuff they could just hang out, dance and have fun like they had always done. Norton smiled easily as he took her hand and led her out to a spot on the dance floor where they could just let loose and have some fun. He loved doing that with her, it was what they’d always done. He let go of her hand to dance, the song playing was a little too upbeat for anything other than their usual -well specifically his - erratic dancing.
