Alicia had never had a girlfriend before, but she was really enjoying it. She and Marama had agreed to date after the Yule Ball, so this was their first real event as girlfriends. Alicia had put on a flowery dress for the occasion and had met up with her girlfriend at the common room. They had headed into the Great Hall together and Alicia had enjoyed taking in all the decorations. After getting some snacks and drinks and chatting for a bit, the girls headed off to the dance floor. Alicia grinned and twirled Marama around. "This is so much fun!" She half-yelled happily.

Marama was still getting used to the giddy thrill of having a girlfriend. She had watched her older brothers take wildly different approaches to love, and never quite knew how it was going to hit her when she was old enough. But now she was dating Alicia, and everything felt exciting and new. School dances were different with a girlfriend, they just were. She laughed in delight as she spun under Alicia's arm, reveling in the thrill of having someone to dance with. "Yeah!" She grinned, pulling Alicia close and spinning the two of them around with the music.

Alicia laughed as the two spun around and danced, enjoying her time with Marama and moving to the music. After a while, she laughed and pulled Marama to the side. "Let's grab a drink- I'm thirsty." She breathed, turning around to look at her. Then a hush fell over the people nearby and Alicia frowned, looking around to see what was going on. Then her eyes widened. "Um, Marama?" She called, as she saw Marama's brother kneel before his boyfriend with a ring. Holy crap.

A drink sounded like a perfect idea, and Marama's eyes were already on the drinks table trying to scout a route off the dance floor when Alicia spoke, drawing her attention back to.

Oh no.

Marama's eyes flew wide and she clapped both hands to her mouth in disbelief. Of course Rāwhiti was stupid enough to propose to his boyfriend while they were still in school. And to do it publicly, no less. Marama had been more and more worried about her brother this year, and after his Quidditch loss she had written a long letter to their mum asking her what to do to help him. Neither of them had been prepared for this, though. An insane, giddy part of Marama wanted to charge them, as though just tackling Rāwhiti where he stood would solve whatever mess he was in the middle of making. Her eyes flicked up to where she had seen Vanity with an older boy earlier, trying to see if Emery's sister was experiencing as much horror as she was right now.

Alicia's gaze moved between the spectacle in front of them and Marama's horrified face. This was bad. She had known Raawhiti was going through some stuff but this seemed extreme, and judging by Marama's reaction she felt the same. Alicia grimaced as she looked at the look on the Ravenclaw boy's face. It seemed like he hadn't been prepared for this either, and Alicia felt almost overcome with second-hand embarrassment. "Should we do something?" She hissed at Marama, not sure what they could do.
