Sapphire had been busy but not so much with school work. Now that she had confidence in herself it took her little to no effort to get her homework done. She knew that it was probably a good thing seeing as next year would be N.E.W.Ts and she planned to do well even though what she wanted to do wasn't all that magical. Sapphire had been working on what she was setting up here. She had her cello and flute here even though this was a string quartet there where other things that could be included to complement the sound of the strings. Sapphire also had her sheet music to show everyone if they liked it. She didn't really have all that much confidence in the stuff she had written herself but it was something to start with that or anything from Rasputina who did some good work.

Sapphire had run into a couple of younger girls and asked them if they knew anyone who could play something like the violin to get the answers from both of them that they played and wanted to join. She was sure that the four of them would be great friends and would be able to make school suck less. She had heard of a completely horrid girl that was pickig on a few people while Rumor Has It was making people seem like they were worthless when they where really now. Sapphire herself had been attacked twice now which made her wonder who had it out for her. Thinking about this Sapphire pulled her bow string across her cello and started one a song called "Leech Wife" which reflected pretty close to what she thought Rumor was doing. She was also waiting for Kate and the girls.

Kate had been doing some extra practice on her violin. She was looking forward to practicing with the new quartet. She was looking forward to playing some music with them, she hoped they could play at the Yule Ball, that would be fun.She never really got to play her violin. The Glee club had been more about singing and preforming and it was usually pop music. The violin was all about classical or a it of trad.Irish traditional music can be great craic at parties and just when you have nothing else to do.She had kind of missed playing it.She missed the familiar feel of the strings on her fingers and the smell of old wood. Her violin had belonged to her great, great grandfather,it had been passed down from generation to generation. The older the violin was the better it was.

She was now walking down the corridors with her violin case slung across her back. She didn't have far to go though,it was only in the student lounge which was on the same floor as the Hufflepuff corridor. They had managed to get two members to complete the quartet.Kate's fingers clenched when a group of girls leered t her and called her both branch and drama queen. She just had keep her cool and not freak out. When she reached the student lounge she was still p!ssed. She opened the door and Sapphire was there "Hey Sapphire"She said a forced smile on her face.

Danielle skipped down form the 7th floor corridor, approaching the student lounge, where the quartet would have their first meeting. With her guitar strung across her back, she tried to remember all the names! She was so stupid for not asking! She went through the list. Kate, that was a no-brainer. They were best friends, she'd be hard not to remember. The other girl who started it - her name was a gem? Ruby..Emerald...Sapphire! it was Sapphire. And the last girl...something with an A. Alex? Alexandra? something like that. She was so deep in her thoughts, she barely realized she had made it the student lounge and she almost crashed into the door! What a good way to begin - seeing how clumsy Danielle was. But luckily, she avoided it. Barely.

She opened the door and only saw two girls - Kate and Sapphire. Phew, she didn't have to ask the others girl's name to her face. "Hey Sapphire, Kate! Don't mind my rainbow-strings, hehe!" Danielle smiled. She pulled her sheet music out of her guitar case. It was mainly pop, rock, and jazz. She had hoped other people brought it, that type of music. She didn't need most of the sheet music, she just liked it there in-case. After a bit of setting up, she walked over to Sapphire. She whispered, "Hey do you remember the other girls name? I forgot!"

sorry for lameness!

Don't think it's lame actually

Sapphire looked up and saw Kate enter the room first. She smiled back though she could see her smile was forced. "Wanna talk about it or want to let the strings do the talking. I have Saline the Salt Lake Queen in the pile. That one is always good for a pick me up when you need it." She said thinking of the song. It walked about a girl who lived in the middle of a dried up lake but liked to bake so she used the salt that was left behind from the lake to bake with because she had nothing else. Sapphire thought the song funny and the beat was a happy one. Though if Kate was too upset for something like that Sapphire would understand.

Danielle came in and Sapphire smiled bright. "Her name is Auden. Thanks for coming down. I know we're going to have a lot of fun. With three voices what could go wrong?" She asked looking around. The girl had told her she could sing before. She looked down at the guitar with a nod. "I won't say anything about the strings if you don't say anything about the MagiInks." She said showing the younger girl her sleeved arms. The tattoo like drawings all over her arms where enough to show just how much of an artist Sapphire was. She was teasing the girl a little to break the ice a little bit.

This time Kate's smile was genuine."Maybe later"She said, beginning to take her violin out of her case.It was more of a dark brown color and it smelled of rosin.Under the middle of the violin it was covered in white rosin,Kate knew she should have cleaned it ages okay but she just had been preoccupied. It wasn't going to kill or damage the violin,it just made it look better. It should really be polished to but Kate would do this if they were going to preform anyway but when it was just practicing Kate would leave it the way it was.She took out the bow and tightened the strings. This was her third bow as she had broken the other two via frustration. When you can't get something right and you are trying your best and you still can't get or else you are just in a bad mood and you swing out and your bow connects with something. Her parents had been furious both times as bows are not cheap.

Danielle entered the room next and Kate smiled at her as she entered "Hey"She said laughing at Danielle's strings, they were really cool and it made the guitar look unreal.Kate had seen Auden around the common room, she didn't know the girl personally and she had no idea she could play a musical instrument. The quartet was going to be amazing. They were all very musically talented and she doubted any of them would have a problem with preforming in public.Kate began to tune her violin. It was usually in tune but she made sure everything sounded right "Could you play me an A Sapphire?"She asked turning to the other two girls.Having the musical ear was always a bonus when playing a string instrument.Your intonation had to be could to be a good violinist or cellist. You could probably still play with out the musical ear but it would be much harder to know when you are in tune or not.

Auden Lefevre slowly paced her way through the quiet halls of Hogwarts. She wasn't completely sure if she wanted to go through with this thing. As much as she loved music she was nervous to get to know the others. Particularly because two of them were mentioned in that Rumor Has It magazine that kept appearing around the school. It wasn't just one time that they had been featured either. That was what worried Auden the most. Would the author of the magazine start attacking her too? 'Let's face it....the last thing I need is someone making fun of me. Troxa already did enough bullying to tease me a lifetime.' Auden thought to herself bitterly as he hand squeezed tightly around the handle of her Viola case. Of course it had occurred to the third year that it wasn't really their fault. But maybe if they attracted less attention to themselves it wouldn't happen as much as it did. Auden had a world full of problems but she didn't see herself being featured in that magazine yet. That was because she kept it to herself. If it wasn't for the music she probably never would have spoken to these girls. It wasn't that she thought they were bad people or that the magazine was true, it was just that they had more drama in their lives than Auden was fully comfortable with. It would take time for her to get used to people being more open with their lives. Auden passed a corner and let her light blue eyes scan the hallway carefully. It was empty during this time of day. Most of the other students were either in class or enjoying some lunch. Auden didn't feel like eating right now either. Her stomach was filled with millions of fluttered butterflies. She hoped this worked out. It would give her something to do other than worry about avoiding Troxa and his friends. Hopefully these girls were just as friendly as she thought they were. She hoped they would tolerate the way she was, especially with her being a wee bit shy.

"Sorry I'm late everyone." Auden muttered. It seemed like she was the last one to arrive too. Just by the looks of the others, they were all a bit older than she was. No bother though. Older meant little to nothing in her eyes. So long as they knew how to play and they were willing to be friendly with her. Auden placed the small case down and retracted both the Viola and the bow from it. Auden made sure to keep her instrument clean and well taken care of. Her father would kill her if she ever kept in a condition any less than perfect. The viola was very similar to a violin, just different in ranges and from what Auden remembered, a little bit bigger. Auden used to admire those who played a cello. But it was always too big of an instrument for her to play by herself. That was okay though, as she liked the instrument she had now. Auden was unsure whether or not her instrument was tuned or not, but it seemed like she had time to tune it before they all played. Auden's pale fingers brushed aside some of her straw colored hair. Sadly, she knew nothing about the three girls she was playing with. She knew two of their names because of that magazine, but the Gryffindor, nothing. Auden was too shy to ask for names too.

Sapphire nodded and pulled an 'A' out of her cello. Even a single note seemed to have a soul for Sapphire. She closed her eyes letting the note hum through her body like the whisper of a lover. She wished with all she had that this would turn out to be a good thing. She had started to worry about Auden not showing up. It wasn't as if they where unknown in the school and there where people that just didn't get that the magazine was full of lies at worst, at best it had truths that where made to look worse than they where. Friendships had been put to the test because of that stupid thing. The good part was that her Hufflepuff friend had realized her he was indeed in love with the girl he was seeing. Things where not all bad.

As for Sapphire, she had been called worse at the place she had been forced to call home. She walked with pride even though the whispers followed her where ever she went. Her favorite name to date was 'face tat frankenskank' which had made her laugh for hours afterwards. No Sapphire wasn't taking the hit at all. The only thing was that all the attention that she had been getting could make one of them leave before they got to know everyone. "As if my thoughts brought you here. Hey there Auden!" She said with a wide smile on her face. "You know me and Kate of course. That with the rainbow strings is Danielle, she'll be our guitarist. Why don't you make yourself comfortable while I help Kate tune herself up." She said her voice very kind. The girl looked a bit shaky to her.
