Tess grew up with her mother Abigail Lillis and her father [name] in Ruby Bay, Nelson. She lived a happy childhood, knowing her wider family and meeting regularly for Christmas'. Whilst growing up Tess was tutored in French as well as English, and was required to learn advanced Maths skills, Home Economics and Geography. When eight Tess learnt that the leadership of her family skipped a generation, and was slightly disappointed but vowed to make her firstborn daughter into a sufficient leader. At eleven Tess began her wizarding education at Beauxbatons Institute, following her mother's footsteps. By the end of her first year the young academic had established herself as a polite, eager to learn student coming the top of her class in Potions, Transfiguration and Charms. Tess was hard working and diligent, leading her to the top of every one of her classes in her second year. In her third year Tess began Ancient Runes and Muggle Studies, having wanted to take Divination but not allowed to take it by her mother. She didn't top every class, rather only coming top in Transfiguration. She got the same in her fourth year, and in OWL year passed Transfiguration and Ancient Runes with Outstanding (her other subjects with Exceeds Exceptions). This year she was appointed School Prefect. In Tess' sixth year, she dropped History of Magic and Ancient Runes, preferring to focus on the subjects she enjoyed more. She met David in the winter of this year, he asked her out by letter in the second semester.
