It was Sam's birthday and he honestly did not feel like celebrating it. Most years, Sam never actually wanted to celebrate it but he would still meet up with his friends and hang out. However this year Sam didn't even want to do that. Sam didn't want to speak or see any of his friends. He had just broken up with Toni and now was questioning was it even the right thing to do? His head began to pound everytime he thought about that and he felt great longing in his heart for her everytime she popped into his head. She was continuously on his mind, and when she wasn't Sam felt completely and utterly empty without her. Sometimes he felt like marching down to the dungeons to talk to her or to just simply hug her. Just to be with her. Toni was always the one Sam went to with a problem, especially in the past year when he had barely spoken to his friends. He missed being able to do that. He just missed Toni in general.

Sam was spending his birthday in the only place left that he found comfort in, the Quidditch Pitch. Yet even though he brought his emerald broomstick he sat in the Hufflepuff stands staring into space. He tried to remind himself of the reasons why he broke up with Toni in the first place. It wasn't like they gave up when things became hard, they had been trying all Winter to sort things out. The spark just wasn't there anymore. But that still didn't mean that Sam didn't miss her. Because he did. He missed her like crazy. Somehow he knew, wheter he liked it or not, that himself and Toni were over for good. Over that long winter, Sam had grown, his facial features had changed, Sam's overall outlook on life had changed. He had become this mopey teenager, someone that he never thought he would become. Sam's clear blue eyes scanned the empty Quidditch Pitch whilst the defening silence soothed his frantic thoughts.

Scorpius had been on his way down to the Quidditch Pitch to practice on his skills for the next year. Just because there was no Quidditch that year (unfortunately) didn't mean he could slack off. He wanted Ravenclaw to be the best at Quidditch again and he had to try harder, especially after how badly he had done last year. But Scorpius wasn't just taking his Sienna Storm out for a ride on the Pitch for fun or 'training', he was going there to let out some pent up frustration. That was what he hated the most about not having Quidditch this year, there was no way to let our his anger in a healthy way.

The reason for Scorpius' pent up emotions were still the same thing as last year, Taylor. Yes he had broken up with her, and yes it had been exactly a year now, and yes he was beginning to feel like he could move on, possibly to someone else, but still this lingering feeling remained and he couldn't shake it off. He hated that he saw so little of his friends lately just because he wanted to avoid Taylor, but it turn that had made him so distant from his friends and he hated that.

Halfway down the steps from the Ravenclaw tower, Scorpius had turned another direction and decided to stop by the Hufflepuff common room and ask for Sam to accompany him. After asking a second year to go inside and look for his friend, the second year Hufflepuff emerged again, and not Sam, only to tell him that some other people had already seen the Hufflepuff fourth year leave earlier with his broomstick. Scorpius nodded in thanks to the younger Hufflepuff and continued down the flight of stairs of the castle.

He exited the front down and crossed the lawn with his broomstick over his shoulder. As he grew closer to the unused Quidditch Pitch he scanned the sky for Sam but couldn't see anyone up above. Finally as he arrived at the Pitch, he saw him sitting in the benches above. Scorpius tilted his head in concern and mounted his Sienna Storm, kicking off in the direction of Sam (it sure beat having to climb all the way up there). As Scorpius got close enough to Sam, he pulled his broom to a stop and hopped off beside Sam. "Someone told me I'd find you here," Scorpius said with a smile to his friend.

Sam didn't realise that someone had entered the pitch and it wasn't until he had heard the familiar (yet strangely unfamiliar) voice of his best friend that Sam cast his gaze to Scorpius, someone who he didn't really get a chance to talk to all that much as of late. Sam could honestly say that he missed hanging out with him, there was only so much of girls that a fifteen year old boy could take especially at a time like this. Sam forced a smile, "Hey." he looked away for a second or two before turning back to Scorpius, "Where else would I be?" he asked rhetorically and laughed but, again, it was forced and hollow. Sam indicated Scorpius to sit next to him because even though Sam could do without company at this time, he knew that Scorpius would understand how he was feeling especially after the whole Taylor thing. Which, now that Sam thought about it, he never actually got the chance to talk about to Taylor to Scorpius. The pair were in desperate need of a talk.

Scorpius chuckled lightly at Sam's response, and though it was a rhetorical question replied, with a small nod and, "True." Right away Scorpius noticed the difference in Sam. Even though the two hadn't talked in a while, he was still Scorpius' best friend and he could tell when something was wrong. Sam replied like he usually would, but it was his tone of voice that was different and so unlike the cheerful Sam everyone know; that concerned Scorpius. "What's up?" he asked lightly in his Irish accent, taking the seat beside Sam after he had offered it, and resting his broom upright beside him.
