Taking a Breather

Katalina was feeling extremely overwhelmed by everything that was going on in school so far. She was taking all but one elective and honestly wasn't too sure if that had been such a good idea. It almost felt like she spent all of her time doing homework or sitting in a classroom. None of her classes had taught any new spell work as of yet, which to her was slightly disheartening and she just wanted to learn more. Kat decided to take a walk out across the school grounds, hoping to clear her head a bit before starting back into the books. She sauntered out across the lawn, past the lake, and into the gardens. There was a slight breeze and she closed her eyes and let it blow across her face, loving the peace and quiet that surrounded her. She breathed deeply and the scent of flowers filled her nose. It was absolutely wonderful. Kat opened her eyes again and began to stroll through the maze like garden, stopping on occasion to smell a flower or two, truly enjoying the break that she was giving herself.

Makato had been so busy with school work and reuniting with friends that he hardly had time for himself. The school energy was great but sometimes overwhelming. Makato decided that he would go for a walk and clear his head so he decided to visit the school garden. It was the news installment to the already massive school since his last visit. Makato wondered throuhg the variety of flowers and plants. There was a light breeze that carried the swet smells across the garden. makato however could smell something not botanical.

Makato smeeled the perfume of the one person he had not seen all school year, Kat. Makato smiled he knew she was here and so he rushed throught the maze. There she was smelling a flower and Makato could not help but smile.

"Hiya blue eyes!"

Caught up and not paying much attention to anything else around her, Kat jumped when she heard him. She laughed a little bit when he called her the same nickname he'd always used for her and said, "Hiya yourself stranger!" She walked over to him and hugged him. Well it wasn't all a dream! she thought with a smirk, but couldn't help but smile brightly. "So...how are you readjusting to life at school?" she asked sweetly.

 

[Rhyspa Marinescu]

Rhyspa had been walking through the garden, looking at all the beautiful and exotic flowers. It reminded her of the garden her and Callan started at their new home, only not as exotic and somewhat bare. She hoped her mother was watering and weeding it while they were gone. As she turned onto another path, she heard one very familiar voice and another voice, just not as familiar.

Rhyspa followed the voices and found Kat and Makato. Rhyspa's smile faltered a bit when she saw Makato. She hadn't seen him in a year. It was sort of shocking to see him, though she knew he was back. Rhyspa put her smile back on as she approached them.

"Hey guys!" Rhyspa smiled.

Kat hadn't even heard anyone else approach, but then heard the voice of her best friend. She knew what Rhyspa must have been thinking. As always Rhyspa had a smile on her face, knowing that her approval would be what made Kat the happiest in the world right now. "Hey Rhyspa! How are you doing?" she asked her friend with a bright smile. She suddenly remembered that Makato probably didn't remember Rhyspa from the yule ball first year and so she turned to him and said, "Makato this is my best friend Rhyspa!" Kat then turned to her friend and said, "Rhyspa this is Makato! Not that I needed to tell you that!" She added the last with a laugh, knowing that Rhyspa would get it.

Rhyspa laughed quietly at Kat. "Hey Makato!" she grinned. "What've you two been up to lately?"

"I was actually just asking him the same question!" Kat said as she flashed a smile Makato's way. "As for me, it's been nothing but classes. I can't believe I decided to take all the electives...well everything except for Ancient Ruins. I'm starting to think it was a bad idea. How about you?" she asked in reply.

 

[Rhyspa Marinescu]

Rhyspa giggled. "I didn't take all of the electives because I knew I wouldn't be able to handle all of them," she said. "I haven't been doing much of anything either. Just schoolwork."

"You could've given me a bit of warning at how much work this was all going to be though!" she joked at her friend. She cut her eyes over to Makato and said, "Your being awfully quiet." She grabbed his hand and gave it a squeeze, smiling at him.

 

[Makato Scry]

"Sorry love I was comparing all the flowers here to your smile but I could not find not one to match its beauty." Makato smiled.

Turning to Rhyspa and addressing her while he gave Kat's hand a soft squeeze. " I do remember you quite well. You were at the first yule ball I atteneded. My you have grown more charming yourself over my abscence..." Makato smile faded for a brief seond as he looked the girl in the eyes and then spoke in a low voice." Thank you for looking after Kat for me, I was foolish to leave without..." Makato could not finish so he decided to change subject.

Smiling again he face Kat" Classes are rather easy I only dislike one of the classes I have and that is astronomy."

 

[Rhyspa Marinescu]

Rhyspa smiled at the younger boy softly, "It's no problem. Kat's my best friend, and she'd have done the same for me." She was glad Makato was back, he was always good to Katalina.

"Just make sure you don't do that little disappearing act of yours again," Rhyspa teased.

Kat beamed at Makato. "Flattery gets you everywhere!" she said with a chuckle as she leaned up to kiss him on the cheek. "I'm not too fond of astronomy either. Most everything else I like well enough though." she added, talking to both of them. Kat looked at Rhyspa and smiled warmly saying, "Of course I would have done the same for you! That's what best friends are for!" She laughed at Rhyspa's comment to Makato about pulling another disappearing act, but decided not to comment on it. He seemed to torture himself enough over it. To Kat, life couldn't get any more perfect at the moment. Maybe this year was going to be her best year yet, though after last year things had to get better, they couldn't have possibly gotten any worse.

((sorry for the huge time gaps in between my post. craziness in the real world got me tied up 8-} ))

Makato smiled as the blue eyes kissed him on the cheek.He listened to her everyword as if it was the most important thing in the world. He did feel horrible about leaving and he suffered everyday for it but it was the price he was willing to take. He began to stroll a bit so as to not just stand there and listened to the girls talk on about school and life in general.

((Haha! No worries! I have a feeling that RL craziness is just about to get the best of all of us! ))

Kat happened to catch a glimpse at her watch. "Oh shoot! I forgot that i've got to meet with Andy in ten minutes to go over some last minute details for our first SDA meeting. Sorry to have to run off so quickly." she said apologetically to them both. "Rhyspa, how about you and I have some quality girly time at the sorority this weekend? Sound good? Tell you what, just send me an owl letting me know whenever's good for you." she replied to her best friend with a grin. Then Kat turned to Makato and said with a twinkle in her blue eyes, "And you and I need to just catch up on quite a few things mister." She gave him another peck on the cheek, released his hand and then gave Rhyspa a hug before heading back up to the castle to meet Andy. It's gonna be a good year! she thought to herself with a smile.
