Take A Ride With Me

[sub]School, schmool, Rayn thought as he carelessly laid back onto the fresh grass below him. The sun was beaming down the land in all its glory and as much as he enjoys the warm caress of the sun, he had to admit his skin didn't. Rayn was easily prone to sunburns thanks to his fair complexion and he could never get a decent enough tan during the summer before turning into a red lobster. The only way that he could enjoy the weather was to take shelter below the shadiest tree in the courtyard. Lucky for him, class had ended early today and he managed to snag the best shade the area has to offer. Rayn tucked both arms underneath his head and stared up at the bright blue sky.

The clouds dance among one another, twisting and blending itself onto one another and forming a long list of familiar shapes in the air. He let a small smile grace his lips. He hadn't felt so relax in weeks and it was good to finally feel free from all the stress of school work, even if it's just for awhile. Sighing in content, Rayn shut his eyes and willed himself to sleep. Taking a nap wouldn't hurt, he had nothing else planned for the rest of the day nor was behind on any homework. I deserve a break, Rayn thought before he fell into a light slumber.

After making a daring attempt to escape the confines of his classroom before the rest of his fellow fourth years, Jonathon strolled into the courtyard. Robin was busy with assignments for the rest of the day; something Jonathon wasn't sad neither happy about. Although it meant the two couldn't ultimately hang out like they usually would, it did also mean that for a change he had some time to himself. It was now a rare thing for Batman to be alone, to have time for himself and his thoughts, and quite frankly the fourteen year old was nervous about it. Since making friends with Dalton, aka Robin, he had forgotten what it was like to be completely alone, which was a feeling he missed. He missed being able to sit by himself, and hear everything going on around him, almost as if he didn't exist any more. Jonathon liked it that way because it reassured him that if something unfortunate did happen to him, the world would continue turning like it already was. But the teenager wouldn't dare utter these thoughts to another, because he knew if anybody else knew they would try to make him think differently, change his train of thought, because popular belief had driven them to thinking that knowing how easily you could be forgotten was a bad thing.

Jonathon didn't understand this, yet he still wasn't going to question it, he'll probably mention it to Samuel when he got the chance though. Approaching the tree where he usually sat alone, Jonathon was bewildered by somebody else sitting in the shade. The fourteen year old shoved his hands inside his pockets, kicking the ground gently after realising he couldn't muster up enough courage to ask kindly if the stranger in his spot would move. It was apparent that even after making two friends and socialising outside his family circle, Jonathon was still unable to break the ice and talk to a stranger first. Sighing in frustration, Jonathon didn't know what else to do so he was just left standing there, not knowing how to react to the situation.

OOC: Blah, I'm sorry.

[sub]Rayn had always been a light sleeper so it's safe to say that resting in the field probably wasn't the brightest idea he had ever had. There was soon bound to be a mass of students screaming and talking as they emerge from the castle and the peace and quiet would be gone. Regardless, Rayn decided to take what time he had left for rest and made the best out of it. The moment didn't last very long as he soon heard the sound of crisp of grass under a pair of feet. He noted that they footsteps stopped just a few feet away from him and was soon followed by a soft sigh. Cranking one eye ever so slightly, Rayn made out what was to be a boy who seem slightly younger than he was. Rayn carefully opened his other eye and blinked a few times to adjust against the bright surroundings. He propped himself up into a seating position and turned his attention to the boy. "Hi there!" Rayn greeted with a smile. "I'm Rayn Jung". He noticed that the person in front of him looked a little fidgety and this made him feel a little concerned. "Are you okay?" he asked.[/sub]

ooc: It's okay :)

It would be an understatement to say that Jonathon was bewildered by the stranger's kindness; he wasn't used to somebody being so well, nice at a first meeting. The fourteen year old had been plagued with horrible first impressions since moving to France, with the exception of Dalton, and this stranger's enthusiastic introduction of themselves left Batman further unsure of what to do. Although he could always walk away, and pretend this never happened, Jonathon's common sense told him otherwise. Jonathon did not plaster a fake smile upon his features like his brother would at a time like this, or anything similar to make himself appear different to how he actually felt. Instead making the tedious decision to introduce himself back to the other student; after all, it was only manners. "I'm Batman." He replied, usually referring to himself as batman was when his first impressions fell flat, or turned sour. It seemed nobody but a select few people thought his nickname was interesting, or normal. This made sense considering the magical world did not know who the comic book superhero Batman was, and chose to shun him because they didn't understand.

Either way, Jonathon wasn't going to find a new nickname anytime soon, the name Batman was stuck to him like glue. When Rayn asked if he was okay, Jonathon simply nodded, and kicked at the ground some more. This was his usual defence mechanism, to distract attention away from himself in order to avoid anything negative. Lately he had easily been able to be the lesser noticed of him and Dalton, but now was different, now Batman wasn't able to dwell in the safety of his best friend's shadow. "Um, I usually hang out around here, and you're here, so do you mind if I sit with you?" The fourth year asked, needing to explain himself so he didn't get into any trouble. Rayn didn't look threatening, unlike the other students, so he wasn't so scared of talking to the older Wizard for a little while.
