Entering the busy chamber, which was already filled with students whom had gathered to watch their favourite, or least favourite professors duel, Katherine gestured for the two combatants to take their places on opposite ends of the platform, and took a moment to explain the rules set in place, out of a formality more than anything by this stage. Enough duels had taken place in the school for its staff to be aware of how it worked by now. Matthias against Kingsley was interesting, as both of their subjects were noted for their similarities in regards to divining. Numbers and runes were of little use here, however. Gryffindor's Head of House no doubt had many of her own loyal supporters already, given her position, so expectations were high. Stepping away from the platform, the Headmistress took her place on a further elevated podium, and raised her hands for attention. "Duelists, prepare yourselves." The woman called, allowing the two a moment to bow. "Commence."

Ensure you have read the Duelling Points and Duelling Rules topics before posting. The Acceptable Spells By Year topic may also be useful for ideas and guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Below is a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, disarmed or otherwise incapacitated and unable to cast any more spells with a wand, you lose. Professor Kingsley listened to the Headmistress as she tightened her hair into a ponytail, her gaze moving between her boss and the younger woman across the way. Although she'd once taught her, since Bella's return to the castle as a professor they hadn't spoken. And this was a competition, so there was no way she was going to go easy on the woman. She'd once been the professor who helped coordinate the student duels, though that had been ages ago before she even had children. Now, she had her son in the stands, staring at her. She gave him a small smile as the Headmistress finished, pulling her wand from her sleeve and bowing before taking her position.

At the woman's word, Professor Kingsley went for it. "Levicorpus!" she declared, moving her wand as she cast the spell.

Isabella had no idea what led her to decide to join the dueling competition, and realizing she'd be up against her former Professor did not make her feel any better about it. There was no way she was going to let herself be embarrassed though, no matter how bad she actually was at dueling. The Professor obviously wasn't going to go easy on her, as she shot a spell straight away. Bella quickly blocked it, though surprised at the woman's speed and intensity. She probably had a lot of built up rage. Bella quickly sent the tongue tying curse in return, thinking that if Kingsley couldn't speak, she'd have more time to think and react.

Professor Kingsley hadn't really expected the spell to hit Bella, and was ready to block the spell that came her way. Bella was faster than she'd expected, or she was slower. Deciding to take a different approach, Kingsley aimed for the floor under Bella this time, sending an icy spell that way.

It really wasn't a surprise that the spell didn't hit Kingsley, but Bella still wasn't prepared to go down that fast. That was, until Kingsley sent a slippery floor her way. There wasn't too much Bella could do as she slipped on the ground, falling hard on her butt. She couldn't help but feel embarrassed, falling over was humiliating and Bella couldn't remember the last time she actually did fall. Bella called out "Incarcerous!" While on the floor, knowing that it would give her a quick second to stand up, which she did, carefully, before using the hot air charm to get rid of whatever was under her feet.

Professor Kingsley shouldn't have laughed. It didn't set a good example for the students, and she might have better escaped the spell Bella immediately shot back, which encased her wand arm. Attempting to rip at the binding out of instinct only succeeded in making the ropes tighten, and she grunted before nonverbally casting the spell to send a blindfold towards Bella. She looked at the ropes on her arm, feeling them tighten even more.

Hearing the Professor's laughter made Bella angry, but the emotion was quickly overcome with pride as she saw the ropes take hold of Kingsley's arm. Using the time to stand up, Bella saw a spell coming at her, which she quickly shielded herself from; she hadn't learnt how to do nonverbal spells. Bella flicked her wand, and sent a bat-bogey hex towards Kingsley.

Cyndi narrowed her eyes. A bat-bogey hex? She quickly cast Evanesco , the bogeys vanishing as quickly as they'd appeared and returned a stunning spell in the woman's direction. She knew she'd have to turn her attention to get arm soon. It was beginning to fall asleep.
