The first weekend break in the longest time and even though she knew she could abuse the system and make her way back to New Zealand, she didn't bother. Instead she strolled about the village that they were allowed visit this time. It was still bitterly cold but at least the snow had begun to melt in patches and snow drops and even daffodils were springing up about the place. Moko walked through the busy cobbled street until she came to what looked like a relatively new shop and entered.

Looking about her she smiled, picking up a potion here and a bizarre creation there she wondered just what it was the shop was supposed to specialize in. Nothing seemed to fit with its neighbour, each shelf seemed laden with something more obscure than the item before it. It was neither a joke shop or a potions store or a book store, though all these items were for sale. Walking backwards towards the counter she stared transfixed at the strangest object hovering above her. It looked like a bat but she seriously couldn't be sure. Then suddenly it was flying directly down at her, ducking she covered her head with her hands and swore loudly.

Max smiled when he saw the girl duck, raising his wand with slow controlled movements and stopping the bat in its tracks. It was only a toy one but it was charmed to be realistic and as it got closer it also appeared to grow in size. The bat fell limply to the ground and he summoned it to him. Flapping the rubber wings as if to show her that there was nothing for her to be scared of.

"You know it's only a myth about bats going for your hair first" he smiled walking to the counter and placing the rubber bat on top of it. Looking at her he cast his shrewd gaze over her, she was beautiful but he was so used to beautiful girls at Beauxbatons.
"Are you ok? No damage done I hope" another smile as he waited for her to respond.

The store he worked in was a simple junk shop, they sold everything and accepted anything in payment. He knew very well he could have getting a job in any other store to bulk up his pocket money but this one was maddeningly interesting. He just never knew what he would find from one day to the next.

Moko sighed and looked at the boy as if he were completely stupid and beneath her contempt. She was not afraid of bats in general, she could careless for the creatures. What she had objected too was a low flying aircraft coming directly for her. She was not yet of age whereby she could just whisk out her wand and be done with the infernal thing but soon enough she would be. That made her smile... a little

"That fact is commonly known" she retorted not caring in the slightest for his tone with her, "Of course there was no damage done. Do I look like some fragile little girl?" she glanced wearily at him, quite fed up now and simply wanted to look about the store without any more interruptions. Surely that wasn't too hard to ask.

Choosing to simply ignore the member of staff until she may require his assistance Moko wandered away from the counter and down through one of the aisles, trailing her finger absently along the rows of shelves as she did so.
