Having just finished up with the 'Meet and Greet' session she'd put together for the Kynleigh decided to change her clothes before heading down to the gardens. There was one person that she hadn't seen since school had let out for the holidays and she couldn't believe that she actually missed him. Somewhere over the course of the last year Kynleigh and Elijah had grown to be good friends. Where other people thought her to be strange or act odd, her Hufflepuff friend seemed to not mind how she behaved and accepted it as normal. Kynleigh rarely missed anyone with the exception of her parents when she was at school so she found it strange to have missed Elijah, but she still did nonetheless.

Before she had left her dorm room she'd sent a letter to him seeing if he had to the time if he wanted to catch up and talk down in the school gardens. She figured she'd give him about fifteen minutes and if he didn't show up she'd catch him at another time. It was chilly outside so she pulled her new jacket tighter around her. While she liked her new clothes her parents had bought for her she missed her old ones, they were well worn, but the new clothes had been a necessity due to her recent growth spurt. The Gryffindor had grown close to three inches and had filled out in places that now made her somewhat self-conscious about her appearance. Several of the boys in her house had seemed to notice as they now smiled at her while giving her the once over whereas they used to avoid her and call her a freak or a geek behind her back. She wondered if Elijah would notice the changes. Some part of her hoped so, but the other part hoped he didn't because things like that made boys weird and the last thing she wanted was for the Hufflepuff to act strange around her. In all reality he was her only friend at the school and while Kynleigh liked to be by herself the majority of time, but the time they spent together was nice too.

When she finally reached the gardens she noticed that there wasn't much in bloom, but there was something strangely beautiful about it. It was mostly bare and still which was probably why she liked it there so much. She found a bench and stretched out on it, looking up at the sky. The clouds were thick today, but there was some patches of blue trying to peek through which meant there was a sun up there somewhere trying to break out and shine down on the day.

<SIZE size="50">For the fifth year, the summer had been lonely. Paris was a big city, and with no one but his little sister really around. And she was busy, doing something. He never asked, and he didn't bother trying to understand her. She was just in his life, and Elijah Tine just did not know what to do. Instead he'd spent most of his time locked up in his room, every so often sneaking out, but most of the time just spent playing his guitar and just sitting in the silence. It didn't matter that it was constantly sunny outside and the days it did rain, were the days that Elijah actually went outside. When he actually walked around outside, they were incredibly long walks, and he'd come home late, and then notice his parents had called at least six times every hour. It surprised him that they cared that much. If they just took a moment to glance around his room, they would've realised that most of his belongings were still in his room, and therefore, there was no way he'd leave. For one, he need to take all his music, and when he went for walks that was one of the things he left behind. If his parents bothered to get to know him, they would realise that without his music he was no one. He didn't like who he was without the music, and therefore, going without would be like suicide for him. But, his parents still did not trust him. They still thought of him as a flight risk, which he had to laugh about. Wait until he turned 17, then he would show them. It was true that the boy had little thoughts of sticking around once he'd hit the legal wizarding age, or had waited till he turned 18. It was one of the things he'd been thinking about over the past summer. His dreams did not lie in education, so he saw little point in him sticking around and doing exams that would just drive him insane. His music was all he wanted or needed. But as he thought this, sitting in his dorm room, slowly strumming away at a new song, a person sprung into his brain. Someone whom he'd been thinking about most of the summer. A good friend. Kynleigh. It was odd friendship, growing from an unlikely place. She was nice, and friendly, and she didn't really care about his antics. It really was different from almost all other people. Who would turn their nose up at Elijah and his musical ways.

During the summer, Elijah had grown quite a lot, he was a good few inches taller than he had been. No one had really expected him to grow, but his father was tall, and therefore now so was Elijah. That and his hair was a little shorter, and his light stuble. He was growing up. Quicker than he could really handle, and more than most of the other Hufflepuffs in his year. Or most other fifth years. Elijah hadn't really noticed anything apart from his new height. As he played, he became aware of a letter for him. He opened it, and smiled as the familiar handwriting of a particular girl graced the page. He smiled, and while swinging the guitar on to his back, and slipping on a pair of converses, heading outside. He was wearing his usual dark blue jeans, matched with a simple plain t-shirt, and a jumper with rolled up sleeves. He walked through the halls and headed down to the Gardens. It didn't take long for him to reach where he wanted to go. But when he did, he had to spend a good five minutes actually finding who he wanted to find. He noticed her straight away, but she was definitely older. He'd always thought her as pretty, but she was really beautiful. He walked over, and tapped her lightly on the shoulder. "Hey" He said as he sat down next to her on the bench. "How are you?" Elijah asked, clearly happy to see her. It would be a good year, he knew it.

Kynleigh heard footsteps, but didn't bother looking to see who it was. She grinned when he tapped her on the shoulder and greeted her. "I don't think the sky can make up it's mind whether or not it's going to rain. The sun is trying it's hardest to peek through and shine down, but I'm pretty sure the clouds are going to win this battle," she said before sitting upright, indian style with her legs folded up under her. The blonde pulled her jacket closer around her as she looked at Elijah. Apparently she wasn't the only one who'd done some growing up over the holidays. Whereas she'd always thought he'd been slightly cute she now noticed that he had grown to be very handsome which made her insides flutter just a tad.

"I suppose I'm well enough. Been a little hectic...I forgot how crazy this first week of school always is. And so many first years roaming around like little yard gnomes," Kynleigh said matter-of-factly. Smiling she looked over at her friend and asked, "How were your holidays? Write any good songs?" She knew that he hated having to go home and live with his family over the holidays because apparently his home life wasn't quite the best of circumstances for him which upset her because he was such an awesome person and she didn't understand how anyone couldn't see that.

It was true for the Hufflepuff that he enjoyed the company of the Gryffindor girl he'd met the year before. The tall Hufflepuff was unsure as to why or how this was. He didn't have too many friends. He Stuck to himself and this did not lend itself well to having many friends. Since most of the time he just sat around and played his guitar, muttering and humming to himself. He sat around in his dorm room and just did that for more or less the entire time. He had a tendancy to forget about meals and forget about classes. Sure, as a fourth year, he'd greatly improved, but it was only because he felt the need to prove to his parents thaty he was smart, that while the music was the most important thing to him, it wasn't the only thing he could do. This year as a fifth year, he knew he had to do well. He had to prove to them that he was a lot more than just a musician. That his grades would be able to reflect how smart he could be if he actually put his mind to it. But, this was Elijah Tine, and his only real drive in life was the music he played. He was unlike most others in that sense that would probably stop trying so hard, but he couldn't. He had to at least keep going until the end of his OWLs, and when he turned of age. Then he would be able to devided to either stay at school, or to just leave. It would be his decision alone, and his biological parents would have no say in the matter, that much he could assure them. He glanced up at the sky as Kynleigh spoke. The dark green eyes of the boy looked up to the sky and just stared. He didn't really know, but he assumed she would be right. She'd lived in New Zealand, he was sure a lot longer than he did. Elijah had lived in New Zealand, about three years in total. Not really counting the terms. He still wasn't completely used to the weather, and now since he lived in Paris whenever he was "home", it was confusing to say the least. "I think I'll trust you on this one, I'm just back from summer in Paris." He looked to her, "You cold?" Elijah asked curious, his eyes on the fact she had pulled her jacket closer. He met her eyes for a moment and smiled. He ran a hand through his hair, then looked back out at the sky. "I'd love a bit of rain." He smiled at her.

His first back was clearly not as stressfuul or busy as hers, which he didn't mind at all. He was getting ready for fifth year. Getting all his books in order and everything else that he would need for the coming term. He had seen an adundance of little first year Hufflepuff's. They were always the nice little quiet ones. "hufflepuff is quiet, all the little first years are quiet. Shy little ones." Elijah said smiling and giving a small laugh. He had been like that. Apart from the fact he already had a close friend upon arriving at the school. "I'm just getting ready for the start of OWLs year." He said with a smile. "My holidays were alright. My dad was in New York half the time, and my mother was busy with her two daughters. So it was alright, and I wrote a few. Mostly the music and a few matching lyrics, you know. What about you?"

Kynleigh shook her head slightly. "Just a little chill came over me with the wind," she said truthfully. "Paris? Jealous! That is definitely on my list of places to visit before I die," she said wide eyed as she mused aloud. Looking up at the sky she grinned. "I suppose a little rain never hurt anyone. Might do the plants some good anyways, plus dancing in the rain can be fun sometimes," she said with a smile. If most of the girls from Heta Omega knew that she liked to dance in the rain or preferred to spend her time alone lighting Blue Bell Flames for Hucklebee rather than planning fancy formal social functions they would all seriously question her leadership abilities, but she'd show them that she could be one of the best presidents the club had ever seen.

"Quiet, eh? Gryffindor house is definitely quite the opposite. A bunch of rambunctious little thrill seekers out to prove just how brave they really are," the blonde said laughing, remembering that she was probably the exactly same way several years prior. "Ick, I heard those OWLs were nasty little things," she started before realizing it sounded just a little bit insensitive to bring up just how stressful fifth year was for most people. "Though I'm sure you'll do just fabulous! No doubt!" Kynleigh beamed when Elijah said he had written some new music. "Already working on the giant world tour then," she said, nudging him slightly. "Mine were okay. Momma took me shopping for some new clothes," she said standing up and twirling a bit before striking a pose and laughing, "So what do you think? Pretty spiffy new duds, eh?" Kynleigh sat back down and pulled her legs back up under her. "For the most part I just spent time with my mother and my nana. I enjoyed it though, reminds me how much I appreciate having a 'normal' muggle existence," she said, not really sure if the last part made any sense to anyone other than her. "So, do I get to hear any of these new songs or are they like super top secret until your debut album drops," she said with a wink and a smile.

If one thing was different about this year it was the small fact of Elijah being named the Hufflepuff prefect. Or a hufflepuff prefect. It had come as a great shock and now that he thought about it, he was sure that despite everything he would try, being a prefect would not be for him. It did of course set his plans to quit school back a little. Since he had something worth staying for at school. But a small glance a gryffindor beside him reminded him, that the prefect badge was just another reason for him to stay at school. Inevitable he would leave before her, but at least he could spend the remainder of his years with her. Elijah had never really ever considered to get close to any girl on an incredibly personal level. Not since first year and Hillary. His first year girlfriend. If you could call two first years together boyfriend and girlfriend. Since then it had pretty much been a solo boat for the Hufflepuff. But now he had Kynleigh. Which was odd, since all they were was friends. He smiled at her as she spoke of how Paris was a place she wanted to go. "You are welcome to visit any time. It would be good to have some company while I'm there." a smile crept on his face as he said this, he meant it. But he knew that she would probably think he was kidding, which was why he smiled. That and he was so comfortable around her that she made him smile with ease. He wondered what it would be like to be the president of the girl club, he could hardly imagine being the head of the brotherhood. A group of males from all houses to control it did not seem like fun. He did however enjoy being a brother. In a home so full of girls a place for only males at school was a safe haven. But it was nice to hear of other houses. And how their first years were especially this early on in the year. They were all a little crazy, which the green eyed teen was perfectly okay with.

Nodding along as she spoke he smiled and applauded as she took a spin. "You look gorgeous Kynleigh. Your mum has impeciable taste." his voice was jokingly. But he meant what he said. She was pretty. He just wasn't that interested in clothes. "But really Kynleigh you look amazing in these new clothes. I think I need to maybe get some new ones." The dark green eyes of the boy smiled at the girl in front of him before looking down at his clothes. They weren't the new ones his parents had bought they were the ones he had bought. When he'd been living around the place. While he had told the blonde in front of him a lot about how he hated his family, he had never really spoken about the time before his family, his real ones. The brief fostering section of his life. But this was not the kind of time for that conversation. He just smiled at her warmly. Then she asked about his music. "I didn't bring it, had I known I would've brought it." Elijah mentally kicked himself for not bringing it. "they are no secret. Plus unless you think it's perfect there will be no debut album. I need to be sure it's amazing and I trust you more than anyone. And value your wise opinion." Elijah had been about to continue when he remembered something. "Oh, Kynleigh you will never guess what?" He waited a few minutes before deciding to just say. "I'm a prefect. It's so weird to me. Never would've thought I would be one. don't you agree? I mean I'm crazy, and I love music more than anything. Not prefect material "

When Elijah said that she could visit any time she wasn't sure if was being serious or not, but his smile told her he meant it. "Oh, sweet! Thanks Elijah," Kynleigh said with a giant grin. It was nice to know that she'd finally made a friend that she close enough with to even want to see outside of school.

The tall blonde blushed pink when he told her she looked gorgeous. No one had ever told her that before, much less a boy. It made butterflies flutter in her belly which made her happy yet scared all at the same time. "I, um, just still getting used to these new clothes. I like them, but I miss my old ones. They were well worn and comfortable, but I suppose change is a good thing," she said with a shrug of her shoulders, looking down at herself. She had definitely changed, but looking at Elijah she could tell that he had too. "I like your clothes. They're very...you!" Kynleigh nudged him slightly with a smile. When he said he didn't bring his music with him she poked him in the side and said, "You silly duck. Well I suppose you'll just have to remember to bring it next time you see me." Hearing his sweet words Kynleigh smiled warmly. "I'm sure they're brilliant. I can't imagine you writing anything that wouldn't be. I can't wait to hear them," she said honestly.

The blonde waited intently, but at first he didn't say anything. "WHAT?!?" Then he broke the news to her. Elijah, her friend, was now a school prefect. Kynleigh clapped excitedly and squealed lightly as she wrapped him in a hug. "That is so awesome and exciting! Apparently crazy and music make for one hell of a prefect," she started with a huge grin, "Really Elijah, this is so exciting! I'm very proud of you."

<SIZE size="50">It was a pretty odd feeling to be with a girl and notice that she blushed at his compliment. This in turn made his cheeks redden and wondered why they did so. He also wondered if complimenting her was a little too much. That he was overstepping the friendship that they had. Of course he had no clue. Here was a girl, who was willing to talk to him. There were not many who would be willing to. And he was pretty sure that he would in one way or another manage to screw it up. Either that, or he'd actually tell her how he felt about her, and she wouldn't like him back, making things entirely awkward. Something the hufflepuff prefect did not want to do. He had so little experience when it cames to the female speicman that he didn't always know quite what to do, and although being friends with Kynleigh made things easier, she was kind with him and she liked the fact he was crazy. She had changed over the summer, and while he liked how she was now, he had also liked how she was before. He didn't care what she was dressed in, or how she wore her hair. It was nice. When she talked about his clothes, he could not help but laugh. "Kynleigh, you don't need to try to compliment me. I know I'm fabulous" He smiled at her, his dark green eyes glowing, with the joy that he had sitting with his closest friend. It was nice to have a friend like her. He was very grateful. Elijah, looked into the eyes of the girl in front of him, and just smiled. He was watching her, smiling fondly. Elijah gave a small laugh as she called him a silly duck. He liked the way she didn't ever swear. Or did every so often. Unlike Elijah, where swearing was as easy as talking. The hufflepuff rubbing his hands against the chair that they were sat upon. He tore his eyes away from her and looked around them. The Gardens was an odd place. It was full of colour and creatures. It was a pretty epic place, and he found it found it funny that when the school first started out, it didn't even exist. That surprised him most. Eli had always wondered what it would be like to be part of the first set of students to be at hogwarts. When there was only three years above them. He glanced back at Kynleigh, and grinned happily.

When he told her his news, he couldn't help but be surprised when she seemed so happy about it. Elijah grinned happily and glad wrapped his arms around her as she hugged him. He was glad to hug her, to know his friend was happy for him. He was too, the hufflepuff was very happy. He didn't ever think that he would ever become a prefect. Never in his wildest dreams, and while in some ways it was a very good thing, in others it was a curse to him. He knew that he had to better, but he could never forget about the music. "You and me both." Elijah pulled away from her. Smiling brightly, his green eyes once again meeting hers. "My parents are proud of me. Hell, I've never really been prouder. I can't believe it. I mean, me. Of all the people. I'm sure everyone else is more qualified than me. I thought it was a joke." Elijah said all in one breath. He didn't show that he was worried about how his plan. The one that meant he would leave school a year early. Leave Kynleigh. For the moment he was just glad for everything that he had in that moment. "We are really heading up in this world, I'm a prefect and you are the top sister, of the Sister hood. We are Awesome!"

OOCOut of Character:
Sorry it sucks so much

"I'm sure it's because you show tremendous promise. At this rate you might even be up for Head Boy. Wouldn't that be fantastic," she said with a huge grin across her lips. "And your parents should be proud of you, though honestly it shouldn't have taken this for them to be proud of you. You've got a lot of other things going for you, especially with your music," Kynleigh said certainly, nodding her head as she did so. The blonde knew that Elijah hadn't exactly been the closest with his family just from previous conversations with him, but she still felt as if they should have always been proud of him because he was an absolutely wonderful person and she didn't see how anyone else couldn't see that.

The Gryffindor chuckled when he said they were heading up in the world. "We are kind of awesome, aren't we? Everyone will bow down to us one day," she chimed as she hopped up and mock bowed down to Elijah. "We should celebrate our accomplishments! Let's dance!" It didn't occur to her that they hadn't any music to dance to, but they were always two people who marched to the beat of their own drum so who said that they needed music to dance. Kynleigh held her hand out to Elijah, a smile on her face and slowly emerging sunlight dancing in her eyes.

<SIZE size="50">The Hufflepuff had to hold back a pretty big laugh when she said he could be up for Head boy. Obliviously being head boy was a tremendus task. After all, he would be the head of the entire student body. More or less. And not to mention that he would have to give a speech at the graduation, which Elijah would probably break into song while doing it, and that was not exactly what most would want to happen at their graduation service. Of course, Elijah did think it high improbable that he every become that, but in the previous year he thought it impossible for him to become a prefect, so really anything would be possible. But, then a part of the Hufflepuff did not even want to be Head Boy, he did not want to get anywhere close to it. Being head boy would mean he would have to stay on for his final year, and as much as he desired to spend all his time with Kynleigh, and his other friends, the music he played called to him a lot more than anything else did. And putting off his grand scheme was not an option that the Hufflepuff liked the sound of. It wasn't that he thought his life would be better without finishing school. The security net would be beneath him for another year. But Elijah was able to live without it. He'd proved that before. It wasn't that he desired to be struggling in almost everyway, but if he had to pick between school and his music, his music would easily win every time. No matter the situation or what would become of him in each option. He smiled at Kynleigh as she spoke about the fact that his parents should have seen much sooner that ELijah was a son they could be proud of but, he didn't want to tell her that he'd met his parents only three years before, and he had spent the first part of his life with his foster parents, and he knew they had in parts been a little proud of his ways, the way he played his guitar at all hours, as much as it frustrated them. Elijah knew he'd driven his fosters to near insanity and they'd often left on his own, since it was difficult to ever get him to behave in stores, but they had always been proud that he stuck to being himself and for no one did he change. They knew they had been successful in at least one thing. Sometimes Elijah regretted his decision to leave his foster parents since they had done so much for him, And he had pretty much thrown it back in their face. For that he was at least sorry. "All I need is for you to be proud of me. F##k what my parents think"

Elijah smiled at her, and nodded. He thought she was more than kind of awesome. But he did think that they could rule the world if the wanted to. If only they'd been in the same year, then they could both try for the Headpeople's post. They would at that point be reigning supreme over all others. No one could touch them from such a position. "More than kind of Awesome I think." He said mocking a curtsey to Kynleigh, he was taken aback by the fact she wanted to dance, but instead of saying no, he took Kyneligh's out stretched and pulled her to the middle of where they were, so there would be enough space to dance. Elijah knew they had no music, but he still positioned himself in a Waltz position, holding Kynleigh fairly close to him. A smile was upon his face as he looked down to her. Being the taller of the two, he had to. His dark green meeting her eyes. His eyes were smiling as he began to start a waltz. it was a very bad one, and he to work hard to not be constantly looking at his feet. He didn't really have any beat for the waltz, and nor did he try. He was just enjoying the dancing with his closest friend. "I think your dancing has improved since we last danced."
