Eurydice knew for a fact that a student could use the Kitchens. Her mother had told her enough stories about spending time in the Kitchens baking cookies and cupcakes when she was a student, and her mum couldn't have been making that up. Sometimes, she would miss her mum's baking, but she was a big girl, and she didn't want to write home just to ask for cookies. Never mind that Jai-nii used to do just that. Instead, she asked her mum if she could have the recipe for her cookies. Mum had been skeptical of course since she'd never really spent time in the kitchen before, but she'd relented, and the two of them had spent a very, very messy afternoon in Nightray manor. It was probably one of the few times that Eury didn't mind the mess surrounding her and on her. She spent time with her mum, got her cookie recipe, and even managed to eat a whole batch to herself. So now she wanted to try making them herself and maybe she could give some to her friends. When she'd arrived at the Kitchens, she shyly asked a house elf to lend her a station for baking and maybe some ingredients for chocolate chip cookies. They'd agreed immediately and led her to a corner of the Kitchen and gave her what they thought she would need. After thanking them, she removed her school robe and set it aside while she asked if Mr. Dak was around. He was apparently doing work somewhere else and will be back very soon. She nodded and shooed them away, assuring them that she was going to be fine on her own and that she'd done this before. Once they'd left, she got to work on cracking an egg.

Or well...

Smashing the egg was probably a more accurate description of what occurred.

Dakrey was always productive during the evenings, he got the majority of his cleaning done while the students were at dinner and when the evening drew on and students withdrew to their common rooms that was when he took on his cleaning jobs in the common areas across the school. He liked his routine and he liked how quickly he could get everything done. The rooms he left behind were always spotless and it gave him a lot of satisfaction. When he returned to the kitchens there was a buzz of activity as the other house elves were cleaning up after dinner but they also had a visitor, a human visitor!

“Miss Eury!” Dak exclaimed when he went over to the baking station and saw his best friend elbow deep in flour. “Are you baking? Would you like some help?”

Eurydice was elbow deep in flour. Or perhaps one could say, she was covered in flour. She hadn't been in the kitchens for very long though she did wonder why her mum thought that this would be very difficult. Sure, she hadn't really known how to open the eggs, and she'd smashed a couple, but hey, she got them in the bowl, and she thought she got all the shells out - she did not. The flour had been a surprise. She'd tried to pour them from the bag and into a cup... but ended up dumping it out, creating a cloud of flour and getting it everywhere on her - her uniform, her arms, her face, her hair. But she did managed to eventually get the required cups of flour! The sugar had been easier. Baking soda, she had no idea what it looked like so she'd just asked one of the nice elfs to give her some sparkling water. They gave her a glass of it and well, that was too much since she just needed a teaspoon of it. Still, she didn't question it and just put a teaspoon into the flour and saved the rest to drink later. She'd just been about to add the chocolate chips when Mr. Dak arrived. "Hi!" she greeted enthusiastically, waving her hand though careful not to approach since she was so messy. "I'm trying to bake cookies!" she said showing him her bowl of flour, sugar, sparkling water, and smashed eggs (with a few egg shells).

“Cookies,” Dakrey chewed on the word as he took in the sight of Eury covered in flower. It was curious that she was doing it without magic, he had yet to meet a student who didn’t at least some some degree of magic to cook, not that many students came down to the kitchen to cook or bake themselves, they asked (demanded) the house elves do it for them. Dakrey appreciated that Eury was trying to do it herself, even if the results left something to be desired. Dakrey peered into the bowl and noticed what looked like water not quite mixed in yet, he ignored the egg shells as they were a common hazard. “Water? He looked up at her with a puzzled look.

Eurydice nodded proudly as she set aside the bowl and dusted her hands off of her skirt - there was no hope left for it anyway - so she could grab the pristine note set aside and away from the rest of the mess so she could present it to Mr. Dak. "Mummy gave me a cookie recipe so I can make them if I wanted to," she said as she grinned at her friend. She thinks she'd put just about everything needed onto the bowl (unknowingly, there may have been a mix-up between the salt and the sugar) and was just about to add the chocolate chips which were the last before she needed to mix everything up. She did look at the bowl puzzled though, because Mr. Dak seemed to be confused about the water - well sparkling water. To be honest, she was maybe a little confused by that too because she couldn't remember having put sparkling water in when she'd made it with her mother but the instructions clearly said baking soda and well, she wasn't sure what type of soda was good for baking but she'd thought that the sparkling water was a pretty safe bet. "Well, it said baking soda and I didn't know what type of soda to put so I just put sparkling water." Now, she was looking at her bowl all confused too.
