Set Winter Break 2037

As much Frederick's home would always be his home, there was no denying that the Ravenclaw left part of himself behind at Hogwarts when he left for winter break. Everything felt so ordinary now that e was back in the muggle world. Common daily tasks that he would just do without a thought felt laborious and he found himself reaching for his wand whenever he wanted extra light for reading. He didn't use of course, it was against the rules, but the urge was real. Even his trips to The State Library of New South Wales weren't bringing him the same amount of joy and peace and that use to be his favorite place to be. The boy was missing his studies, the castle's library, and having magic around. He couldn't wait to go back to school in a few weeks. In his post-Hogwarts life, the muggleborn was content let his days pass away, just merely existing. He had his comic books and legos for fun, muggle school for his mind, and his brother for company. He really didn't think he needed anything more than that. But now with his brother living out on his own and the sudden shock of the family learning their youngest son was a wizard, nothing would ever be normal for the preteen again. His life had changed with the receipt of a single letter. Existing wasn't good enough for him anymore. And surprisingly, Frederick Mensah was ok with that.

Frederick's older brother, Jon, had claimed him for a long weekend and it didn't take much convincing it get the older Mensah to agree to take the younger out to Obsidian Habour for the day. The wizard suspected that his brother was more enamored with the magical world than he was. The pair's mission was to window shop and head over to Quality Qudditch Supplies to purchase some quidditch gear. Freddy had talked Jon's ear off about the sport and found a way to steer the conversation back to it any spare moment he could. And as an athlete himself, the muggle was intrigued and wanted to see more for himself. They entered the shop which was decorated with pennants and posters of professional Qudditich teams from all over the world. As his eyes moved from flag to flag, twelve year old realized that he never chosen a team to support. With this many choices he didn't even know where to begin. Fred wandered over to a stack of t-shirts and unfolded the first shirt he saw. "So do I look like a Macaws fan?" he said as he raised the fabric to his chest. He looked up expecting his brother to respond, but instead of Jon stood boy that looked vaguely familiar. He had to be a Hogwarts student as well, but the soon to be second year couldn't quite place the face. "Oh! Sorry. I thought you were someone else." he apologized, abruptly placing the shirt back in its place.
