It had been a few months since Dallas had moved to New Zealand. Her official excuse was that she wanted to study the local plants. The real reason was she couldn't go anywhere in her home town without feeling judged. Everyone else seemed to agree that she should have said yes when Jacob had proposed to her. Wasn't that every girls dream? Getting married to your Hogwarts sweet heart, retiring, and having 2.5 kids? Sometimes it felt like her town was trapped in the 1950's. Jacob had written to her a few times trying to get her to come home. He had even shown up at her work once, but it just wasn't the same anymore. She wanted more for her life.

Yeah more for myself. Yet here I am working at some cafe barely able to afford rent for my little apartment. Dallas thought to herself as she cleaned the mugs off one of her tables. She scoffed at the sickle left as a tip as she shoved them into her apron pocket. Didn't they know she had to share those between all the workers. It was a slow day, as usual. She didn't know what the owner expected making a cafe invisible to muggles in a muggle city. They didn't have the same kind of fame the Leaky Cauldron did to attract witches, and wizards from all over the world. She was about to make herself a drink when the door opened, and a tall, blonde wizard walked in. Wow. I haven't seen someone that handsome come in here in a long time. she thought as he took a seat. Dallas fixed her hair, and straightened her black dress before going over to take his order. "Hello, welcome to The Blooming Rose! What can I get for you today?" she asked in her best cheery waitress voice.
